Nokia Lumia :: Wifi Connectivity Disconnects Automatically?
Oct 31, 2012
I brought this Lumia 600 a couple of weeks ago. My issue is Wifi connects initially but after playing sometime with the XBox games.. the WIFI automatically disconnects giving no reasons but the phone is not hung. Then i have to reboot the phone to get the wifi back...again after 15 mins it disconnects...and this process continues.
I have an E5. I have been connecting the phone to my pc since I bought the phone. But from a few days the phone disconnects from the computer automatically without any reason. I formatted my computer but no effect. I have many times resetted my phone.
I wasn't getting any traction on this when I posted it on the sticky bug defect page so I figured I would try a new thread.
I have had my 950 for about a month and a half and I really like it except for the issue I am having with WiFi. When it connects it gives me message that there is No Internet Access. And if I try something like web browsing I get an error because the phone is trying to use the WiFi connection instead of the Cell connection. This happens in multiple locations. I have this issue about 90% of the time and rebooting the phone fixes the issue about half the time.
I'm loving my lumia 800, but this bluetooth problem is driving me crazy! The handset pairs fine with the head unit in my c class Merc, I can make and receive calls and text messages, but it continually disconnect the bluetooth as though the phone is powering bluetooth off and then powering it back up and reconnecting. This sometimes happens every 30-40 seconds other days it can be ever 3-5 minutes. The head unit works fine with my blackberry, htc desire and a mates iphone so I know that's not at fault. I've tried deleting the pairing and restoring my phone prior to the update but all to no avail.
I keep the location settings on lumia 610 always turned on. I have observed that if I sit at a place, stationary, then the GPS is connected instantly and I can see my location on the map. But whenever I'm traveling in a bus / car the handset cannot find its location using GPS. It shows "Looking for GPS" message for all the time.
Is this a 1. GPS hardware issue ? 2. Some s/w update issue ? 3. Satellite issue ?
I am writing to express my disappointment with the Nokia product I purchased recently.
I bought an E66 handset from Carrefour in Shanghai last month, thinking that it would have full features.
With the Nokia site for China not having any information available in English, I used the Nokia site from Oman (where I am currently living) to research the specifications.
It was not until I returned to Oman that I realized that the E66 sold in China and the E66 sold elsewhere was not actually the same phone.
The phone that I bought is missing key features that persuaded me to buy it in the first place. It is missing:
Front camera. 3G capabilities. WiFi connectivity. Lifetime navigation with OviMaps. Plus a range of other features that I was looking for.
This is marketed as a business phone, yet is missing the features I need to properly conduct business.
I do not understand why a global brand such as Nokia would ensure that the E66 model would have the same features universally.
I am thoroughly upset and disappointed at Nokia; having been a Nokia user for more than 12 years I have been let down by the brand that I have remained loyal to. Essentially, I was misled into buying a very bad phone.
Is there any way that you can explain the reasons behind the difference in the Chinese and Global E66 and/or equip me with an E66 that has the features I am looking for?
No problems until recently. I've noticed at Home & Work where I spend 90% of my time the WiFi has not connected (and I end up using my Data Plan). So once I notice it I have to connect manually and its fine. Both networks show up in advanced at "known".

My iPhone 4S didn't have any problems with connecting to the Wi-Fi at home. However, recently, even when I have the Wi-Fi on and the Wi-Fi icon appears, the Wi-Fi will suddenly disconnect while I'm browsing. I've reset my phone, but nothing's changed.
I have the Xperia Z3, Until recently, my phone was fine. About 3 weeks ago it started disconnecting from my home wifi, this is extremely annoying. It does it when it feels like. Mostly when ive been idle for a bit, but does occur at other times too, in the middle of a written conversation it disconnects.
Things ive tried:
Resetting Router, moving it. Resetting apps on phone to default. Forgetting the Wifi connection and re connecting it.
My E7 connects to the wifi smoothly but it last only for a minute though wifi icon on the top shows its connected. I need to manually update all my homescreen widgets, Nimbuzz or any other online app disconnects in the background mode, even while browsing, if idle for a minute it gets disconnected, i have to refresh my wifi connection after every minute.!!
When my wifi disconnects the mobile data (internet) doesn't come straight on i have to switch my phone off and back on the it comes on then. It is ever since the recent update got installed.
I used up my data plan very quickly in the last 2 days because the iPhone would not stay connected to Wi-Fi when I was streaming music form SkyFM through my new docked speakers. I had read that the iPhone was supposed to keep its Wi-Fi connection when plugged in but this does not appear to be true. The phone is a 3GS running iOS 5.1 (regretably) which by the way has slowed the phone to a crawl even worse than iOS 4 had.
I tried connecting my Xperia Mini ST15i phone to our house's wifi connection. It will connect but after a few seconds it will disconnect then reconnect again.
When i turn on wi-fi i am using the internet from the Wi-Fi. But when I turn off the Wi-Fi,reconnects me automatically to the internet and turns off on second or third try.
I just joined Verizon and my Droid 2 Global came in the mail yesterday! The biggest issues I've had so far are battery life and Wi-Fi disconnects.
For now I just want to ask about the Wi-Fi because I cannot seem to find a decent or consistent answer online (using Google or here in the forums). So the issue... I turn on Wi-Fi, connect to the router, and 2 seconds later it says "disconnected". The router I'm using is a Linksys WRT-150N and my phone software version is 2.4.330.A956.
I can connect to my home wifi fine and it has great signal but the phone keeps disconnecting when it sleeps and never reconnects. The wifi network has a password and everytime it makes me enter it. is there away it can remember this password so that it automatically connects? and is there a way to stop it disconnecting maybe an app?
At home, I have my xoom set to automatically connect to my home WiFi network. But, recently, my xoom constantly disconnects from the WiFi. For example, when I open Google Talk, the application is disconnected and must reconnect...every time I open it up. Plus the WiFi icon at the bottom of the Xoom will go from blue color to white color automatically. I even have the setting checked to stay connected to this WiFi network when in range.
I'm having issues with wifi connection. It is not more than 5 minutes connected, it looses the connection and disconnect. Is it because of the update I got a few weeks ago?
I have been searching the internet for solutions for my Wi-Fi constantly disconnecting since the 2.3.6 update. I am hoping that the next update will fix it, but I am worried. My warranty will be expired by the time it comes out.
Whenever my phone disconnects from wi-fi, it makes a short noise. Apart from why it is disconnecting all the time, the noise is annoying because the phone is set to vibrate - hence it shouldn't be making any sound at all! I'm using the stock 5.1 ROM on the S6 international version.
I know this has been working before, and I really need to connect my iPad via Bluetooth to my iPhone so that I can then use the Wireless via my iPhone. Unfortunately, every time I connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth the WiFi on the iPhone disconnects.
I have a problem that my WiFi network disconnects and disappear from the list. Even if I search for network it will not show up. It looks like a lot of the other WiFi networks around me is also missing when this is happening. It will suddenly come back again and work as it should for several hours.
I have i locked to 2,4GHz, WiFi always on, scanning is on.
Had the same problem when I used Auto 2,4GHz/5GHz.
All other devices is working as they should. Have also reset the wireless router. (Netgear X4 R7500)
My wifi and packet data connections are set to turn on "After Confirmation" (instead of Automatic).FOr Internet access, Maps, and Nokia Messaging I have set the Access Point to Wifi and set it to "Always Ask" (for incoming & outgoing). Before I set up Nokia Messaging for my POP account the wifi would come on whenever I selected the Access point when an application requested it, and then turn off once the application was closed. However, after I have set up Nokia Messaging with 4 hour sync the wifi keeps turning on by itself. Even if I disconnect the active connection it turns on automatically within a couple of minutes.Nokia Messaging pops up every four hours asking if it can use the wifi. Even if I have terminated the active wifi a couple of minutes earlier, it will turn on as soon as I select "Cancel" for the popup from Nokia Messaging. In other words, no matter what I do, wifi turns on automatically and stays on till I disconnect it after which it turns on automatically.I have updated to the latest firmware nokia had for the phone. I have rechecked the settings several times and made sure no other application is active or trying to access the Net.All I am looking for is for the wifi ti turn on when checking mail and then turn off untill needed after 4 hours, so that batter life is not being used uselessly.
I recently noticed that my Bionic appears to disconnect from wifi when the screen locks. When I unlock the screen (and I have the dot pattern unlock), there's no wifi icon for a few seconds.
I have unlimited data, but still keep my DB on wifi all the time at home and the office. I'm guessing the DB goes into 4G or 3G mode when locked, which could be problematical if I had a measured data plan. Anyone else notice this behavior?
My daughter (who lives in another town) and I just switched from Samsung Mesmerize to Electrify phones. We both have D-Link DIR-655 routers in our homes. Although we had no problem using wifi with our old phones, the Electrify searches, connects and then immediately disconnects. I've spent hours checking out the router software as the admin, checking on line to see if others have reported this and I've tried every combination of options on the Electrify. We're both running Win7 and both use our routers successfully on other wireless devices in our homes.
