i had copied my 6300's contacts to PC suite. Now, i have a 6700 and i would like to restore all those contacts to this new phone. On my pc, under "PC SUITE" directory, i still have a directory with the serial number as the name of the directory. When i start the new version of PC SUITE, i could not find my old contacts.

I have a problem with viewing the maps in nokia ovi suit. I just bought a new Nokia E72 I installed OVI Maps but when I connect device to Ovi Suit click on maps and click for Europe, All, Asia or whatever it does nothing, it doesn't give me a choice to install the maps of particular countries. How shluld I fix it?

I just wanted to back up my address book contacts from my Nokia 6300, using Nokia PC Suite. Unfortunately, the backup process stopped before completing, backing up only 13 contacts. Then, it synchronized these 13 contacts back to my cellphone, deleting all other 400 contacts on the phone.
Do you have any idea on how i can recover those lost contacts? I have already checked the Nokia PC Suite backup file using Noki software, however it also only shows 13 contacts. Also checked the PCCSContact file in the application data folder with SQLite3 Manager. However, it doesnt show any more contacts either. Any chance I can access the contacts on the mobile phone storage card?
I am using the nokia 6700 classic and when I select "recently used" to populate the To: field of a text message I get the same 4 contacts every time. It seems to have stopped updating at some point, because even if I select new recipients from my contacts they do not get added to the "recently used" list. This is sort of a annoying, so I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or found a solution. I would rather not do a factory reset of the phone if I don't have to.
My firmware is 10.50.
I get an error when trying to add or edit a contact. It says "SIM card error" followed by "Contacts: already in use". The change is then not visible in contacts, ie no new contact can be seen and no changes have been made. The contact is only updated when I turn the phone off then on again. Obviously this is not a practical solution so is there any other more permanent solution?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have put my sim card containing all my contact numbers into my 6700 slide. However, I can't seem to access the numbers now. When I go to Menu > contacts, under the 'Phone' contacts I have nothing, and yet when I change to 'Contacts' it changes to the 'Ovi' menu. I can't remember how to get back to the menu to chose Sim contacts. For some reason, I can't seem to copy over my SIM contact to my phone, I've been through every menu and there's nothing. I've even taken the sim out and put it back into my old phone and all the numbers are showing but I just can't seem to access them at all when putting back into my new nokia. I"m worried that I'm going to have to write them all out and recreate them all manually, surely there's a better way than this?

When I use the Phone Switch option on my 6700, it says that the service is not supported by the new device. I've tried exporting the contacts on my PC from my 6700 using Nokia Suite, but for some reason the exported .vcf files only include the contact names and not the numbers.

I am trying to recover the contact details from my son's 6700 classic, whilst being unable to see anything on the phone screen. I would like to connect the phone to Nokia PC suite and select the backup option to copy all the contact details to my PC. Unfortunately he has damaged the screen and nothing at all is showing.
What I would like to know therefore is exactly which buttons need to be pressed on the phone after the USB connector has been inserted to ensure that PC suite is selected; because at present although the phone is recognised by my PC, PC suite is reporting that a phone is not connected. I have successfully copied all Images etc from the phone (memory card?) but the only way I know to get at the contact data is via PC suite, unless of course anyone knows differently.

My Nokia 6700 Classic Screen is broken and I need to copy the contacts from phone to sim. The phone still works. I just cant see what I am doing. Tried the Nokia computer program but I had issues with the USB cable.

Now i want update the Firmware on my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, the Ovi Suit takes long to find the Firmware update on the Update Screen. Then i click the "Install" Button. Then it tooks some time to determine some infos from Phone. Then i see the next screen with the Infos that current V 31.0.101 is on the phone and V 40.0.005 is the new firmware that i want to install. After click "next" i agree with the Terms and click again "next". Now i make a Backup of my current Phone Settings and Data and after that i Click "install". Now i have display something like "prepare download" (on german version: "Herunterladen wird vorbereitet...") but nothing happens, no network traffic or similar no change also after 1h waiting. I tried with disabled Firewall and AV but no effect.
Has someone a idea what i coul'd do?
I have been trying my level best to connect my e71 with pc suit but i am unable to do so. When i install pc suit and click on the box "click here to connect phone" a wizard starts it goes till third step when it asks to connect mobile via cable it searches then says shows an error problem with usb connection. I am unable even to use my mobile as mass storage.

2. Once the installed maps are read from the phone, Ovi tells me that 'Updated maps are available'. Clicking on this message Ovi the pointer changes to a combined left-right arrow and stays there.
3. Now Ovi goes and reads the phone again, looking for installed maps - this time it takes LONGER, before I have the option to update my maps. This process of course takes forever too, but at least this is understandable - loading large files takes time.
4. I have the maps of the US; Canada; UK Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland installed. Which one(s) will be updated?
5. Also I am back from Europe, I no longer need the Irish maps. Why can't I selectively delete/de-install them? Why do I have to delete ALL maps and reload the US and Canada?
i have nokia 500 which is awesome smart phone, but here is problem with it, when i try to connect my cell phone with nokia suit to save my massages and other contents on my PC, it does not synchronize with the nokia suit, i want to know that if there is Hardware problem or software??

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 6300 and when I lock the keypad - pressing joystick then * It locks ok but if it remains locked for a while unlocking it takes a few attempts.It's as if the joystick button needs to be pressed a few times.It is on power saver and sleep mode and when I hit the joystick button there is a darkened screen and I can make out the instruction to hit * but hitting * doesn't unlock it.I then have to hit the joystick button a few times till a brightly lit up screen appears before I can hit * and unlock it.

A friend can bookmark this page on his phone and call it "Hornsey". He can do the same for the page for "Kings Cross". Now he has a number of pages, one for each of the stations he commonly uses and all named after the station - great.
But my 6300 doesn't seem to allow this. All my bookmarks are named after the WAP page title - "Departures". Yes, I have multiple pages all heolpfully bookmarked as "Departures". So how can I save pages using sensible bookmark names and rename the ones I already have with useless names?
I have a 6300 import that I brought home from a vacation, but when I popped in my SIM car, it turned on, but there is a message were the name of the server is, said "No Service". There is service, but the most confusing part of it to me is that it is not tied to a carrier. What is wrong?
