No problems until recently. I've noticed at Home & Work where I spend 90% of my time the WiFi has not connected (and I end up using my Data Plan). So once I notice it I have to connect manually and its fine. Both networks show up in advanced at "known". Is this a "bug" caused by a recent update?

From what I remember, it used to do that all by itself and connect with any other network that I've connected to in the past automatically. It no longer does that. I'm not finding any answers on Google that work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a black lumia 1020. During the initial set up after I press 'next' from the welcome screen I am afterwards asked to sign into my MS account. It does not ask me to first connect to a wifi network. Due to this I can't sync all my backed up information. I know with my lumia 920, out of the box with no sim card inside I was asked to connect to wifi before being asked for a MS account. Is this an issue with the lumia 1020, not being able to sync with a back up file?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having some weird issues with the WIFI connections when my phone is on airplane mode. I can't connect to both of my home WIFI - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both of the SSIDs are not being displayed at all, until I turned off airplane mode. However, both my Nexus 7 (2013) and HTC One are working fine with their airplane modes.Is this some crazy limitations of Windows Phone again?

It knows they're there, because if I go to Settings -> WiFi, it shows up in the list as a "saved" one. Tapping on it and selecting "connect" does nothing. I have to turn off the WiFi and turn it back on, and it will then automatically connect.
Additionally, WiFi will not stay off. If I'm some place I don't want it to connect to WiFi, I turn it off so that I don't get messages that networks are available (specifically when I'm driving, it's really annoying to deal with that over Waze).
I've got a Sprint GS5, running stock (not rooted), on 5.0. No updates available for the phone. It does this on every WiFi network I have saved (home, school, and school apartment, among others). I've also tried turning Smart Switch off and on, it makes no difference for either issue.
I got a new iPhone 4S on May 15, 2012. It worked great at the AT&T store and connected to their secure wireless no problem. I spent 6 hours at home trying to get it to connect to my wifi network - it couldn't find mine or any of only 1 of the other 5 that my iMac can find. I have a Netgear WNDR3700 (the dual band n) router that the iMac, the Macbook, two TiVos and my old 3G phone connect with no problem - and all these devices except the iMac are downstairs in the opposite side of the house from the router. So...I reset my network settings on the phoneI turned wifi on and off again on the phoneI turned airport mode on and off again on the phoneI turned the phone off and restarted itI updated the firmware and the GUI on my routerI took off the security, walked up to the router until the phone was 3 inches away, and it found the network and connected. Safari worked fine on wifi. I walked 5 feet away and the wifi was gone. (The phone will find and connect to my neighbor's unsecured network, but drops the connection if I move more than 5 feet from where I picked it up.)I reinstated the WPA2 security, held the phone 3 inches from the router and connected via the passphrase. Signal dropped again at 5 feet away. I restarted the cable modem (just for kicks) and the router. I changed the router security keys. I added the phone's MAC address to the access list on my routerI did a factory restore on my router, changed the network names and passphrases.I took my phone to the gym, Starbucks and the Apple Store. It connected to the wifi and even made backups on iCloud. It lost the connection at the gym when I went upstairs, but it was still connected when I was outside in the parking lot, so who knows about that. At my Apple Store Genius Bar appt. - which the Apple support guy made for me after he'd been on the phone with me for an hour with no result - the guy immediately gave me A BRAND NEW PHONE. He said it must be a wifi chip problem and that they get about one of those phones a month. I thought, "Lucky me, I won the lemon phone lottery!" I switched my info to the new phone via iCloud while I was in the store and took my brand new phone home: it still sees no networks except my neighbor's and doesn't stay connected for more than 5 seconds. It makes no difference whether I remove the security or not - the phone absolutely will not find my network or any of the other 5 networks near my home.

I bought my iPhone last week from a friend, and took it to the AT&T store and it connected to the wifi there. When I brought it home it didn't even detect my network unless I was standing right next to my dad's computer, which is above our router. It will connect in any other area with wifi, just not at home. I have tried restoring it from a recent back up, and as a new phone. I have turned it on and off, I have tried resetting the network settings. Nothing works. I don't the taking it to the genius bar would be much help because my phone is out of warranty and I don't want to pay $200.00.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy new 1020 doesn't seem to connect to my PC. My 920 connects just fine, I plug it in, I hear the USB connection sound and the app pops up. But my 1020 on the same cable, nothing. The Device Manager doesn't even pick up that anything is there, though the phone does show that it's being charged. I know it's not the cable, and b/c my 920 works it's probably not the PC. I'm worried b/c I installed 8.1 on both my phones and technically that voids the warranty. So if this is a bad device, I may be screwed.

Every message I try to send states "Cannot connect to chat right not, but we are trying." I have tried removing my facebook account from my phone and my windows account from facebook, and it didn't work. I was almost thinking it might be some sort of update I am missing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm a new android user. The problem I'm having is that when my wifi drops out or if I come home the Internet on my phone does not switch back from mobile data to wifi. I'm with bigpond and I have put the password into my phone and I don't need to put the password in each time but when I go to wifi settings it says sign in required and I press connect and the wifi turns on. As soon as I come home or the Internet drops out it switched back to 3G and doesn't connect back to wifi unless I do what I mentioned above.

I also have the smart network switch toggled to off. I have reset my telstra router.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my Droid Xyboard set so that the if the screen turns off and its not plugged into the power adapter, the wifi will disconnect. (Under Wifi Settings > Wi-Fi disconnect Policy > select "Never when plugged in"). The wifi is supposed to connect automatically when I turn the screen on (I assume), but that doesn't always happen, many times it just sits there searching for a connection, and I have to manually turn off the wifi radio, then turn it on again, and then it connects automatically.
I have my IP settings set to "static" - which has improved the problem I think, but has not completely solved it. My security setting on my router is (WPA/WPA2 PSK) - but this happens with other wifi networks as well. My Mobile network connection is always turned off, unless I come to use it, I manually turn on the 3G/4G LTE radio.
Are there any Cloud Storage apps that let you upload High Res pics without connecting it to computer?
Skydrive is limited to 5MB correct? Is there any way around it?

the most annoying "feature" of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is that it impossible to switch the phone OFF when you don't need it.
This moronic phone decides on its own when to switch ON - as soon as the battery is charged just enough to start it, it tries to start, drains the battery and 5 minutes later tries again to start and keeps repeating this vicious circle to no end.
When you connect to a charger strong enough, it will charge BUT you SIMPLE CAN'T SWITCH IT OFF when you don't need it - this idiotic phone keeps restarting until the battery is drained!!!

When i put my mobile for charging, it automatically starts taking pictures and continues taking them. It takes about 800 pictures within an hour. What I can do. Iv tried soft resetting many times but problem still remains. My phone becomes super heated after that. Its been 2 months since i bought my phone from an online store.

I have an ADB wireless router and a very slow internet conection , and although my 2 laptops connect to the wifi here in Portugal, my blackberry curve 8520 on vodafone PT, doesnt connect , it identifies the network and shows wifi logo in grey and under network connections it showsthe network name with a white dash next to it and the signal strength.i have tried different setting on the router such as: wpa2, wpa, wep and open, but i get the same result.my internet speed is only 213kbps, would this effect the wifi? i have tried deleting the network and then taking out the battery while witched on etc....
