View 3 RepliesI own an E7 and initially it had an option to select Walk for GPS navigation. I found it useful as it gave a short route to my destination.
Now that option has been taken away from Maps and we only have a Drive option and normal Maps which doesnt give route suggestions. The Drive gives only routes where cars are allowed and hence cutting across through a one-way is not given. This is not useful when one is walking.
how the WALK option can be restored to my phone.
I just got my nokia 5230. I tried the walk navigation, but after I set a destination, the route displayed is only a straight line between the start and end point. This is not walk navigation. I looked up Internet, it is said that I need to purchase a license for using walk and drive navigation.
But Nokia anounced that all navigation are free? Why should we still pay for it?By the way, I tried drive navigation, but the route is not a straight line fortunately, it's a normal route.
I have upgraded my Ovi Map to the latest FREE version in my 5800XM.and also download the Map data and voice data using Map loader application, but now when I enter the setting of Ovi Map.Under the " Walk navigation".It show me "None".And then when I select it and want to select one item named "Beeps and vibrations".It request me to "download Walk navigation"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan't find Maps Loader on the Nokia Site. I remember, it was there before 2011.Site offers me to download this monstrouos, slow, overloaded Nokia Suite I don't need anymore. It's enough I have ZUNE.My platform Nokia E72. Mobile application can't download complete maps itself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to understand what is free and what isn't with the GPS on my Nokia 5800, which I bought last week. I'm in Ontario, Canada. I have downloaded maps and voice guidance from the Nokia / Ovi website, and my phone has now begun to talk to me, which is rather fun. I know I can use the GPS positioning stuff free of any charges if I don't have the aGPS setting on.
To my question(s): apparently, I now have a 90 day "Drive & Walk License" on my phone. What does that enable me to do? And what won't I be able to do once the 90 days is finished? Will the voice guidance disappear after 90 days, or what?
I really am having difficulty understanding what is free and forever, but, whatever it is, it seems like it's probably a good thing...!
It seems impossible to make at route in the drive or walk mode, as maps won´t search for any roadnames?
View 6 Replies View RelatedA question on "route planning": If I want to drive/walk from point A to C via B, using Maps 3.03 (on an E52), how is that accomplished? Note: with the phone alone, without syncing with Ovi Maps.If "A" is my current destination, it's easy to set "C" (set destination) and be on the road right away. But, if I want to add a new route point "B", I only get the option to add a "category" close by and NOT a favorite or a location by search or history. Actually, pretty useless, if you plan to drive from Paris to Berlin via Amsterdam, to mention one theoretical example.I have noted that many people look for this, however, I found no good answers. If not available in Maps 3.03,any inkling if/when this may be added? The simple answer is, of course, to plan two routes rather than one "via" route.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed ovi maps but when I try to use the navigation feature it tell me my license has expired. It's because there's an old trial license for walk and drive still on my phone. Is there a way to remove this license? I can't seem to find where to remove it anywhere
View 4 Replies View RelatedFree Drive navigationFree Walk navigationFree maps and map updates" As it says on the website. I have updated my Nokia N97 to the latest firmware (2.0) and installted the map loader. I have downloaded the latest maps and installed them to the phone. Then when I try to "drive to" on the maps, it says "Your license expired on 15.11.2009" and wants me to purchase a subscription?
a) Am i doing something wrong?
b) Are they actually free?
I've seen than HTC phones with similar features than Nokia or Motorola cell phones for instance are cheaper.. Why is that?? For instance HTC Touch Viva is cheaper than Nokia 5800, Nokia 6790 or Motorola MOTOZINE ZN5... Why is that? What are HTC phones disadvantages compared with other brands phones?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Nokia Navigation 2.0 with some maps on my Lumia phone. But how can I find out the version of the installed maps? And how can I check the actual existing version of the maps on the Nokia server?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf instructions upon page 77 of N9 UG (Eng) not clear enough you do need to download appropriate voice file with street names as none installed by default. After you have chosen "Walking person" icon > Get directions > Navigate you need to tap upon grey tool bar at base of screen After selecting Voice Guidance > tap on select voice to reveal choices available.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download my music but WP8 uses the Windows Phone App client in Windows 8. Wll, when I tried connecting my phone, it says "Your phone is having troubles" error message. The instruction says to power off the phone. But no luck. Tried searching MS community but nothing there (but I won't rule out I didn't search well. Also, I posted the same question there and waiting for a response.)

Maps 3.08 does not let me calibrate my compass (at least not by ticking once or twice at the compass). By consequence, while navigating it does not orientate the display with the top in the forward direction. I found a workaround by using a separate compass application, calibrate the compass there, and then Maps works perfect. There must be a easier way to calibrate the compass from within the Maps application.
View 8 Replies View RelatedNavigation used to work fine on my X6, but since having to do a hard reset of the phone (due to other problems!) I cannot use the Navigation.
Everytime I get the error 'navigation cannot start at this location' and it doesn't seem like the phone can ever pick up my location.I have tried un-installing and re-installing the application but to no-avail!I haven't even wasted my time calling Nokia Support, as they are totally useless!
getting very frustrated with this now. I have given my dad my N95 to help him get around but just cant get the map navigation to work. I downloaded the Nokia Map Loader (I had to go to a third party website as the Nokia links were all broken) and have the map/voices but when my dad tries to use the navigation it tells him he has to pay.Obviously, I know that Nokia have now made these services free to complete with other company's devices, I'm just being stupid and not going to the right place to download them. When i go to www.nokia.com/maps on the phone it doesnt do anything. I've been trying for over a day now and the phone has almost made contact with the wall a few time

Someone got a brandnew N97 from O2 in Germany. The interesting thing is the packages says "Made in China". My own N97 was made in Finland, as expected. Does Nokia really assemble some N97 in China? Or could this be a faked phone!? But I do not expect O2 to sell faked phones. What does Nokia say about this? Here you can see a picture of the package:

Anyone know how it usually works for shipments to Apple stores after a big launch like this? Any chance they will continue to get shipments?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy carrier is TMobile in the US. I like them as a a carrier, but what's a bit annoying is the lack of phones supporting 3G on TMO. I'm limited to a few models only, mostly directly from them.Does anybody know what the chances are that this will change in the future? That Nokia will have more models with compatible bands? Or will this particular band always be left as a **bleep**, mere afterthought of a band?
