Just checked on my Xoom for updates and I get an error message syaing: "Unable to check for updates at present. Please try again later." Could this mean that ICS is about to be rolled out to UK Xooms.
This occurred after I installed few applications with the version that came with the phone in February. After the upgrade to gingerbread, it worked for a few days then acted up again. After a hard reset to factory, all working and the applications that seem to mess with the updater are weather related; my most suspicion is the Go Weather but cant isolate it for sure!
When I try to do a system update on my Bionic(Menu | Settings | About phone | System Updates)I receive a message saying Check for updates is not available at this time.This has been the situation since updating to .902.There were so many reported problems with .905 that I just decided not to update to that version but would like to try the new ICS.By the way, except for this glitch my Bionic has always worked well. How do I get System Updates to work?I've tried pulling the battery, the SD card and the SIM card per other discussions but that did not work.Don't really want to lose everything on my phone to do an update.

so, yesterday afternoon, i factory reset my dx2. i suddenly started having issues while walking through setup. original ota gb, no hacks, no roots.i was able to successfully set up my google account, opt to skip verizon backup, & then it gives me a connectivity error w/ (3) options of "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". the setup skips the screen to set up my various 3rd party accounts such as Internet, facebook, yahoo, picasa, etc. when attempting to setup my accounts via "settings" afterward, it only lists (6) of the typical 12-15 options.this just started yesterday for me & did not occur on the previous 5 factory resets performed over the last week.
the error screen presented during setup after electing to skip backup assistant states something about "connectivity is required to complete setup", giving me (3) options. "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". "retry" & "setup wifi" are still unsuccessful. selecting "skip" bypasses the ability to set up accounts.additionally, once on the home profile, "system update" states that a "motorola service account is required", giving me the same options as during setup. "retry", "setup wifi", & "skip". and trying to "add accounts" via "settings" only displays (6) available types, half of which give intermittent crazy errors about "problems with my clock on this device." or "timed out" & "your account may not be successfully setup".
I live out in the boonies in Montana. I'm on an "Extended Network". They only way I can get my Razr Maxx to check for updates is to put it in Airplane mode, then turn on my wifi. Only then does the option to check for updates become available. If this is the only way I can check for an update, am I stuck waiting until either Verizon or Moto puts the update out for manual pulling of the update? I don't think it will get pushed to me while i'm on an extended network
how to get Android Honeycomb updates installed onto my Xoom (WiFi)? I've had is since April 2011 and i'm stuck on version 3.0.1. No matter how many times I check for updates, I never get any! Getting really frustrated now about it. I'm based in the UK and the device is a UK device.
I am having a problem updating motoprint in the app store. Whenever I open the motoprint software it tells me there is an update. I click download update and it takes me to the app store, where it lists that there is an update. However when I click install update in the store it throws an error that says update not found.

I understand that your hands are loosely tied as Honeycomb is a Google OS and as such updates need to come from them.However, your competitors appear to have been able to launch with things like SD card suppor and there is still no communication about when this will occur.I am not demmanding an update NOW! Just some level of communication on the progress/eta/time-line on when there will be an update to enable all the hardware to function.I also have a number of things I would like to discuss regarding the OS itself but lets first of all see if you can at least communicate with us on the most basic level?
After installing app updates yesterday and today, I noticed app did not clear update section at the top of installed apps. It happened while updating Dungeon Defenders yesterday. It finally cleared to installed after reinstalling Dungeon Defenders three times. Could not uninstall Dungeon Defenders while trying to clear the app from the update list. Just kept reinstalling. Finally stopped showing on update list. App started normally and ran afterwards. Same thing with Angry Birds this morning. Still not off Update app list.
I have noticed that the WIFI- Network Notification ( Notify me when an open network is available) is ticked after the 3.1 updateI am presuming this means its always looking for a open network and chewing up power doing so.To save some battery, and alien networks, untick the boxUnless you ok with open network hunting and shorter battery life.
It has become clear that Motorola's tactic is to provise updates and meet promises in a fragmented way, the main issue with Xoom is the multiple number of models and builds to an extent that Motorola is not sure anymore how to handle the updates with many variables and region differences, and their way to handle this is by creating more fragmentation, the US Verizon Models were the first to receive the 3.1 update followed by the US Wifi ones, later will be non-US Wifi upfate to 3.1 possibly with sd card enabling, followed by non-US 3g with the same update and finally back to the US Verizon 4g upgrade and sd enabling concurretly or sd after 4g.Some have predicted this when the US upfate started and Motorola denied at the time. Now it is clear this is the plan.
I've been pressing the "Check for updates" button frequently in anticipation for Cyan, but suddenly it's not working right. The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.
In s6 setting when automatic check for updates is on. is it possible It will install the update without me knowing this? because apparently a update is available for the ram problem. When i contact samsung belgium they say that they don't know about a ram problem and an update from samsung. And when i check for firmware update ... nothing
I have an At&t HTC M8. I go into settings and tap "Check for Updates" and it turns gray as I tap to select it, but turns white again when I release it. Then I get a "Device Management is running" notification in my notification tray until I go into my tuning apps and force quit "HTCdm." It happens time after time, I've tried soft and hard restarting the phone.
Shows last time the phone checked for updates in its own was 10:07am this morning. When I try to "check now" it says unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped...why?? This has been going on all day even after turning the phone off and on...

With device 'on' and connected to my PC by USB, I have repeatedly tried the website update button over the last week. Nine times out of ten, the instant I click produces 'Error on page' at screen bottom and repeat clicking gets me nowhere. Once in ten tries, a progress bar opens at screen bottom. It usually takes 30 minutes to reach 50% and by 45 minutes, there has been no further progress and 'Error on page' is displayed. I have the BB Desktop Manager software installed on the PC.
I haven't tried to update my phone for a while. Initially (20 months ago when I purchased the phone) I was very keen to as you said there would be an imminent update to froyo, after months of waiting and searching forums to only to see dozens of other perplexed by the lack of any update I gave up to my dissappointment and have been waiting to receive an update automatically.I've just read that motorola were issuing upgdate to Android 2.2 nearly a year ago and that 2.3 is even available, however all I've had for the past week when attempting to check for an update is the message "The device is unable to connect to the server. Unfortunately my tablet is not recognized as an MTP device by my computer (I'm using Linux). So, I tried something else: I usually use an application named SwiFTP (an FTP server) on my Android devices. But I don't understand why, this app and all the others FTP apps I tried won't work on my Xoom 2ME. I suspect some kind of Motorola's internal firewall.
I've suddenly started getting problems with my laptop seeing my Xoom. when I connect via the supplied usb cable my laptop makes the "bing bong" noise so I know it is aware of the Xoom but it no longer appears in the file explorer window. Also, in a different kind of problem, when I tried to pair the Xoom with my " Document to go" app it won't see the Xoom either. It bleats on about going to settings on the Xoom and checking the usb settings but there is nothing in the Xoom settings menu about usb at all.transfering files to/from the Xoom to my laptop is getting to be a right pain in the backside. Any solutions before one of these items gets thrown in the bin? I just want to transfer files, Office docs mainly, to my Xoom. How hard can it be?
I bought a Motorala Xoom from Best Buy. The Xoom has always been unable to connect the Verizon network. So far I have only used it with wifi. I really now need it to connect to Verizon. When I take it into the store the techies are at a loss. Should I contact Motorala directly? I receive this error: Activation failed, Unable to activate mobile data service. To try activiation again touch Try again. You can activate your mobile data service later in Settings under Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.
