Jun 28, 2010I am trying to recover the contact details from my son's 6700 classic, whilst being unable to see anything on the phone screen. I would like to connect the phone to Nokia PC suite and select the backup option to copy all the contact details to my PC. Unfortunately he has damaged the screen and nothing at all is showing.
What I would like to know therefore is exactly which buttons need to be pressed on the phone after the USB connector has been inserted to ensure that PC suite is selected; because at present although the phone is recognised by my PC, PC suite is reporting that a phone is not connected. I have successfully copied all Images etc from the phone (memory card?) but the only way I know to get at the contact data is via PC suite, unless of course anyone knows differently.
History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i
Current: Nokia N82 (with Access to a 5800XM)

But there is a difference in search option for contacts.The first phone (black in the pic) has normal old fashioned keypad which occupies the whole screen. Dec 23, 2010I just bought a brand the N8 a couple of days ago, and went to change the caller photo on one of my friends, so that I'd see his ugly face when he was calling me. I'm not sure how I messed this up but that now everyone in my phonebook has his face stuck to the background of the call-screen whenever I call someone or receive a call.
I tried to just rename the photo but then when I tried to make a call my phone would deny it. I simply could not make a call from it. How wasted is that?
So I rename the photo, reboot my phone, and I'm still calling everyone with his ugly face stuck to my ear.

Jan 1, 2011Over the last few days I've received text messages from some friends who have new numbers. I saved the numbers to their existing contacts, overwriting the old numbers.
Despite having restarted the phone several times and removing the sim card, whenever I look at my texts, the messages from these numbers only show the number they were sent from, rather than the contact's name.
I have had a look online and it seems that this problem is usually caused by duplicate contacts. I have used the phone's search function to make sure that each number only appears once, and there are also no duplicate contact names.
Some other advice online suggests that the area code could be problematic. I have tried changing the beginning of each number to 0 rather than +44 (and back again) - no difference, I am now at a loss and unable to tell who is texting me without using the search function, which is pretty ridiculous.
