Nokia :: 5230 Accelerometer Is Not Well Calibrated
Mar 27, 2010
i have a nokia 5230 and the accelerometer it`s not well calibrated, in games when in my hands it`s perfect orizontal, he is turning right, i have installed a program named levels, and there it`s show me ( when i`m keep it perfect orizontaly) that he is inclined to the right, how can i calibrate it, or what`s the problem?
Anyone having the same problem with their N8? After I downloaded some free apps and games (level meter, angle meter, need for speed shift) that use the phone's motion sensor, I noticed the sensor is off by a few degrees. Can this be re-calibrated in the phone (not in the app itself) or do I need to return it for repair?
It's not a question but I would like to suggest this game application called SymbiMaze that uses the acccelerometer feature of E52 and E72 and other new Nokia series phone

At least now we could confirm that the accelerometer is working as it should.Salvation entails eternal power which will make every tyrant weep.
I not sure when did it start but I just found out this morning it's not responding if I rotate my phone. I already checked the settings and it is enabled.
I went to use Waze for the first time on the S6 today, and it was all messed up. Unsure of what the problem was, I googled for compass calibration, and it was completely uncalibrated.
Calibration was easy, though, I just need to wait until tomorrow to check if it has solved the Waze problem.
Click here for instructions to check and calibrate.
When I start my phone the accelerometer does not work, if i push the app button the menu stays over there, if i start the phone and push the button in landscape mode the menu stays there and if i push in portrait mode it stays there forever, but the car game works fine, I had this problem with Nokia 5800 that I sold and now I have the same problem with 5800 Navigation Edition. Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Firmware: 31.2.101 RM-428 TomTom Go 720 Ohio, USA.
Everyone is ranting about the auto rotate but I have never got it working on my phone. I read somewhere that it only works with the image gallery but on my E72-1 this is not so. It would be nice is someone pointed me in the right direction.
I was wondering when I am watching Videos on N900 with the accelerometer that it has why does it not rotate the Video from Landscape to Portrait Mode.I hope it does ! is it not doing it right now, because of the lack of portrait mode in it ?
I have a 5800 which I have been using without issue for 6 months or so. Several days ago, I decided to install the Skype app, for whatever reason. However, once I did this, several problems suddenly sprang up.
First, when I receive a text message to my phone, nothing happens to notify me of this. Most of the time the little envelope in the corner shows up, but not always. No sound or vibration, however, no matter what profile I have it set on. The phone still rings when I receive a call, and for alarms, but not for text messages.
Second, my accelerometer seems to have stopped working. I DID get it to work once, and the phone flipped to landscape view, but then wouldn't flip back.
I've since uninstalled skype, deleted the install file, turned the phone on and off, took the battery out and put it back in, played with all the settings, etc., and no dice.
So my accelerometer on my brand new LG G3 stopped working a few weeks ago, I thought I could live with it but its a real nuisance now. I've gone through numerous posts on various Android forums but to no prevail; I've tried recalibrating the motion sensor but each time I try to my settings app crashes...? I've also tried various apps including spirit level apps which have a sensor reset option but it can't detect an accelerometer at all! Oh and I have turned auto-rotate on and off hundreds of times, as well as turning my phone on and off. I really don't want to do a factory reset....
i saw a video on Internet which pointed this out and i was wondering is this true? i thought it is probably just software, the accelerometer probably is capable of orienting it self in more than two configurations, such as the iphone which can fully detect 3 axis (x, y, & z).... please advise me, this would be a set back on this phone if this is so....
nothing happens when I rotate my phone sideways in safari, calculator, or the keyboard. I have checked and nothing is locked in landscape mode. Also apps that require shaking do not seem to work. Sounds like a dead accelerometer - taking it back to the apple store tomorrow but will I get a replacement? Will I have to wait 3 weeks or whatever? I just got this phone 2 days ago.
Does anyone else have a problem where their photos app will not utilize the accelerometer; I thought this was a function of iOS 4?I can't rotate the galleries and even when playing a video that I recorded on the phone, It won't rotate to landscape.
The accelerometer on my phone is misaligned. I started to notice this when I played Need For Speed Shift. When I hold my phone upright, the car would slowly veer to the right. I need to calibrate / re-calibrate my acclerometer so that I can fix this annoying issue. On Samsung, there's a calibration option on the Settings. I can't find it on my phone.
Got my Z5 at the weekend and it appears the accelerometer isn't working properly. Ran diagnostics and it just runs left to right. auto rotate does not work as a consequence.
Having issues with E72 accelerometer since the latest firmware update. Turning the phone no longer silences a call or alarm since I updated although both options are ticked in the settings.
I'm really surprised to not see more posts with questions or information about turning off the tilt function of the 9800. The most annoying thing is that I like showing 3 rows of icons on the home screen, but if you tilt it, it changes to 2 rows, tilt it back to portrait and it stays at 2. This happens every time. Not to mention, on a reboot, it reverts back to 1 row! Unlike the Storm, you cannot set a default number of rows. Regardless, I would ONLY use the landscape option while watching videos....so the tilt is very annoying. Anybody know of any way to turn off the tilt function? Maybe in the programming?
When I had my Storm, there were plenty of applications out there to stop the tilt, but ALL BUT ONE did not retain the settings after a reboot. This was very annoying. Even the one that did retain after a reboot, sometimes failed to work properly.
On thursday I bought a brand new Elm. Everything seemed to work ok until i have tested the implemented facebook application it automatically checked all the profile in a rush from start to the end (normally it goes profile by profile automatically, but if you tilt the phone left or right it goes one profile left or right). I went to the service menu and i saw the coordinates are not zero when the phone is standing on the edge... i tried to tilt the phone in such way to find the "zero" and I did, but in that case the phone must be tilted a bit backwards and on the diagonal edge of the phone. I also used the SE "Water Level" app and it showed the same result, mine accelerometer is NOT working properly. I searched some pages if there is any way to calibrate it, but found nothing. Does anybody knows if it's possible to calibrate it ? Otherwise I will have to take the phone back to the store.
So yesterday my accelerometer completely stopped working. I even factory reset the phone to try and fix it. The thing that fixed it was dropping my phone on the carpet from a small height. Keep in mind that I went through a whole 8 hour work day constantly moving around, setting my phone on the desk, and setting it up in my car mount.
None of that was enough to cause enough shock to make it work. Also, my volume rocker bent in the middle from it resting against the arm of my office chair.
I made a video of the issues: URL....Skip to 1:05 for the volume rocker and 2:15 for the auto rotate issue.
I dropped my iPhone (from about 4 ft on to carpet, no big deal) but now the orientation is stuck and it won't rotate into any other views. It acts as if it is constantly being held upside down so that the home button is at the top. It won't switch into landscape or into normal portrait. I have to constantly flip my phone upside down anytime I'm using an app that rotates like FaceTime. It's like the accelerometer can't register the correct direction I'm holding the phone. Same problem when I play games that use phone tilt, the phone is constantly titled to one side an stuck there. I need to reset the accelerometer or recalibrate it at least. I tried resetting all settings, closing all apps, turning the phone off, turning on and off the rotation lock, nothing fixes it?!?!?!
Does anyone know of an app or way to use the accelerometer to flip the screen upside down? I have a speaker dock that has you flipping the phone on its top to dock. If it were any other phone it'd be ok because the ports are normally on the side duty ours Arnt. Its a Phillips speaker dock.
Is there a way to increase the sampling rate of Accelerometer values? I use the HIGHEST tag in the android and it gives me a sampling rate of 50Hz.Are there any new drivers or anything else that may allow me to go further, say till 100Hz?
I have a storm2 that was replaced a few times and the current one is the those newer issued ones with the improved touch screen. I've had it for about 2 months and my accelerometer doesn't work anymore it seems like it blew out. My phone won't rotate and if it does it stays locked and I have to open an app that only works in portrait mode. Does anyone else have this issue? What do I do?
I am unable to use Ovi suite as my nokia 5230 won't be recognised.I have deleted the Ovi suite twice and have even tried it on my other computer and it is still not being recognised.I have a new nokia data cable CA-101, but as soon as I connect it I get USB device not recognised.
I recently bought a Nokia 5230 phone. I want to use 3G services in it, I have a vofone connection, What are the things I need to do. Any quick start up guide which will help me?
