Nokia :: Can't Access All Contacts And Numbers In 6700 Slide
May 16, 2010
I have put my sim card containing all my contact numbers into my 6700 slide. However, I can't seem to access the numbers now. When I go to Menu > contacts, under the 'Phone' contacts I have nothing, and yet when I change to 'Contacts' it changes to the 'Ovi' menu. I can't remember how to get back to the menu to chose Sim contacts. For some reason, I can't seem to copy over my SIM contact to my phone, I've been through every menu and there's nothing. I've even taken the sim out and put it back into my old phone and all the numbers are showing but I just can't seem to access them at all when putting back into my new nokia. I"m worried that I'm going to have to write them all out and recreate them all manually, surely there's a better way than this?
I get an error when trying to add or edit a contact. It says "SIM card error" followed by "Contacts: already in use". The change is then not visible in contacts, ie no new contact can be seen and no changes have been made. The contact is only updated when I turn the phone off then on again. Obviously this is not a practical solution so is there any other more permanent solution?
I've had this phone for 2 weeks but haven't been able to find any video editing application. It's definitely listed in the specification. I've checked the menu when opening a file and there's no option to edit there either.
Can anyone tell me how to reduce volume when playing Bounce in games? This phone does not have a volume rocker and I can't see how to turn the sound down when I am in Bounce. It's very loud. The only thing I've been able to do is to set the phone to silent. Surely there is a way to adjust the volume when in games?
Was hooked on the N95 and after I took on a 6700 which still works fine but has battle damage! Im either going to get another 6700 or something newer but very similar, and the 6303i looks like the one! On the 6303i can I customise the nav button to perform shortcuts i.e left to text, right to select music player. Also looking at the 6303i there is no visible app button (the one you hold in to see whats running)
I am planning to purchase a Nokia 6700 slide for my mother, however, the seller has stated that it takes a long time to start up, anything between 5 minutes to an hour; and often varies. I am wondering what is casuing the problem with the device before purchasing, other than the start-up time, everything on the handset works perfectly fine (according to the seller).
Would reinstalling the operating system be of any solution? From what I know, there are no other faults for the device, and the boot up error occured totally randomly. This boot- up time is the only fault on the phone; and could be a problem, as my mother may be unable to charge the device at various points, where the phone would turn off due to low battery.
Or are there any other steps which I could take to ensure that this problem doesn't occur? Also, this is an old phone, therefore it is out of warranty.
I have never posted on anything like this before so please bear with me.I have a new 6700 slide, but there are 2 things I can't get used to, having had a Samsung phone before.
1. (The worst thing) - if a text comes in, and I don't happen to hear the buzzy tone thing, then I don't get another reminder, and there is no visible sign on the phone that there is a new message unless I open the slide. Even then it doesn't tell me who the message is from and I have to go to the inbox. Is there a way of getting more than one alert? I really don't like this.
2. Every time I turn the phone on it asks me to set up my email preferences. I don't want to use it for email but even if I cancel it, it asks me again next time I turn it on. Can I stop it asking once and for all?
3. Is there a way of marking text messages for deletion, without having to mark just one (very time consuming) or all (which you might not want to do)?
I would be really grateful for any help on one or all of these questions. I really wanted a Nokia but now I am pining for my Samsung.
I just bought a 6700 but I can't send text messages. When I send something, it sends as normal but the receiver does not receive. I can receive texts as normal though.
I was given a brand new Nokia 6700 slide as a Christmas present - my son wanted to bring me into the 21st century! I have learned that I should recharge it nightly, but I find if I make even one or two calls, as opposed to simply texting, the battery runs out before the end of the day. Is this normal for a new battery ?

I just got caught in a heavy rain and came home as if I went for a swim in my clothes. I noticed that my nokia 6700 slide has taken in a few drops in my pants pocket, and I'm having trouble with the call quality. It has become barely hearable, very silent. Although no complaints from the other side of the call. How do I fix it?
Basically, I can't change my messaging centre name or number, can't delete it, can't change it, can't make a new messaging centre "profile". I have: Restored the factory settings.Contacted my network. When contacting my network (o2), I was told to try resetting the factory settings and if this didn't work, try the sim card in a different (unlocked) phone to see if I could send text messages. After trying it in my old phone I found I could send messages, so I called my network back and was told to contact Nokia. When trying to change the messaging centre (Even with NO sim card in the phone) I get the following error message: "Unable to change setting. Value read from SIM card".

When making or receiving a call I cannot be heard although I can hear the other person. Is this a problem that is fixable or a sign that it's time for a new phone?
I bought an unbranded 6700 classic on amazon and I tried to disable internet access completely. So in the first place, there is no option to disable packet data or internet access at all. I can only choose between on demand and always online. I tried to make new hoax profiles with made up usernames and passwords for those data links and access points and set them as defaults but this phone always just connects to the internet by edge after all.
I also can't just delete my provider's access points which seem to be sitting on the sim card or however that works. On sony ericsson devices there is at least some kind of workaround which works by setting the access points to ask for a password before they actually connect but in this phone there doesn't seem to be any option to protect myself to go online by accident.
I have a 6700 slide, and I have problems with the memory. The phone says the memory is full, even though I removed all the files I can, and cleared the cache in the internet browser. When i remove things the amount of memory doesn't change at all. Now I can't take photos, and I can't put any music in my phone at all, it's very frustrating!
I read that it could be a good idea to hard reset the phone to free up memory. But then I'll need to do a backup on my data, but how do I do that? It's basically the contacts i need to backup, since I sort of removed all the other files.... I'm using a Mac, so I can't use the PC suite program.
New member frustrated with paucity of help from user manual. Anyone familiar with the above message - occurs when I touch "contacts " on the screen. It may have resulted from copying contacts from sim to phone, ot vice versa, but cant recall.
I've just bought the 6760 slide unlocked from Vodafone. I want to use my 3 mobile sim. It's good to make calls, sms etc but won't allow me to access the internet or send mms. So I'd obviously need to change the settings but I have no idea how to do this.
I am using the nokia 6700 classic and when I select "recently used" to populate the To: field of a text message I get the same 4 contacts every time. It seems to have stopped updating at some point, because even if I select new recipients from my contacts they do not get added to the "recently used" list. This is sort of a annoying, so I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or found a solution. I would rather not do a factory reset of the phone if I don't have to.
i had copied my 6300's contacts to PC suite. Now, i have a 6700 and i would like to restore all those contacts to this new phone. On my pc, under "PC SUITE" directory, i still have a directory with the serial number as the name of the directory. When i start the new version of PC SUITE, i could not find my old contacts.
I've just bought a Nokia Lumia 800 and I'm trying to transfer my address from my old Nokia 6700 classic to my new phone. When I use the Phone Switch option on my 6700, it says that the service is not supported by the new device. I've tried exporting the contacts on my PC from my 6700 using Nokia Suite, but for some reason the exported .vcf files only include the contact names and not the numbers.
I am trying to recover the contact details from my son's 6700 classic, whilst being unable to see anything on the phone screen. I would like to connect the phone to Nokia PC suite and select the backup option to copy all the contact details to my PC. Unfortunately he has damaged the screen and nothing at all is showing.
What I would like to know therefore is exactly which buttons need to be pressed on the phone after the USB connector has been inserted to ensure that PC suite is selected; because at present although the phone is recognised by my PC, PC suite is reporting that a phone is not connected. I have successfully copied all Images etc from the phone (memory card?) but the only way I know to get at the contact data is via PC suite, unless of course anyone knows differently.
History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i Current: Nokia N82 (with Access to a 5800XM)
My Nokia 6700 Classic Screen is broken and I need to copy the contacts from phone to sim. The phone still works. I just cant see what I am doing. Tried the Nokia computer program but I had issues with the USB cable.
I would like to copy all my contacts from my phone on to a computer so that I can open them on outlook and excel.
I have the USB cable, I also have the latest Nokia PC Suite Software. However, when It tries and copies the contacts it states refreshing of contacts failed?

I have many contacts which have numbers saved under the same label. For example a contact like this:
First name: AMobile: 11Mobile: 22Telephone: 33Telephone: 44 When I open Ovi Suite / Contacts / Contacts in E51 and open the abovementioned contact "A" it shows:
AMobile: 11Telephone: 44Mobile (other): 22As you see it deleted one of "Telephone" labeled numbers. It also happened when I used PC suite.
It is really annoying as if I save/sync the contact using Ovi, it causes loss of contacts data.BTW there is no problem using Backup/Restore function of Ovi/PC suite, nor "Copy to memory card" function of the phone itself.
Ovi suit version : 2.1.1.1
Nokia E51 v300.34.56
Windows 7
tested another one with 6 different numbers under the same "Mobile" label the result in Ovi is:
AAMobile: 11Mobile (main): 33Mobile (other): 22the other 3 numbers were lost
I have the E90 communicator hooked up to pc with pc suite and ovi.I have almost 2000 contacts and most of them have multiple numbers saved under the same name. These numbers have often the same type (mobile or telephone for example)When exporting these contacts using PC suite i'm loosing some numbers from contacts which have several numbers with the same type.
Further more i've the problem that the exported vCard can only store 6 number (3 private mobile, telephone and fax and 3 business) in its property, while i'm having contacts with over 10 numbers. Is it possible to export a contact having 10 numbers without losing one of them?
