RIM recently put a patent on a motion invention that stops you from texting while driving. Does this mean we can't use our cell phones in cars? Is this something that you would be interested in?
View 12 RepliesWhy is it when im typing in either sms or BBM I keep getting random full stops appearing within the text?This just makes the following letter a capital letter and the text looks awful. I have tried changing between predictive and standard input but it makes no difference at all.

3) Can you lock text messages to save them?
Is there a driving mode? can't find anything about it on the phone... (I'm talking about where you can set it to where if you make a blu-tooth conneciton, like in my car, it will reply to txt messages for you... that your driving ect...)
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, while i was driving with using navigation system i had a problem asking prequently memory full, i was middle of the road just ignore the msg with cancel and keep on driving to my destination. Arrived safel, so far so goed. But in the evening tried to use my x6 now phone is hanged and i tried to diconnect battery and switch on but did not worked, just i can see white light for sometime and than i repeat my previous action but did not worked, it was hanging all the time. after couple of our i switch on again now it works but all the application,setting,datas and photoes/videos are disappeared. what a suck i have been to loose all the data. however i tried to use it and it was very slow and so i switched it off again, after sometime i switch it on, this time also it was only white window but not switching on. i removed the batter to switch off. waited for couple of our.
evening i switch on again, luckily i have had back to my previous mode, meaning i have everything back to normal, immediately i thought to back all my data and update my maps cause i have to drive long next morning. now i was peaceful could at least sleep without stress.
but this morning i switch on my x6 but its come with another surprise having same problem and there is nothing in the data looks like factory setting invaded. since ihave to drive 800 kilometor today i neeeded map, tried to update it via OVI but map could read in my phone saying that there is not possible to install map, i tried all the instruction but did not worked. it looked to me my gps system is not functioning any longer, on top of that i seemed to have problem with the internet connection, it fails connecting server.
Is there a way to do a virtual drive to a destination? I.e.. To drive the route on the phone without actually traveling there? I seem to recollect that this was available on older versions?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia 5230 - and the main selling point to me was the price with the Ovi Maps.Ovi Maps is fine for walking but I think it's not good enough compared to a dedicated car Sat Nav, I'd go as far as to say it's potenitally dangerous.
I used it in the Uk to drive to Stonhendge with a TomTom running next to it as a backup in silent mode and think the software on the Nokia could get someone into a car accident.First of all the speaker it'self is not really loud enough to be heard over a car engine at speed, together with wind noise, so you're forced to look at the screen much more then a dedicated SatNav.
When you zoom into the road to get a better view - the width of the road never gets wider, all that happens is the length of the road gets shorter, so you gain almost nothing by zooming in on the road in 2D view.
Then I found when you're driving and you lose signal the phone constantly bugs you to push buttons, asking you about what network to connect to. That was probably the most dangerous part of the experience to sudden have your maps overlays with annoying information in a moving car and having it asking you to push buttons on the screen.OVI Maps is fine for walking around the city with but for use in a car it's seriously lacking.
I know what it did and where it was on my samsung prior to the g4. I just can't find it on the G4.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Moto X PE with 6.0. Moto display will not work when driving in my car. I have it in a vent holder with no obstructions to all the sensors. I wave my hand in front, and nothing happens. When I'm outside the car, it works perfectly. I do have Auto assist turned on. Not sure what it could be. I'll also mention that it did work well before 6.0.

Would like Pandora (and/or Google Nav) to come on when the phone BT connects with my motorola handsfree carkit and tunelink. I have wifi and gps locations settings turned on. I like to listen to a podcast during my commute (using Podcast Addict for now), usually while Waze is the active app on the screen, but I've been having trouble pausing the playback or hitting fast forward (to go through commercials) while driving. Seems like the controls on the notification bar are too small and there is no skip ahead button there. Maybe I'm just getting used to my new phone, but I'm coming from a Windows Phone where it seemed a lot easier/safer to do.
Anything that can make the controls overlap the Waze app? Or make buttons larger and more useful after flicking on the notification bar?
Last night, I saw an article about driving mode and thought I'd set it up on my 1020 to try it out. (It would let me stop notifications of texts while I'm driving, but still take Bluetooth calls.)
Today, my phone wouldn't connect to my car's Bluetooth. I decided to disable driving mode as it was obviously causing the problem, but the on/off option was greyed out.
Eventually, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, I decided the only option was to reset the phone to go back to driving mode not being set up. You can imagine what a hassle that was. But the phone still doesn't recognise my car, or, it seems, any other Bluetooth devices.
It is galling, because my new car (a Mini Cooper) doesn't have a Cd player, so Bluetooth is the only way I can play music.
Can the I9100 read out the contents of a text message when in driving mode. Mine will read out the senders number but not the contents of the message. Am I missing something easy to fix/change?

I have no new messages, I have done repeated battery pulls, I have changed themes, I have gone through all my email accounts. I havd searched through this board, and don't see any other ideas that might solve this issue. At this point the little #1 at the top of my screen is my arch nemesis. Anyone have any other ideas?

View 6 Replies View RelatedA lot of the time when I'm texting the letters take quite a while to show up and most of the time will be incorrect from how I typed it out. I know I type pretty fast but that shouldn't have anything to do with it being this slow. It often has me going back to correct it because of this just making it take even more time to send a message. This has happened on my old phone before at times when I would be texting back in a relatively large thread but some of these on this phone don't even have that many messages so I don't believe that is the reason.

Its as if the BB9700 cant tell the difference between a BBM or and SMS text.
I had some messages not being sent so did a battery pull (possible cause of issue?)
Now when I get a text it shows up in the SMS And MMS folder but in the folder the icon is like a little bubble with lines in it whereas it used to be an envelope.
Also, when I get a SMS from a contact who is in my BBM, the SMS shows up in both the SMS And MMS folder and in BBMessenger. It never did this before. Th icon for the text message is a little black phone.
I have not done any OS changes or added any apps. This just started happening yesterday.
Any help to get it back like original would be appreciated.
My wife has an iphone 4 and I just got the iphone 4s. I can text other people no problem but there are issues when I text my wife. If I create a text using Siri, she doesn't get it. When I type a text, she usually gets it, but not always. I have no problems sending/receiving texts with anyone else. And I've received every text she has sent. She has no problems sending/receiving texts from other people.

As I used PC Suite for texting via PC 2nd can any one tell me where I can down load all info for mem card as I had to replace my SD card so have no help files or software.I have been useing Satio and Vivaz up till now so finding it hard to get on with are screen lock up's common for the x10 also is there a way to stop my texts coming up as threads ? As would like them to come up as text's in order as they come in .
