I know the free license for S60 3rd edition, Feature Pack 1 devices haven't come yet (except for E71 and E66). But nokia can give our poor old devices working on FP1 free navigation license for life time. As they used to provide free voice guided navigation for free for a week (or 7 days). So the same way they could provide our devices with free navigation for lifetime if they can't make new version of maps then. The OVI maps 3.0 works flawlessly in N82, N95. If nokia somehow decides to give the activation key for lifetime navigation then we all users would be very grateful.
So anybody who likes this post could support me and please give kudos to me. We can mail this post to nokia and if they listens poor chap's cry then we would also be among the ones using free navigation in our phones!
I just downloaded the newest Maps version from here: (http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download?intc=ncomsup...), installed it on my phone (Nokia N95 8GB, up to date firmware, up to date Ovi Suite and PC Suite). And when i selected the drive to option the software asked me to renew the license O.o. Isn't navigation supposed to be free? How can I take care of this problem?
Free Drive navigationFree Walk navigationFree maps and map updates" As it says on the website. I have updated my Nokia N97 to the latest firmware (2.0) and installted the map loader. I have downloaded the latest maps and installed them to the phone. Then when I try to "drive to" on the maps, it says "Your license expired on 15.11.2009" and wants me to purchase a subscription?
a) Am i doing something wrong? b) Are they actually free?
There is problem in my nokia n82 I after navigation become free i tried to udate it to ovi 3 and downloaded last maps however after while from navigation i informed to get liecence i do not know why? nokia say that navigation is free now why it ask for licence?
I'm using a N97 with V 21.0.045 firmware. According to what advertised, I should have free lifetime navigation. Now it says that my license has expired.
I am glad to know that free navigation is given to all E series expect 63 & 71. Its bizzare, since its the most used phones. Is it possible to provide free navigation license for E63, which i am using.
Does anyone know how to get a free navigation licence for 6303 now that ovi maps are free? My phone has pre-installed nokia maps, but navigation is not free.
I don't seem to get the free navigation activated for my N78. When ever I start the navigation, after a few seconds it gives message that your license has expired and you need to go to use shop to buy new one ! I did in the past have installed the free navigation licenses which were made available from Nokia. I am interested in getting this free navigation working on my N78. (I live in Mumbai-India) Best Regards, Neelesh I have installed new Nokia Maps from the site, also have Latest Map Loader 3.0.24.0 Nokia Maps About v3.01 09wk44 b01 MW OpenGL LM MN Map version 0.1.23.112 OpenBitLM 6.22.5 Details about my N78 Software Version : 21.002 Software Version Date: 10-03-09 Custom Version: 21.002.051.1 Custom Version Date: 18-02-09 Language Set : 013 Model : N78 Type: RM-235 Latest Update: 7/2/2010
If GPS navigation is now free, why limit most of your existing customers by exclusively providing it to select models and just provide everybody with licenses? I can not imagine that it would be difficult to create a license key generator and post it on the nokia web site. Can this happen?
As Nokia seems to have changed the model for licensing, I can't be the first person to think of simply creating a free downloadable license with an expiration date in 2099 specifically for those of us running 3.01 on E* that aren't yet on the compatibility list. The app runs fine, but I don't get little voices because of the license renewal issue that I've not enjoyed (in the US) previously. Perhaps I'm underestimating the difficulty of doing that, or perhaps 3.01 doesn't know how to do date math beyond a year.
I am using the new OVI Maps now. When I Start the navigation , after about 30sec it is showing the license expired and the navigation stops. I was using the Nokia Maps earlier. How can I get rid of this old license info from my phone.
I have used Maps 2.0 last year on my N95 on vacation in Indonesia and bought a month license for spoken navigation. Needless to say this has expired, but can't be renwed (to my knowledge). This year I want to go to Indonesia again, but the online store (in my phone) only lists Europe (€ 2.99/month or € 9.99/year) now. Is there a way to obtain other regions for Maps 3.01? (I'm not counting on a free version for the N95 any time soon)
I have firmware 20.0.019 and Maps v3.01 but i'm still being asked for a license code or to pay 14.99 for one years license. I've used the downloads maps feature in Nokia PC Suite to get the uk maps but i keep getting the warning about my license running out (runs out 22:01 05/02/10 uk time). Any ideas on how to get the free version of drive navigation?
I've installed nokia maps with navigation option thru OVI in my nokia n85. Last week the navigation license has expired and when I try to use the navigation it stands that I have to BUY a new one. where is the "free navigation forever?"
Does anyone know a way to delete the license info from the old maps installed by default on the N85. When i start a navigation it works fine for about 2 minutes and then flashes up the message about Navigation licesne has expired. Maps 3 navigation is free so there must be a file or series of files it is checking.
I have paid €9.99 for the latest map for Nokia N95 8gb, Iactivated it, but after I reinstalled the software and used the key again, itis saying that the key is not valid! Do I have to buy it again, whenever I reinstall the software I have reinstalled Ovi Maps 2.0, 3.0 is not working on N95 8gb. I forgot to mention that i did hard reset on it using *#7370# to get rid of Ovi Maps 3.0 which was not working.
We know that Maps are free on Nokia phones. But when I installed the Ovi maps on my Nokia e71, it says that my India navigation license has expired on 14-2-1009 and I have to renew it. Why would that be? How do I start using my free maps?
I've got German T-Mobile N97. I've been trying to "unlock" Maps on it ever since I saw that "Maps are free" ad. I've survived a couple of updates since than but nothing seams to happen. I keep getting "Your Europe navigation license has expired on X.X.X. Buy new license to continue suing navigation?" If I say Yes, I get prompted to pay fee for a month or a year. If I say No, voice guidance closes. Any idea why is this so and what can I do to get voice guidance working? Both Ovi Suite and N97 seam to be up to date: 2.2.0.245/21.0.045.
Have downloaded FOC maps from Nokia website to Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic but keeps saying European licence has expired. Why do I need a licence when FOC and if need one how do I get one and still FREE?
I have a Nokia 6600 Slide with the latest software (V6.55). I was successfully using Nokia Maps GPS navigation having purchased a license key for UK/Ireland in January 2011. I have an external bluetooth GPS device. Howver, the Maps license key has now expired (as expected, it was a 1-year licence). Without a license I cannot use the voice-guided navigation function. When I go throoug the phone menus to purchase a 1-year license again, I get to the menu that asks which payment method I wan to use (I select Visa). At this point the screen just refreshes, with no message or error code. I am not asked for payment card details. I cannot get past the "payment method" menu.
This process worked just fine for me in Jan 2011 when I first purchased a license, and other web browing functions using the built-in web browser are just fine. I have tried refreshing the Nokia software (It was already at V6.55, which is the latest level).
As there appear to be some UK 5800 owners with this problem. How about - for those people that have phones locked on a providers software/firmware and the map license has expired (like me on 3 in the UK at 30.0.011) that Nokia give us a free license for the current version?
Just upgraded the software version of my Nokia N85 (RM-333) to version : 31.00.2 Then installed the Nokia map loader, selected the countries and languages i was interrested in and waited for about 20 minutes for everything to be installed, though never got any message on my actual phone which was still connected via USB.
Downloads are complete, so i try nokia maps on my phone (which i used during the free trial when i got the phone) but it still wants me to buy the maps? So guess it's not free yet then for the N85, so that was a morning well wasted trying to sort all this out.
Today I read about the new Ovi Maps being available with Free voice guidance, etc. Why is not being made available on the N97 till the end of the month. Yet again, Nokia's flagship phone missed out and we all have to wait. Everything about this phone is one big long wait. We have to wait for software, updates - when will Nokia get this correct. Why is it availbale on the N97 mini and not the N97?
I don't have an internet nor data plan, and was using my Ovi maps GPS, which I thought was free, and was later charged for 'internet data packet usage'. So now I'm not sure what is meant by 'free gps' ?
I was really disapointed that E90 wasn't on supported models list. When this free feature will be available also for Nokia e90 communicator? Or will it be ever?
I just installed the new and free ovi maps on my nokia 5800 but after a few seconds while navigating it keeps telling me that my licence has expired. Why is this? Does this mean that ovi maps isn't free after all? I used to have this free trial licence a year ago, and i am prompted to renew this licence.
This is the first time to be here. Just want to know if my Nokia 6220 Classic is one of the free OVI maps as mentioned here: http://maps.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps And if not is there is any possibility to be free?
Nokia OVI Maps - Free Navigation Mobile navigation for everyone, the Ovi Maps takes you where you want to be and shows you what you want see, with navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. All this with only one click. And it's all free. - Free Drive navigation - Free Walk navigation - Free maps and map updates - Free Events guides - Free Lonely Planet guides - Free Michelin guides You thought Garmin and TomTom were in trouble when Google announced its free Navigation service? Wait until investors hear Nokia's news.Reuters is reporting that Nokia will offer free navigation on its smartphones. However, instead of just the US (the current Google limitation sans hacking), Nokia will be demonstrating its reach by offering free turn-by-turn directions in 74 countries and 46 languages - a move that should cover 20 million smartphones globally with Ovi Maps available in over 180 countries Update: The original San Francisco Chronicle report has been pulled but Google cache caught a bit more saying that Nokia's navigation service is "capable of operating completely offline" unlike Google Navigation which requires data connectivity. Update 2: Nokia just made the download link live. Hey, where's the N97 and N900. Update 3: And it's official. Starting today, Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation is free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the US), and safety camera and speed warnings while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. It all works offline too, which should extend battery life and keep that navigation humming even while puttering about in data dead zones without racking up international roaming charges (take that, Google). From March 2010, all new Nokia GPS enabled smartphones will come installed with the new Ovi Maps application and pre-loaded with local country map data and walk and drive navigation with access to location-aware Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides at no extra cost. Additional premium guides like a weather service and events / movies are also included. Just 10 devices from Nokia's massive catalog are available today a list that includes the N97 Mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 navigation edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 navigator, 6730 classic and X6.
