So I have older version of Nokia Maps running on my N96.I wanted to remove it.I couldn't see it via App Manager, but I thought I can remove it by clicking on Options --> Remove from the menu.I get "Remove Failed" everytime I do this. Is there another way of doing this? I don't really want to format my memory card for this.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI got the Nokia e63 in April 2010. One of the things I did first was:
1. Update Ovi Store app on the phone
2. Ran Nokia Maps on the phone (applicaiton already on the phone) or downloaded Ovi Maps from the Ovi Store - cant remember.
3. Regardless of how I did (2) I managed to install country maps for specific areas (US New York, UK etc) by using Ovi PC Suite
So all ok so far. Now I started putting more applications and games on the phone but it kept getting slower and slower - to a point it would not render the screen properly or mix two screens into one. I have a 2 gig memory card in it with only less than 20% in use - the phone memory had over 80Meg free. So really could not understand why it performed so badly. Anyway I spent several hours resetting the phoning and doing all the above again - but OVi Maps does not install any more (I get Installation Failed message).
To add more headache - the internet was very slow and I had to attempt several times to update Ovi Store after each reset - finally gave up and had to use a WLAN connection. When I go to the Ovi Store web site on my pc and find Ovi Maps - there is now a message saying its not available for e63. Yet that was not what I recall because I have installed Ovi Maps on the phone before and installed the additional country maps on several occassions (the last one being as recent as May 2010 - last month) All of a sudden Ovi Maps is not compatible with the Nokia E63? The Ovi Store app on the phone gives no indication of compatibilty issue with the phone - so you can keep downloading it and using up your internet allowance and it keeps failing to install without giving any useful message.
I have a Nokia N97 with Map Version 0.1.24.114 installed (clicking About in Maps also shows v3.03 so I am not sure which one is the one i should refer to). I get a text notification from Nokia saying I have a map update so I check software update and indeed version 3.04(165) is there but I cannot update> Please advise. My navigation and turn-by-turn guidance (as well as weather, lonely planet and events) all work but I want to have the latest maps version for accuracy.

I have since updated to firmware v2.1, done a hard reset and reformatted my device. Attempting an over the air update get the message "update failed"! Only app I have listed as installed is the ovi store client.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI think I have broken Ovi Maps search. The problem happened when I chose to clear device. Settings ->task manager -> clear device
Ovi maps then failed to return any kind of search results even as general as Stuttgart to as precise as street names. I then proceeded to reflash to PR1.2 using flasher 3.5.exe and reflashed the vanilla eMMC as found in maemo dev repository. The problem persists. Even after loading some maps using the Map Loader, the problem persists. I think I have cleared some indexing capability of the device.
I can not update the maps ovi 3.04 because fault in installation of new software (error number 5). This happens after updating v 50 in NOKIA 5800.

I have gone on nokia and downloaded the N97 mini but it dont show me the paths thro the park and ally ways. It takes me the long way round only shows me the roads when im on walk mood :S. and dont show me the 3D land marks =S.

View 11 Replies View Relatedim facing a problem with installin the ovi maps.. yesterday i deleted the nokia maps from the application manager tab in the settings as an error kept coming asking to move or delete items from C: as memory was full.. i deleted the nokia maps alone cos of which 15 mb of free space was there in C:.. so i decided to update the ovi maps again but it kept on getting failed... i tried in the nokia ovi suite n the software updater as well by connecting the phone to my pc.. it says maps couldnt be installed as there is a missing dependency..

View 10 Replies View RelatedSince N79 for some unknown reason is not in a list of phones with free navigation option, the preinstalled mapping software is completely unusable and all I want is to remove it. Unfortunately none of data suite / ovi suite versions (don't use ovi!!!) gives such possibility. Since there is navigation software like Garmin which does not require buying new licences each time you need to navigate - and I need it every day, keeping Nokia OEM software is just a waste of space.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWould someone be able to advise me on how to remove Maps v3.04?I already had v3.03 and thought I would try the latest version. There are some features that I am not happy with (not realising it was a beta version!!)
I then tried to downgrade to v3.03. It goes through the installation and then my phone reports Unknown error -5.I tested again - it believes I have v3.03(246) already, and again error -5.I check in maps and the version is v3.04I have obviously confused matters.
Do you know how to safely remove all versions so that I can start again with v3.03? I have read a few topics where people have been able to uninstall - but then still can't get v3.03 to install. I dont want to be in that situation
I know we can't remove the maps v3.08 from our phone(mine nokia c7) itself because it is not showing in apps manager.But i found out an alternate way.I have not yet tried it ,but u can see if it works and tell us about it.For this use the "Nokia PC Suite v 7.1.62.1" and not nokia ovi suite on ur pc.If u go to application manager in the pc suite it shows all the apps installed including the nokia maps 3.08 and its other files also.

When the GPS is on, and the blue arrow is pointing where I am, above the arrow is my gmail icon inside a blue square. Is there any way to remove this?!? It's a massive square on the phone that really doesn't need to be there. I know who I am! And the blue arrow is enough.

It does so much for so little. I just wish nokia made their phones more apps friendly.My E5 does not have a mobile carrier phone plan since I have another phone that does that. This E5 is set up as a rough duty phone for the phone features such as sports tracker.
For the phone to work with WIFI with Mail for Exchange's auto email retreival, (since I don't have data since my phone has no service) I had to get an old expired sim card from another phone. (won't auto retreive with phone in offline mode)But the phone always displays "Sim card registration failed" and I have to click out of it constantly. Is there a way to remove that notification? I already know that it failed. It's an expired card just to get the phone to work in General mode.
I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.

I have a problem with my Maps Application. Firstly I only have 9 icons on the Maps display page instead of the 10 that is shown on the Nokia website, I have found I do not have the Michelin guides........any ideas why?
I cannot download the Here and Now 2.0, it states that the Installation failed and have tried many times to reinstall it. Does this have anything to do with the missing Michelin Guide icon not being there?
I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. After a few seconds (around 10 or so) the phone restarts.I deleted Cities folder and the file QF, rebooted, reinstalled etc. nothing helps.

Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
About a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps?Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?

Sorry if this has been asked already but a couple of things :How do I check what maps are actually installed on my phone?How do I know if there are newer map versions available than whats installed on my phone?Im asking this because I noticed the Ireland map on maps.ovi.com is more up to date than whats on my phone. If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis). The error message that shows up in the phone is: It doesn’t work to install this file, the unit is built in! And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis /I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn’t seems to be an option ! Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
After opening Ovi Maps, and going to any function. The software/program, shuts itself down before I can proceed to 'my position', 'drive', or even 'walk'. I cannot even seacrh or go to settings.
