just wondering is it necessary to get a nokia brand car charger or any other brand would do? If other brands are ok, do I need to watch out for the voltage of the charger? What do I need to look out for and how?

I have a usb car charger with a cable that has a usb plug on one end, and on the other end there is a nokia 2.0mm charger plug. like this one: [URL] But the problem is that it's not fully charge my Nokia 5800, only about 85%-90%. Could this charger can fully charge a nokia 5800? on the charger itself it's written "DC 5V +- 5% Max= 1000mA"

Some people say that the Nokia DC-4 charger is compatible because it has a 2mm pin, but I don't think that it's so simple. Furthermore, the DC-4 page on Nokia site has a compatibility list and Nokia 701 is not there and I can't find a car charger that clearly is compatible with the Nokia 701.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a CK-100 car kit and trying to find a replacement/upgrade charge cable (CA-134) with a USB micro B connector instead of the 2mm that is fitted. The user/installation guide mentions that an alternative USB cable may be supplied but all searches have failed to find one. The alternative is to make up a cable RJ45 at the CK end, I can buzz it out but does anyone have the pin out for the RJ45? I've tried the CA-146 adapter and to be honest it's naff - it runs hot and the output is reduced to the point that whilst running my satnav app the phone will discharge faster than it can be charged, I've also tried the adapter on a standard car charger with the same results.

But when I connect it to PB nothing happens, the screen lights up, but the battery is not charging. I think the problem is not because of not enough amps, it's more than original wall charger.But I have no idea what's the problem... Is it too much amps and PB, instead of using just what's needed, will just disconnect the charger at all?

View 7 Replies View Relatedi do not have an electrical engineering background and in fact know very little about amps, watts, etc. however to understand my power and charging needs for the playbook, i googled. anyone who knows this better feel to correct me.-the included outlet to micro-usb charger provides 1.8amps at 5volts.-the typical pc to micro-usb cable provides around 0.5amps at 5volts.-the typical power usage of a playbook while active and running is 2-3 watts (which is about 0.5amps to 0.75amps at around 4 volts (depending on battery state).So if the above is true, the pc to micro-usb charger will pretty much cover the usage amps or maybe even less but wont actually increase the amount of stored energy (breaks even).The included charger will provide about 1amp of juice to store after subtracting the 0.5 to 0.75amps of usage.but what is the maximum charger amps or voltage which can charge the playbook the fastest via outlet to micro-usb?is 5v the maximum and amps are the limiting factor? or can any amount of voltage and amps be used? i need it to be microusb not the magnetic post cable because my stand uses microusb. the reason i mention usage while active instead of standby mode is because i plan to run a night table clockapp which will draw 2watts but still want to charge the device quickly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a Nokia 808 from Singapora and tried using Joikuspot. Unfortunately for some reason it fails to start a connection. I've made sure that BOTH mobile data and wifi are on as well. When I start the program, it asks if I want to start a connection (to which I say yes), I choose AT&T Internet and wait. I can see the 3G internet icon start up, but the wifi icon (or transmitting icon) never appears and the message "Connection failed, Connection unavailable" appears up at the top.
I've tried reinstalling Joikuspot (well, I purchased the premium version actually), reinstalling the phone software (via Nokia Suite) and doing a factory reset with no success. Internet and other apps seem to work fine under 3G and wifi as well so I'm not sure what's going on.
Just bought a brand new nokia 603 as a gift to partner but almost cannot charging by adapter (charge by USB to laotop still OK). Very disappoint. The new guy is lying on Nokia care and be disassembled T_T. How can Nokia QC procedure passed a basic prolem?

I left the phone as usual on my computer table and when I woke up in the morning, the battery was dead and when I plugged in the charger, it started charging. Then after a few hours the phone shut off by itself and didn't turn on, no matter what I did (didn't even turn on when I plugged it into the charger) so I went to the Nokia store and bought a new battery ) exactly like my old one. I put it in but the phone didn't turn on. |I plugged the charger in but the phone still didn't turn on. I took out the memory card and SIM card and tried turning it on but it STILL didn't turn on -___-. I then took out the battery and lightly pushed the copper pins at the bottom (where part of the battery goes into) and then the phone turned on. I put on (or rather, taped back on ), the back cover and the phone turned off. I didn't turn off straight away but in a weird way. You know how, when you update the firmware, then it starts loading (loading bar) horizontally and then the phone screen turns white and some funky colored vertical lines appear? Well, that's what happened and how it turned off.

It looks fine, but when I have a white background such as when using the web browser it looks kind of smudged. It's not an issue of the phone actually being smudged, because I've cleaned it several times. The screen just looks kind of fuzzy and it's just not as clear as I had hoped. Is this just as good as it gets for screen quality on the 5800, or is it my phone?

I found that I had enabled search for WIFI and also enabled two of the settings for gps. After removing settings and changing display to lower brightness and not using internet it is better now. I took BSNL service in India for my vacation. They have 3g in very few places. I am not sure if the 3g or their SIM card is the culprit.
I want to buy car charger. I found Nokia dc-6 selling for Rs 950($20). Do I need to use only this? I called and found that Samsung one for Rs 250($6). Is it ok to use generic one or other brands?
What do I need to look for when I buy car charger for n900? I hope it works in USA also. Appreciate any help since I need to buy ASAP. I can exploit all features in my journeys since I am not driving here unlike in USA;-)
