Nokia :: E71 / RM 357 Firmware / Upgrading To 410.21.010
May 3, 2010
I've got a Nokia E71-2 RM-357 and the current firmware is 200.21.118. After checking online with the product code what firmware I am eligeble for, apparently that is the latest one, however I am seeing a LOT of people enjoying 410.21.010.Is it at all possible for me to upgrade to this version? Or something newer at least? I'm having some issues with my E71 turning off on its own and doing some very random things.
I recently upgraded the firmware of my Nokia E71 to the latest version i.e. 500-21-009. I followed the instructions in Nokia site and took complete backup before upgrading and restored entire stuff after upgrade. Now, though my settings are intact as it was before upgrade and my operator (Airtel) also confirmed that my GPRS subscription is active, I can not connect to Web nor can check my emails.
Whenever I attempt to browse, it gives an error message saying - 'Connection Not available'! In fact, I checked inserting my CIM card to another Nokia phone and could browse Internet with same GPRS settings as in E71.
Since upgrading to firmware40.0.005 (custom version 40.0.005.224.09) videos get stuck after a few minutes, even knowing the sound still plays.I have made some research and spotted people complaining of that issue after upgrading to that firmware but it was a few months back, and surely Nokia wouldn't have text me last week to let me know about a firmware update if the problems with it havent been resolved.Any help would be much appreciated as I am using my phone to watch video a lot as it normally does the trick to keep my hyper active toddler quiet while out and about.Even a firmware downgrade would be accpetable, the videos being so important to avoid the little one destroying places (it was a god sent in A&E)
After upgrading using PC Compantion (which was not an upgrade to Android 2.1) and restoring my backup I lost all my notes made with the notes application. Is there any way on retrieving back my valuble notes?
I am living in Toronto, Canada and bought the phone from a cellphone shop and paid the shopkeeper extra for unlocking the phone. Q-1.) Will my phone be locked again if i was to update it?Q-2.) How can i update my phones firmware to 2.3.4 without voiding warranty? or it is not possible?Q-3) Is there any way to know what is the unlock code that was used to unlock my phone so in case i update it and gets locked i can put the code myself without having to pay to have it unlocked?Phone Info:Model Number: GT-I9100MOS Version: 2.3.3Baseband Version: I9100MUGKG2Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2-CL371789dh130.yoo@SEP-48 #2Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
I like the LG VX8350 that I've had for the past 3 years and didn't want to use my qualification for free new phone with Verizon yet.. So when the hinge broke on mine recently, I bought a refurbished VX8350 in excellent condition. The only problem is the software version that's on the phone is 2.0 and the latest available version of the software is 4.0 which fixed several bugs on the phone and improved call and speakerphone clarity.I brought my replacement phone into Verizon today and they told me they no longer support the phone and no longer have the software upgrades for the VX8350.Is there any other means of burning my phone with latest firmware version the VX8350?
just as mentioned, i bought n97mini and tried to use its gps function in UK. it worked perfectly before i upgraded but after i downladed the nokia ma loader and upgrade map in my mibilephone, navagtion , my location, maps all could not find even 1 gps signal...i tried online with internet(WIFI)/ WAP , but nothing happened.
Just when I think the E75 cannot get any worse (it has slightly worse reception than 2 tin cans and a bit of wet string!!), Nokia send me a OS upgrade that will "result in improved performance"! Tragically, it continuously comes up with the great message "Installation failed due to lost connectivity; do not disconnect USB connection during installation"! Now, whilst I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, even I can see that disconnecting the cable would not be condusive to a successful software upgrade, so of course I am not doing that! I am about to wind the clock back over 10 years and resort to my trusty 6150.
My phone when checked through Menu--> Ctrl Panel --> Phone --> SW Update shows an available Phone Software update. However, the only installation available is Update via PC. However, when I check through Device Manager, it shows no available update for my phone.Anyways, when I try to update through the PC using either Ovi Suite or Nokia Software Update, it correctly downloads the update, but during installation gives an error "Connection to Phone Lost" and leads to the Phone recovery screen presenting a screen guiding me to remove battery, followed by disconnecting charger, and then USB, and reinserting the same in th reverse order, pressing the power button for 1 sec. and then Retry. Even on following the instructions, the phone is not updated, and the only option is to terminate the update.Any suggestions how I could get to update the Phone Over-the-air or rectify the problems being faced while updating through the PC.
I plugged in my phone to the computer via USB and clicked on upgrade. It started and I left for a coffee. Came back and my phone was dead and the computer said it was a old version of OVI (changed it yesterday, so it wasn't that old) and that I ought to upgrade it and try again. I can't start it now, it makes a buzz and then nothing more and it goes totally black again.I've tried to press 3 * answer button and the on/off button simultaneously without any luck. Sometimes it starts (with the screen turning greyish) but then nothing more and it shuts down totally again.
I am using the nokia 6700 classic and when I select "recently used" to populate the To: field of a text message I get the same 4 contacts every time. It seems to have stopped updating at some point, because even if I select new recipients from my contacts they do not get added to the "recently used" list. This is sort of a annoying, so I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or found a solution. I would rather not do a factory reset of the phone if I don't have to.
I have an N79 handset and I'm thinking of upgrading it to N86.The problem is that some people say that the nokia n86 sound is way low (I'm not sure about that) but I didn't reach a comparison between the N79 sound loudness and the N86 sound loudness. Can someone tell me which handset has a better sound quality and loudness? I need a really quick reply.
Hi Since upgrading to the V21 firmware on my N97, if the phone powers off for any reason, my RSS feeds default to not automatically updating. I have to go to each feed and reset the update schedule each time I run out of battery or change to my backup battery. Im using the built in RSS reader that you configure through the "Web" browser application. I am using this to display 3 feeds as widgets on the home screen. has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions.
the below programmes can be deleted after upgrading maps and ovi store? If so, why didn't that happen automatically?
Client Platform 260 KB Files on Ovi 226 KB Nokia Maps 7 MB Ovi Store 777 KB Ovi Store Client 441 KB Ovi Store Launcher 17 KB Share Location agent 2 MB Share Location 574 KB
I have recently upgraded my Nokia 5800 to 50. version and after that I encountered the following problem with the music player: unable to finish reading library and add mp3 files, and, also, the volume control not available on side buttons when playing music.
Have upgraded Nokia Music Player to Ovi Player. Seems to be installed fine. Click on SIgn in button and no login window appears. Can not see anywhere to enter login details.
Thought I's start ANOTHER thread on this topic as the other one a) had not official response, and b) slipped down the list.
Have now tried all different types of remedy for this fault Re-set at least a dozen times (pressing the power button for 15/20 secs) Factory re-set, then having to re-install all my apps
Still got a massive battery drain fault - Used to get 3 to 4 days out of it before Belle upgrade, now I'm lucky to get a day & a half and I switch the phone off at night when in bed.
What on earth is going on Nokia? Such as shame that a very good phone & platform is letting your long term customers down with such a severe battery drain.
Will be talking to vodafone later this week to get the phone looked at but I will expect the response that the phone will be sent away for testing and I will be without a phone for the duration.
Also, is it correct that by not updating to Belle can invalidate the warranty on the hand set?
I have a Bell Blackberry Bold 9700 and I just switch to Rogers! Would it be *better if I flash the rogers firmware on the phone, or leave it with the bell firmware? The rogers one is .351 and the bell one is .423 ...I guess I was wondering if the rogers would be better since i'm on the Rogers network
I upgraded my Nokia Lumia 1520 from windows 8.0 to windows 8.1 and I can not use the phone anymore because its permanently on flight mode and i can't connect to my mobile Network.
Ever since I have upgraded my Nokia N8's firmware to the new Anna firmware, I have been unable to sync my phone's content using the "Ovi Sync" application. I'm always getting this message "Service activation failed. Try again later". Has anyone else been having this problem? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
After I upgraded to Nokia Belle on my N8, my phone will stop receiving calls, messages, emails and can't even browse the internet. It behaves like I'm not connected my mobile network. I will have to switch the phone off and switch it back on to be able to receive calls again. Every other installed applications work so far they don't need to access the network. The strange thing is that, you won't notice anything. If you are someone that receives calls a lot, you'll just notice that you haven't received any calls or SMS or emails. This happens everyday, sometimes 3 times a day.
I have upgraded the firmware of my Nokia Asha 300 twice (first to v07.44, second to v07.49) via Nokia Suite and both upgrades went without errors. The problem is that none of the applications seem to have been upgraded. On my device, Nokia browser is still at version 1.0.2. Information on the internet says that 07.44 was supposed to give me browser v1.5 and 07.49 was supposed to give me 2.0. No other app seems to have been upgraded either. (Could someone tell me what versions numbers I'm supposed have with firmware v07.49?) In fact the only change I can detect is that the version number of the firmware now reads 07.49 in Settings -> Phone -> etc.. Also Nokia Suite says that my phone is up to date. It seems two firmware upgrades have been failures and Nokia Suite does not even realize it.
After upgrading my 5800XM to v40 and upgrading to the latest PC suite and software updater versions on my PC, my phone no longer connects with the computer with the error message "cannot authenticate phone" with bluetooth. If I try USB connection, the OS crashes while trying to install phone software (windows 7 pro, Dell Inspiron 6400). I have uninstalled and re-installed all nokia software on the PC and still got the same results. Even without PC suite, the phone does not connect through the PC bluetooth anymore.
Just noticed that the E72 has been updated to 22.007 (at least on my product code) on NSU. I haven't checked on FOTA. As usual there is no changelog (yet). Just going to update my phone.
I Ran a firmware update through nokia pc suite as I have done numerous times. Only time time my N97 is now screwed! Lost all the home page functions like apps and options and would default to the menu screen and whilst trying to connect back to PC Suite to try and re run it now has frozen in the "Nokia" Loading screen. Is there a manual way to reset the phone to factory setting?
Yesterday, I was rejoicing when I found out Nokia outed the N97's latest firmware. Among the enhancements was "improved music player." The moment I got home from work, I set out to update my N97 to 21.0.045. To my disappointment, I don't see what was improved from 20.x.x version. And to make things even more disappointing, gapless playback is still not a function I can turn on.SERIOUSLY!It is 2010. Can we get gapless music playback functionality in the music player? Or is live music something Finnish people don't listen to? I cannot imagine that I'm the only person in the world who thinks this is an important function in a music player. Am I?!? The N91 didn't have it. Fine. It was the first major multimedia phone from Nokia. The N95 didn't have it. What? Okay, maybe they're still working on it. The 5800 XpressMusic didn't have it. Wait. A marketed music phone doesn't have this basic feature which exists on pretty much decade old **bleep** mp3 players? The N97 still doesn't have it. Seriosly. Somebody? Do Nokia engineers not listen to music at all? Nobody at Espoo listens to live music?
I've read that there is a firmware upgrade that would allow me to use the new Ovi maps with free driving directions and various other nice tweaks and so on to make the phone much more reliable. I'm locked in to 3 at the moment - and I could unlock from them for a £15 fee - but I don't know whether this will then allow me to upgrade the firmware to the latest verision?
A new firmware has been made available for the N97. I updated yesterdat & its 22.0.110 now. NO new features added. If you know whats new in this release, please reply or post a link for the changelog.
