N97 Mini vs E72..Not sure if i should post this question just here or post it both here and in the E series sub forum, i'll post it in both just in case....
N97 Mini Pros
Touch Screen
Bigger Screen
Fold out keypad
30fps Video (VGA) quality
5mp Carl Zies lens
Dual Flash (flash for video and flash for photos)
E72 Pros
600mhz cpu
Mega 3G (Next G access)
Symbian 3rd (More apps available eg coreplayer)
Bigger Battery/Longer life.
Now I have the E72, but i've been trying to talk my wife into having the N97 mini, but she says why don't I have the N87 and she can have my E72, well for me, it's literally a coin toss, they both have features i Like, both have the mandatory 5mp camera, both have wifi, compass, gps all the high end features... but the N97 mini offers a nice big keyboard where as the E72 does not but the E72 offers extra frequencies which work with high speed on other networks. So for me it comes down to build quality and i can't fault the E72, in all honesty if I had of just bought an N97 mini (instead ot the E72 just 1 week ago) i'd probably wish to keep the N97 mini.So i have an E72 1 week old,, and my wife's contract ends in only a couple of months, so now were looking at an upgrade for her.have no idea which i prefer, anyone got both or played with both the E72 and the N97 mini, what's your advice? I can't really fault the E72, im scared the N97 mini will break in 10 minutes.
Is there any program for Mac and Nokia N97 mini to handle and send sms and such on screen, as can be done with PC Suite on PC? I tried Fonelink but it doe not wotk with N97.
When i try to locate my position I always go to problems. This is how I'm doing it so you correct me if I'm wrong.
Applications->location->GPS data->an it says: serching for GPS devices-> calculating GPS data-> and after 30 seconds it said that GPS works poorly indors and closed spaces.
This prosess its been done always and I belive that is why I cant use navigatin option on downloaded maps.
I have just noticed the new nokia maps thing on the front page and was just wondering if the drive navigation was a trial. And if it ever connects to the internet without warning as I am not on a umlimted data plan.

Anyone else having issues getting the N97 mini to charge from their car, I bought the DC-6 as it's listed as compatible but nothing happens when I plug it in - I've tested this with the engine both running and not turned on. The car socket is working, tested with another device. Also just as an extra design point - it would have been nice for Nokia to put an LED on the charger to let you know when power was getting to the device.
I was able to use the WiFi on my new N97 mini and now suddenly it stopped working. It is still working fine on my N95.N97 Mini gives error saying "Invalid server name".What to do?
I have Nokia n97 mini and I tried to connect it with my home wireless router ( Linksys G-access Point ) it connected but when I try to start browsing it says ( Invailed Server Name ) , I thought the problem was in my router but my sister's phone ( Nokia E66 ) works fine with my wireless router so I asked my self maybe the prob was from my phone so I tried my phone in my friend's house and it worked fine with his DSL modem .......
whenever i try to connect to a wifi source outside mky house the phone will find a connection says i can conecct and as soon as i press web browing it will try connecting to my house modam, so i cant connect to the internet.
im facing problems with my n97mini since last weekend when i try to track my position using GPS ou even walk/drive. the ovi maps 3.04 keep saying "waiting for GPS".
dont know that is my problem or the app or the satelite. im in Maputo,Mozambique near South Africa. i've tryied hard reset, format mass memory and reinstal the ovi maps 3.04. no changes. i have another cell nokia n82 using maps v3.03 and no probs found, its working fine!
I was about to purchase a N97 Mini, however the retailer I was going to buy it from offered it to me in White or Pink. According to the official Nokia website, the N97 Mini is only available in Garnet (the coffee brown colour) and Cherry Black.
Are there more than these two colours avilable? I do not want to purchase an illegal product!
plan to upgrade my e71.. including screen size since I do a lot of web surfing... how usable is the Opera Mobile 10 and Skyfire 1.5 in the n97 mini? I also play flash games and watch movies.. is why I need a bigger screen.. had the e72 came out with 3.5 or 3.2 inch screen.
I bought an unlocked n97 mini but stupid me bought it from optus as telstra was sold out. So i can make calls etc just fine but I can't seem to use the internet/maps etc as it's trying to go through Optus Zoo. How do i reflash/set the phone so it'll use the correct internet network?
I just bought N97 Mini from Newegg. The strange thing is it gets hot very quickly(usually in 5 minutes) when in use, making me uncomfortable to use any of its functions for too long. I wonder if it is normal for a smartphone to get hot so fast? Is it battery's problem?
Having recently upgraded to the latest fw version I have found in about 5 instances that during the past 2 weeks my phone has powered itself off. This is probably a new bug! At least I didn't find any previous references to such a behavour on this board. In my case the battery was well charged. Today I had just taken it off the charger, read my e-mail and browsed the webb with Opera for the morning news. Then I put it in my pocket only to find it powered off an hour later.
My brand new N97 Mini RM-553 that I ordered from Amazon (sold by Nokia), straight out of the box makes very bad pictures with kinda stripes. Here's an example:
URL... I had the same problem 3 years ago with my SE w800i and I just had to update my phone to solve the problem. I've tried to do the same with N97 Mini, but Nokia Software Updater says, that there is no new update for my phone. My Firmware is 10.2.020.It doesn't matter if i use flash or not. The lines are on the screen when I'm trying to take a photo, not just after i take a photo. Same thing is when I switch it to video mode to record videos. Also there are much more lines when I'm trying to make a photo of TV that is turned on. I have also N95-4 (8GB) and there is no problem when I want to take a picture of the same TV. I bet it's just a software problem, but I can't update my phone, because of my ProductCode.
What can I do to fix this? I am very disappointed and if there is no way to fix it, then I think I'm gonna return that phone and probably never buy anything from Nokia. $500 for High-End phone that straight out of box is not working properly is not what I expected from NOKIA.
I've just purchased (1/6/2010) one N97 mini (p.code: 0585089) with latest sw installed (v11.0.045) but I have discovered with my disappointment that it has lots of bugs still unsolved.
list of discovered problems:
Radio FM research: it gets stuck > solution: battery removal
Using FM radio: it gets stuck > battery removal necessary
Bluetooth headphone usage, device has been suddenly disconnected any tempted actions to reconnect the device were unsuccessfull > switch off, switch on the N97mini worked.
Bluetooth headphone volume is low
Playing music: N97 gets stuck > battery removal necessary
1. Take the contact list, Search someone & make a Voice call with any one of his / her numbers, hang the line, quit the contact list. after some time the phone goes to sleep / restarts.
2. Take the call by swiping while the phone is locked. After the call is serviced the phone hangs indefinetly
The C: drive on my N97 contains quite some debris. And I want to clean it up. So I did a hard reset: LeftShift+Space+BkSpace+On . Yet this seems to leave the C drive untouched. For instance, MfE log files are still there and I did not install MfE yet.
I need to use a headset with my N97 mini as I do a lot of driving so I purchased a Bluetrek headset. I paired the device and everything was ok, the headset icon was on on the phone. However when I make a call, the sound still comes through the handset rather than the headset. I then got a friend to ring me and I answered via the headset, however the sound still came through the handset. I thought it might be a faulty headset so I tried the standard wired headset you get with the phone, this did the same. The sound was still coming through the handset.
When I connect my phone via the PC's USB, it is instantly recognised and starts charging. When I try this from the USB port in my car, it does not charge.I have tried two genuine Nokia USB data cables and two separate in car USB chargers but with the same result i.e. no in car charging. The in car USB chargers both work fine with the Garmin Nuvi.
It's a USB cable so why doesn't it work? Can anyone throw any light on this please?
i got n97 mini. i had some probs with it so i started saving apps from ovi on my memory card and my msgs on the mass memory so if my n97 need to be reset i wont lose too much data.
now i got two probs,
1. i installed couple of programs from ovi, and they worked for a while and now when i click on them it doesnt do anything, i tried to uninstall them but they dont apear on my installion apps, so i tried to download again from ovi but it doesnt let me download what i already downloaded , i even formatted my memory card , now all the apps icons removed but still i cant download from ovi.
2. the msgs on the mass memory works but once in a while when i receive or send an sms i get an error msg which tells me that now it will use the phone memory, andi need to go to settings again and chage it to mass memory and the msg i had just sent is saved on the phone memory and not on the mass memory.
We hope you enjoy your new device as much as your old one. To help, you will continue to receive free tips and support messages for your device. If you no longer wish to receive tips to your device, select the My Nokia icon on your device and select 'Unsubscribe'."
Apart from the fact that I incidentally and but quite convincingly do NOT enjoy my new device as much as my old one I also don't understand where this message is coming from. Do I have to unsubscribe from some sort of service to start using the Nokia Flagship N97 Mini?
I've got a norwegian N97 Mini, and I still have not got the newest update for it, v. 11.0.0.45. When will it come to my phone. whenever i try the nokia software updater, it just says i have the newest, one (10 something). It's been several days, why haven't i got it yet?
Recenty purchased an N97 mini -- great versatile little phone. Downloaded the free Joikuspot application that turns it into an Internet Access point (serving WiFi.) If I then try to make/answer a phone call at the same time, it reboots itself. Is this normal? Is the power supply not up to it? Or is it faulty? Happened twice so far.
Which one should i get? I know first has bigger space and screen and second is better build. But i really can't decide. Is second better in other ways as well? And do all n97 have wifi?
Just got an N97mini today and Im trying to go on Facebook through Wi-fi. BUT, it keeps saying it's connecting via contract WAP, and obviously its failing. How do I go about connecting it with wifi and getting rid of contract WAP?
I just got a new n97 mini and ive got several things fixed and working up by myself ecept for the videos... for some reason i think my cellphone hates on that because i can't do anything to watch good vids from my computer into my cellphone. I've tried things like connecting to PC in mass storage mode and just copy + paste the file into e: videos but the phone won't recognize them or will attempt to recognize them as music file; then i used the Nokia ovi suite but it lags my comp very bad and always (only) crashes when i go to anything related to videos like going to Photos/videos -> show all and when it goes to certain video the program then crashes or i go to videos and crashes instantly; after that i tried using the Nokia PC suite and I've managed to get videos into the cellphone but ALL of them stop playing the video at certain point, some play the first 10 sec of video and then the video freezes and only sound keeps playing, other play halfway video and then freezes and only sounds continues... i think I've tried as much as i can but videos wont play... what to do with this or something new to do because i prefer watching videos than listening to music
