Nokia :: Can I Install And Activate License Offline?
Jun 18, 2010
I have a phone that does not have WiFi, my network plan does not include Internet. I'm able to download applications, however, I can't activate it if I'm offline. So I used a different a friends SIM with Internet to activate the application. Now when I transfer my SIM card in the phone, it asks to transfer the license of the application. This needs Internet access again. What can I do? Anyway I can do this offline?
As there appear to be some UK 5800 owners with this problem. How about - for those people that have phones locked on a providers software/firmware and the map license has expired (like me on 3 in the UK at 30.0.011) that Nokia give us a free license for the current version?
After downloading the latest software from iTunes, my phone is stuck during the activation process. I choose English, United States, then if I choose the Wi-Fi option it pauses like it's trying to activate but then errors out. If I choose connect to iTunes option, it just has the iTunes logo with a usb picture but doesn't recognize that I have plugged it in.
Meanwhile, in iTunes, it shows theres a phone connected but it says "There is no sim card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please disconnect and insert a Sim card in the phone." It says this regardless of if there is or is not a sim card installed. I know the sim card is good cuz I am also using it in another phone for now to have service.
When I run the diagnostics, it says that one sync test fails. I followed all of the steps it suggests with no change. Also, my brother has iTunes installed on his computer and everything happens the same so it is probably a phone firmware/software issue.
I am using the new OVI Maps now. When I Start the navigation , after about 30sec it is showing the license expired and the navigation stops. I was using the Nokia Maps earlier. How can I get rid of this old license info from my phone.
I am thinking of buying a Nokia E72 and the GPS function is what I need most. Does one need to buy a GPS license for it to function. If a license is required, does it expire and if so, after how long?
I've just got a Nokia X6 which I'm under the impression comes with free maps and navigation? However, when I try to plan a driving route, I'm prompted to activate a 10-day license of navigation before it will work - is navigation not free? The phone is using the latest firmware and Maps version is 3.03.
I have used Maps 2.0 last year on my N95 on vacation in Indonesia and bought a month license for spoken navigation. Needless to say this has expired, but can't be renwed (to my knowledge). This year I want to go to Indonesia again, but the online store (in my phone) only lists Europe (€ 2.99/month or € 9.99/year) now. Is there a way to obtain other regions for Maps 3.01? (I'm not counting on a free version for the N95 any time soon)
There is problem in my nokia n82 I after navigation become free i tried to udate it to ovi 3 and downloaded last maps however after while from navigation i informed to get liecence i do not know why? nokia say that navigation is free now why it ask for licence?
I know the free license for S60 3rd edition, Feature Pack 1 devices haven't come yet (except for E71 and E66). But nokia can give our poor old devices working on FP1 free navigation license for life time. As they used to provide free voice guided navigation for free for a week (or 7 days). So the same way they could provide our devices with free navigation for lifetime if they can't make new version of maps then. The OVI maps 3.0 works flawlessly in N82, N95. If nokia somehow decides to give the activation key for lifetime navigation then we all users would be very grateful.
So anybody who likes this post could support me and please give kudos to me. We can mail this post to nokia and if they listens poor chap's cry then we would also be among the ones using free navigation in our phones!
I have had problems with my phone for quite a while now, but last night I reset the phone and everythings fine now except for on thing! My music won't play because it took the licenses off! I have 173 songs so that's QUITE a lot.
I have firmware 20.0.019 and Maps v3.01 but i'm still being asked for a license code or to pay 14.99 for one years license. I've used the downloads maps feature in Nokia PC Suite to get the uk maps but i keep getting the warning about my license running out (runs out 22:01 05/02/10 uk time). Any ideas on how to get the free version of drive navigation?
Ovi software wants to renew license on my downloade music, but as my lisence is expired I can't do that. I understood thet I can use downloaded music after license expired. Sent several mails ro Nokia without answer...
I'm using a N97 with V 21.0.045 firmware. According to what advertised, I should have free lifetime navigation. Now it says that my license has expired.
I am glad to know that free navigation is given to all E series expect 63 & 71. Its bizzare, since its the most used phones. Is it possible to provide free navigation license for E63, which i am using.
Does anyone know how to get a free navigation licence for 6303 now that ovi maps are free? My phone has pre-installed nokia maps, but navigation is not free.
I've installed nokia maps with navigation option thru OVI in my nokia n85. Last week the navigation license has expired and when I try to use the navigation it stands that I have to BUY a new one. where is the "free navigation forever?"
I don't seem to get the free navigation activated for my N78. When ever I start the navigation, after a few seconds it gives message that your license has expired and you need to go to use shop to buy new one ! I did in the past have installed the free navigation licenses which were made available from Nokia. I am interested in getting this free navigation working on my N78. (I live in Mumbai-India) Best Regards, Neelesh I have installed new Nokia Maps from the site, also have Latest Map Loader 3.0.24.0 Nokia Maps About v3.01 09wk44 b01 MW OpenGL LM MN Map version 0.1.23.112 OpenBitLM 6.22.5 Details about my N78 Software Version : 21.002 Software Version Date: 10-03-09 Custom Version: 21.002.051.1 Custom Version Date: 18-02-09 Language Set : 013 Model : N78 Type: RM-235 Latest Update: 7/2/2010
with Nokia's recent apparently confirmation that free Ovi Maps weren't going to be hitting my N79, I purchased the City Explorer licence. This didn't go particularly well, with the device claiming that sending the premium text failed (it didn't) and that it would want to try again (what?) and me receiving only three £1.50 charges and 2 receipts before that, but at any rate I now have a working licence. However I was never prompted to choose to bind to SIM or device. Any idea which it would've gone with?
I am using nokia ovi player to download songs as I have gt the license to do so since i bought an X6 but now after i have restored my laptop i was told to redownload DRM by the ovi player. The problem is it does not want to download DRM as an error comes out that states it is not authorised to use the computer. Can anyhere here help me to solve this problem?
Does anyone know a way to delete the license info from the old maps installed by default on the N85. When i start a navigation it works fine for about 2 minutes and then flashes up the message about Navigation licesne has expired. Maps 3 navigation is free so there must be a file or series of files it is checking.
I have bought N97, and was using navigation but I am confused as it showed me that your navigation license is valid for 3 months, is it not free. As nokia web say that it is free 4 life.
I have paid €9.99 for the latest map for Nokia N95 8gb, Iactivated it, but after I reinstalled the software and used the key again, itis saying that the key is not valid! Do I have to buy it again, whenever I reinstall the software I have reinstalled Ovi Maps 2.0, 3.0 is not working on N95 8gb. I forgot to mention that i did hard reset on it using *#7370# to get rid of Ovi Maps 3.0 which was not working.
I have a Nokia 6600 Slide with the latest software (V6.55). I was successfully using Nokia Maps GPS navigation having purchased a license key for UK/Ireland in January 2011. I have an external bluetooth GPS device. Howver, the Maps license key has now expired (as expected, it was a 1-year licence). Without a license I cannot use the voice-guided navigation function. When I go throoug the phone menus to purchase a 1-year license again, I get to the menu that asks which payment method I wan to use (I select Visa). At this point the screen just refreshes, with no message or error code. I am not asked for payment card details. I cannot get past the "payment method" menu. This process worked just fine for me in Jan 2011 when I first purchased a license, and other web browing functions using the built-in web browser are just fine. I have tried refreshing the Nokia software (It was already at V6.55, which is the latest level).
We know that Maps are free on Nokia phones. But when I installed the Ovi maps on my Nokia e71, it says that my India navigation license has expired on 14-2-1009 and I have to renew it. Why would that be? How do I start using my free maps?
If GPS navigation is now free, why limit most of your existing customers by exclusively providing it to select models and just provide everybody with licenses? I can not imagine that it would be difficult to create a license key generator and post it on the nokia web site. Can this happen?
I recently installed ovi maps but when I try to use the navigation feature it tell me my license has expired. It's because there's an old trial license for walk and drive still on my phone. Is there a way to remove this license? I can't seem to find where to remove it anywhere
As Nokia seems to have changed the model for licensing, I can't be the first person to think of simply creating a free downloadable license with an expiration date in 2099 specifically for those of us running 3.01 on E* that aren't yet on the compatibility list. The app runs fine, but I don't get little voices because of the license renewal issue that I've not enjoyed (in the US) previously. Perhaps I'm underestimating the difficulty of doing that, or perhaps 3.01 doesn't know how to do date math beyond a year.
I'm a bit perplexed by this DRM situation. I downloaded an audiobook from my local library in .wma format. It is a DRM protected file. The file plays in Ovi Player without any problems. I transferred the file to my E71 and the file doesn't play. I get an error stating: "Unable to acquire license. Unknown content provider." What is strange about the situation is that I have used the above steps to transfer and listen to dozens of audiobooks from the same source without any problems. Now, I can't get any to work. I've tried several without any luck.I recently reinstalled Ovi Player on my computer and recently had my phone serviced by Nokia, which could have changed a setting somewhere. I'm not sure if that's the problem. When I open the file properties in Ovi Player, here is what Ovi Player says about the DRM protection:
DRM Protected: Yes Remaining Play Rights: -1 Remaining Burn Rights: -1 Remaining Transfer Rights: -1
To summarize, I used to be able to play DRM protected media from this same source with no problems. Sometimes I would get the above error and a reset of my network connection would fix the problem. Now, no luck with an easy fix. Is there a setting in Ovi Player that I'm missing? A setting on my E71 that I'm missing? Why did something that worked a month ago stop working?
I have a song that i downloaded from the Ovi music store and transfered it to my Nokia 5230. It stated that i did not have the correct license to listen to it and that i should try to get it over air. It then leads me onto the internet where i have to enter in my Ovi store username and password, i enter in the correct details but it tells me that i need to allow cookies to access the next page, the only problem is that i have already allowed cookies, why does it not recognize this?
