Nokia :: Screen Is Freezing On Boot Up
Feb 22, 2010When I connected my x6 via usb, the screen went blank and came back freezing on the boot-up screen (white screen with NOKIA in blue letters.) I couldn't switch off the phone with the power button so I removed the battery. When I switch on the phone now, it freezes on the boot-up screen and stays there. The only thing I can do is remove the battery.

Dec 17, 2012I just received a SIM-free Lumia 820 delivered from Germany.
When first switched on, it displays what I assume is a Vodaphone splash screen of some sort. This appears before the NOKIA logo (which in turn appears before the blue Windows Phone 8 splash screen).
My current phone (Lumia 800) came from Italy and the about page shows that the original carrier was WIND, but in everyday use, there is no visible consequence.
On the 820, there seems to be some kind of carrier branding embedded deep into the phone. On the 'Extras + info' page of settings, in the additional info block, it says Mobile Operator Name VOD-DE, which is presumably Vodaphone Germany.
I tried re-setting the phone completely, but this behaviour remains. Can I do anything to get rid of this pre-boot splash screen? It's not a really big deal, but this kind of stuff irritates me beyond reason.

Aug 21, 2011Yesterday was my first day trying to use my new E7 as my primary phone. I am having a major problem where the phone is stuck at the white nokia log boot screen and it keeps restarting.
In the days before, I updated from the original 13.x firmware to 14.002 though the ovi suite. After about an hour of usage yesterday, I opened the on phone ovi store application and it said an update was required before I could use it, so I let it update OTA. After the update, I opened the application and tried to get Angry Birds Free. The download started, then I pressed an in app button to do something else in the mean time and the phone froze up during the screen transition. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Back into the ovi store to continue the download, this time the phone restarted on its own halfway through the download. Back into the ovi store a 3rd time to continue the download, phone froze up. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Wouldn't get past the boot screen.
Yesterday I was able to get the phone to connect to my computer and I attempted to reinstall 14.002 firmware 2x, which seemed to work but I was still stuck. I was able to call Nokia Customer Care and the support person tried some of the same things I did. Then without a sim card in the device we connected to my computer, tried to reinstall firmware, it complained about no sim card. I put an old non-working sim in the device and the home screen came up all of a sudden. So it appeared to be fixed.
I'm back to the same issue today, only now my computer won't connect to the phone. I've tried 10 times. Once it connected but only as a storage drive, not to Ovi Suite.

Feb 4, 2016My Nokia Lumia 1520 fell and the screen glass broke. However the screen was working fine. I ordered a new screen replacement and replaced the screen only to find out that the touch was not working in the new screen assembly so i will return it back.
I put the old screen back again and now i get white tv noise on booting and then the screen goes dark and stays that way. I can hear the sounds from the phone and it does seem like it functions properly but i can't see anything.
I tried soft and hard reset with no luck. What might be the cause for the white noise and dark screen? Could it be a display connector fault on the motherboard?

Feb 8, 2010I've been able to set a streaming solution through VLC to my nokia device and can stream netTV, movies, DVD discs, webcam from my personal PC. Through the tests, i've found that the maximum resolution is width=352, height=288 which is 11:9 aspect ratio. Of course i can set 16:9 ratio which again has the limitation of the width=352. Every pixel above 352 makes the nokia response in "Unable to play video clip".So obviously there is some limitation in the resolutions through live streams. When i play a video from the Memory Card, 640*360 is supported without a problem.The problem is, that i have access to several streams , which are live TVs and i can watch only those, that are below 352 pixels wide. Those that are in resolution 448*336 don't play, although the format and the codecs of the stream are the same as with the 352*288.So, is there a way , that i can remove these limitations, or at least allow the Real Player to play streaming links with higher than 352 pxls width?

What baffles me - in the manual I can't find how to change the start-up screen (Nokia) or better, how to block it. This was possible with my old one, but with this one?
To make matters even more complex.it used to be a T-Mobile model (I'm no T-Mobile subscriber) and the menu differs even from the (very short) manual.
Nokia E75 :: Video Mode Screen Went Blank - Unexpected Error?
Apr 23, 2010I got my Nokia E75 for about 4 months now. Had no problems with both the camera's or the video camera. I've deleted some videos and now, all of a sudden, as soon as I want to use the camera it opens on video mode, the screen went blank and give the message; "Unexpected error occurred. Power off the device and restart". I did that a few times, but the problem persists. I also went so far to take the phone back to the original factory settings, but to no avail. The next step was to download the firmware from the internet. After that, the camera worked and could take pictures, but as soon as I switched over to video camera. It is the same problem all over again. Can you please help me to rectify this problem?

Nokia Nseries :: Unable To Change Wallpapers From Home Screen
Feb 11, 2012I just got Belle on my N8 and I can't figure it out at all. I know it has to do with "hidden folders" on my E: drive (Not F in this case) I don't know where they could be or should be at this point). It also take a while for any previews to display.
I got 2 missing links that show up when I try to select a wallpaper (from the homescreen). At first I had none then 1 now 2. If I search for pictures from the gallery they don't show up at all (because they're hidden). If I could somehow soruce where they are I could remove them on my own.
I wish (how it was on Anna) that files in the wallpaper folder were the only one that could be found when changing wallpapers from the homescreen. Changing them from the galley doesn't work properly like it does from the homescreen (WTfail). How did I get into this mess? FaceContacts (Hidding that folder) and Trucaller (Hidding that folders cache) photos. I hide them so that they don't appear when selecting in Nokia Sleep Screen and changing wallpapers. I've deleted FaceContacts and removed those folders for now. I left TruCaller because I never saw those images appear so it wasn't the issue.
When I turn off & on my phone I can select a wallpaper again :/ At least the phone isn't slow

In video mode, tap the gear icon and change the FPS to 120. It is only available in certain aspect ratios (it works in 16:9 HD). Record your video and watch it in the stock Gallery app for slow mo. You can adjust the slow-mo speed while viewing. I couldn't get the slo-mo to work in Google Photos.
There may be other ways to do this but this is how made it work.

Jun 7, 2010I got my EVO on Saturday morning and have found something quite annoying... twice now, my phone has gotten stuck on the boot screen and started looping.The first re-start was prompted by a software update. The second, I decided to use the battery up completely and started after charging the battery overnight. Feb 20, 2010I bought a Nokia 5230 in Jan this year. There was no issue for the first few days... Then suddenly it started restarting . Radomly. First when I enabled bluetooth. Then later on it would restart when I changed a setting like Home Screen Shortcuts or Personalised the General Profile ... etc. I am using a SanDisk MicroSD 4 GB card brand new clean formatted. I have only put in music from NokiaMusic and OVI store apps. It has nothing to do with software installed. There is some really wierd problem.
..So , I went to the Nokia Care store countless times, and they re-installed and updated the phone software and gave it to me.. still the same problem.. SO then they sent it to the Delhi Head Office and I got a replacement 5230 !!! And guess what still the same problem !!! Random restarts. I feel there is some issue with the phone software or firmware or there is some issue with the phone accessing its memory card , I dont know. I have the latest firmware update for this phone V12.0.089

Sep 14, 2014Is it possible to change the compression used to record videos, or install a different codec for that matter ? IMO the video recording is equal to that of devices that are geared for video recording, but the right configuration would open up the video recording possibilities and with 4K video recording on the horizon which as far as I know, no other smart phone will have the only thing needed is storage space !
