If I'd like to use E52 as data modem, I suppose I can connect the PC to E52 over bluetooth (dial-up profile) and in this way to provide my PC with an Internet connection (over E52).But is that possible via much faster WLAN?
My Nokia X2-00 cannot work as Data modem by connecting the Handset with the PC using Bluetooth connection. But With USB cable connection it can work. What is the problem with bluetooth. All other features are ok with Bluetooth but the "connect to Internet" option disabled under tools menu while connecting with Blue tooth.
My PC has Windows 7 64-bit Pro, also has Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC). On Windows 7, I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.6, coming with Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.23.0. When I connect Nokia N95 as USB modem, I can download for a short period about 20 - 40 seconds. Download speed is approx 2.8 - 3 Mbps and 350 kbps for upload. After that data loading seems to be stopped. So I have to disconnect and re-dial again to make it work for another short period. Sometimes, when I changed COM port settings to toggle between use and not use FIFO buffer, it seemed to help prolong the connection a little longer. But finally it will stop anyway.
However on the same PC, in Windows XP Mode, I installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.22.0, I do not have any connection problem with USB modem (attached to XP). I can download / upload data with no issues. Slower data speed in XP mode (1.5-1.7 Mbps) seems to be normal anyway. It seems to me that the driver may have issue with data flow control and or error correction with Windows 7. I suspect that Nokia cable driver may not be fully compatible with Windows 7 yet. Is there anyone having the same issue with Windows 7?
when ever I try to upload or download data to the internet I'm asked to 'select connection:'.I'm only presented with 'search for WLAN' It did used to give me the option '3G' i'm sure....Going on the internet and Facebook etc is fine the 3G side is used . I guess this is just a setting but I can not find it.
When I connect other BB, I can see in the DM that there is a 6th icon called IP modem to connect as a wireless internet IP modem, but how come in my 9700 I can't do that?
When i try to use my N97 as a modem for my laptop i wont connect unless i make a backup first.I doesn't matter what data i do a backup off but i have to do it to make the phone connect to the internet.Wierd but that's the way it is.Any ideas what the problem might be?
I searched the posted messages, but I didn't find the same problem. I´m using my cellphone (Nokia E63) as a modem for my computer, connected with the Nokia CA-101 cable. The local company offers until 1Mb/sec download speed, but most of the time it comes with only 200b/sec. Sending is with 128Kb/sec, but the max download speed is 52Kb/sec. I think it´s somewhere in the drivers, but unfortunately I don´t know where. I was 3 times with the local phone company, but they cann´t (will not) help me. Anybody knows an answer?
I try to use my E52 as modem connected to my PC trrough bluetooth, but when I create a dial-ip on the PC ans "dial", I see nothing appearing on the E52 (no number), just like if the E52 was not dialing. After a minute, I get a message that the modem is out of order. I have also tried by cable connection, and I have the same issue.
connecting to pc vis modem mode. After, i install on touch accsees, phone switches to ovi mode and it doesnt connect my pc to intrnet via phone. Also i want to know is it possible to connect my pc to internet via x7-00 using wifi.
So I picked up my brand new X6 today, and it's a really great phone. However what I notice is that for certain apps like the ovi store or maps, I cannot choose a connection which it should go through, and it always connects through my operator's network instead of my WLAN which is in range...How can I change connection behavious for these (and other) applications? I already set my connection order to Wlan first and then the operator connection, which works fine for ebuddy to give an example...so what's wrong with the other stuff?
How do you use the GPS under your WLAN? I got the GPS working once.used it and it was fine. But ever since then I haven't been able to get it to work. I have set my connection to 'online' and the Network destination to 'Internet' (VF Au Internet). When i try to use it all it says in the top right hand corner is connecting, but never connects. Other times it says sign in and I attempt to but says there is 'no connection'.Sometimes when i change some of these options to test it it freezes on me and sometimes resets itself. What settings are wrong or what am I doing wrong?
I just got the phone and I want to connect to the internet via wifi. I tried to go on but it can't seem to find my wireless modem. Can someone please help me? I really want to download some apps for it!
I have problem for connecting N79 to PC I use OVI Suite version 2.2.0.245. when i connect PC to internet via OVI suite for first time , there isnt any problem and connects to internet and all webpages completely are loaded , but after a few minutes my browser doesnt work and doesnt load any page and shows " server not found". but the connection between the PC and mobile still exists. after that i disconnect the connection and reconnect but this time the connection doesnt establish and shows an error with the content of "PPP link". after that i go to "device manager" and disable the Nokia GSM Modem and then enable that. then i connect PC to internet via OVI Suite with no problem AGAIN!. there isnt any problem for loading page But AGAIN after some minutes the browser doesnt work ! recently I reinstalled windows XP, but still nothing changes!. even i use latest Nokia Connectivity cable driver version 7.1.31.0. my cellphone has RM-348
I've been using my 5800 for about six months but now I'm having trouble using the phone as a modem connected to my laptop via USB. I can get an internet through the handset on its own, but when I try to connect through PC Suite, i get a message saying 'Failed to establish a connection'.The modem service USED to work; first time, every time. The only thing I can think of is that it stopped working after I updated the phone software. Has anyone else encountered this & know of a fix? I'd prefer a quick solution before I start with backing everything up, factory resets etc.I'm using the latest phone software & PC Suite, Windows Vista & I'm on the Vodafone UK network. Like I said, it all USED to work perfectly.
How do I provide modem software/functionality to the users but NOT installing the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi.Our E series devices sync with MfE with Exchange. When I have enabled my WLAN and try to connect an internet based app or open my browser the WLAN isn't always the connection that the phone chooses to connect with. Is there anyway I can force this? Also, the WLAN connection randomly drops when I connect and back out to the home screen of the phone to open, say, my Facebook app on the shortcuts bar.
I just bought the E72, and to my surprise I am facing connectivity issue. The moment I try connecting to WLAN, it throws an error: 'server not found' when working on internet. Though I am able to connect through GPRS ( from the mobile operator). Can you please help me with this.
I just brought a used N96 and I am finding somethings to be really odd with it. When I connect via usb I have no option for PC suite, only mass storage, webcam and com. Wlan will NOT turn on and is spell "Waln" not "Wlan".
i have 2 annoying problems with my Nokia X6 16GB: Problem 1: I cannot browse the internet using a wireless LAN Connection (WLAN). i manage to connect to my wireless network at home but every time i want to go to a website i get the following error 'invalid server name'. i used the connection wizard to connect. i added my home network as 'access point' , nothing seems to work. i thought maybe it is a firmware problem. now the latest firmware release is 21.0.004 i still have 20.0.005. so i tried to update my firmware using the 'nokia software updater'. which brings me to my next problem: Problem 2: Nokia software updater says i have already the latest firmware while i read on the site of nokia the latest firmware for my phone is 21.0.004. how's that possible? since i can't get the new firmware using the 'nokia software update', does anyone know how i can? i do not want to use the software updater on my phone since i have a prepaid SIM card, and connecting to the internet would cost me a lot of money. I've read somewhere that the software was not available 'in each region'. i live in Belgium (small country in West Europe), can i check anywhere if the software is available 'in my region'?
Recently I've changed the WLAN key in my home network. My phone has stored the old WLAN key & can't connect anymore to the network. I can't find the proper setting to change the key and connect the phone to the network.
I'm still the delighted owner of an X6!In the first month of using my device I've used the internet via my own wlan and a nearby access point (BTFon) so that when I go on holiday I'll know how to check emails etc at no cost to me. I've just got my O2 bill and found that in fact I've been charged for using the wlan which is something of a surprise. It's really not a lot of money but when you expect no charge at all.Have I failed to set something correctly? I can't imagine that if I'm using my device over a wlan connection correctly that O2 would even be aware. My second point is to ask if I should be concerned about security whilst surfing with my X6. We all use security software on our pc's at home. What if anything should I do about security when using my X6?
When I'm home and connects to my wlan, I'm writing a 26digit key for the wlan. Is there any way to get the N8 to remember this key? I have to write it every time I want to use it at home.
I connect to internet and check my email via E72 and by WLAN connection. My problem is, it asks me several time about which WLAN you want to connect and also each time I want to connect to internet or check mt email it asks me about which WLAN you want to connect. How can I save my WLAN to prevent E72 to ask again about that?
