Recovering From Loss Of IPhone 5s Encrypted Backup Password
Jun 29, 2014
Knowledge Base articles tell me that in order to recover from forgetting my iPhone 5s's encrypted backup password, I have to erase the iPhone and set it up as a new device, then restore it from my backup. However, one thing is not clear -- am I right in understanding that the restored backup will no longer be encrypted? and/or does restoring the backup allow me to specify a new backup scheme that does not encrypt future backups? I find it difficult to understand how/when the former encryption is removed.Â
I am trying to restore my iphone3 everything ok till it asked for the password on my encryption I have forgotten it how can I restore my phones settings from the encrypted backup.
I have downloaded a new version of iOS. And now trying to restore all of the information from the backup from itunes and it wants an encrypted password. I have never created a password for back up and I don't know what to do!!! my phone is dead now!
I was at a Genius Bar earlier today and they gave me a replacement iPhone 4. I had my laptop with me to transfer everything over and the guy working commented that I shouldn't use data encryption on the backup, so I said fine and he deactivated the option. I believe it was at this point that I was asked to enter the password, which I did. After a long time processing, there was an error message at the end. I wish I could remember what it said, but the guy said it should be fine. He wiped my phone I was returning, and then we set about to restore my new phone from the backup. Only problem is now iTunes doesn't recognize the password from my encrypted backup (this is the only one available). I don't know if something was corrupted during the attempt to deactivate encryption, or if this could be something else? I am positive I know the password—I entered it earlier in the process, and besides, it's the same as my passcode.
I was basically ushered out of the store because the guy said he didn't know what else to do. He just muttered some stuff about third party programs which Apple doesn't support which could retrieve data from a backup. I asked how those could possibly work on an encrypted backup and he didn't seem to have an answer.
I know there are other software that may help to retrive the data but it doesn't work with encrypted backup. Now i have the password, i have the encrypted backup (failed to recover in itunes). What can i do? is it possible to remove the password from the encrypted backup provided that i have the password?
im lost on this blackberry website, and im starting to think there useless, i had my phone wiped out and when i went to install the back up of my phone, the password was not entered in and its been over 2 years since ive used the email password. i dont know how to find out my password or now sign onto my email.
if you have an ecrypted Samsung Galaxy S5 you already know that once you've encrypted it your only option for a screen lock is to enter a secure password. This gets annoying fast. When you want to access your phone quickly on the go it can be difficult to unlock it with any speed. Well I've come up with a way to get past the password lock screen with the same speed as a password and consistently quicker than the finger print scanner unlock.
What I've done and I've included on how to do it yourself instructions below. I've set my password to be one of my hot key options on my Samsung keyboard. I've also shortened my delay for the long press but how to do that isnt included here. (hopefully with screen shots we'll see first time attempt at posting pics here)
Doing this will allow you to quickly get by your lock screen and still have an encrypted device.
**NOTE** This is not a substitute to remember your password. Know it regardless of this being setup or not.
**NOTE** If you have auto space turned on (factory default setting) you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the added space or you will receive an incorrect password error message.
Here's how to do it:
1. Enter the pull down menu and click settings.
2. Tap Language & Input.
3. Now click on the samsung keyboard settings icon.
4. Next if turn on the my hot keys icon.
5. Enter your password under any number to long press to have it typed.
*Don't forget if you have auto space on you will need to press backspace 1 time to delete the space or your password will not work.
I forgot my blackberry security password and I had key in wrong password five time, I was asked to key in blackberry number and I got only one more chance to get it right otherwise all the information installed on the device will be wipe out. What is blackberry number? and how to get one because I don't want to loss all the data in these phone.
Last night I did a manual backup of my iPhone 4S to my computer (Windows 7). I proceeded to restore my phone, and then restore from backup, only to be prompted with a message that asked me for a password. I do not remember ever giving a password, so I made several guesses. I tried the password for the admin account on my computer, email passwords, Apple ID password...but did not succeed. I would also like to note that "Encrypt iPhone backup" is NOT checked on iTunes, and I did not just un-check it.Â
Is there a way of recovering my data from my backup? I would really like my notes, messages, and contacts back.
i have forgot my password for encrypted iphone backup. i have upgraded the os but unable to restore from the backup which is having all my contacts and etc.. can i get the contacts by any means from the encrypted backup.
Returned home to restore my phone from previous backup made a day earlier and all of a sudden a password encryption was needed to access my last saved back up. Has anyone been able to negate this requirement affectively? And if so with a Mac? I am really really frustrated as I need my text messages out of my last backup as evidence in a custody battle with my ex wife.
I have backed up my iphone before updating the software. The backup is in my itunes but it asks for a password, i didnt put a password in and now cant access my data for my phone.
On my girlfriends iphone it is not possible to create a backup without a password. I cannot remark the tick. All backups I create have a password. The problem is, that we forgot the password, which was set once.
I don´t want to get back old backups! I want to create a new one on my computer (not in the cloud), but without a password. Is there a possibility?Â
Just bought a new I-phone and I'm trying to back up my old phone so I can transfer everything to my new phone. I must have created a password a while ago to unlock the I-phone back up, but now I can't remember it. Is there a way to reset it or obtain the password?
