I have owned my Razr just over a week and been dismayed at it's inability to pick up a signal . In the building where I work it will not pick up a signal anywhere - not at my desk, in the kitchen, the stairwell .. nowhere. My previous phone, Nokia E63, never had less than 4 bars and oft 5 and picked up a signal anywhere in the building even , and appologies for TMI, when sat on the loo.So is this the norm with the Razr ? Is it not great at picking up signals and should I see if I can swao to a different phone - a colleagues Smasung Galaxy S 2 has no problems getting a signal, or might there be something wrong with the one I have in particular ?
I updated my Razr Maxx on Monday. Tried doing it sooner, but was getting the bug where it wouldn't validate the update. Ever since my signal strenght has been much worse than before. I no longer get signal in some places that I go for work that I had no issues with before. In those I still get signal I have issues connecting to data where I never did before. Even at home my signal is much worse.I realize that ICS displays the strength differently, but the way it displays should have nothing to do with actual usability. Can hardly use my phone at all anymore while working whereas I had no issues before update.
I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.
I only live 1 1/2 miles from an AT&T tower and the reception I get with my Iphone is horrible, dropped calls and the signal is 1 to 2 bars. I would like to hear from someone that is using an Atrix HD phone that is at least 1 1/2 miles from a tower and find what kind of reception you are getting before I spend $450.00 to purchase this phone and find that I am know better than with the Iphone.
Over the past two weeks I've tried three different Atrix phones and two different SIM cards, but I still have poor reception, especially indoors. The current signal strength readings are: -113 dB, ecno: -18, rat: 3g. At the AT&T store, which is right next to a cell tower, their demo Atrix has -52 dB signal, while mine varies between -62 dB and -88 dB. They tell me not to worry about the signal strength unless I'm dropping calls, but conversations are often unintelligible even though they're not dropped.
While connected to my wireless for data, voice signal strength hovers at 1 bar. I can't find the signal strngth meter in settings to double check this as I write... when I am connected to 3g I typically see 3-4 bars...
my friends u20i is not picking up signal and i cant work out why.have turned it on and off, cleaned the SIM, checked most of the settings, charged the phone and updated from 1.6 to 2.1 all to no avail.also tried checking with orange UK to see if there are signal issues in the local area but nothing showing up.
My old bb curve 8310 was sitting in my drawer since last september. I had upgraded to the 8900 september of 09, and I was just being noisy and pulled out the 8310 well I turned it on and it had the little 'x' in the top right corner, saying there was no service (yes my SIM was inside and placed correctly). So I took it out and put it back into my 8900 and all worked fine. But then the 8310 didn't even say 'SOS' in to top corner and there was no connections at all. I then replaced the antenna thinking that was the problem but apparently its not bc it still won't pick up a signal. Now it restarts every time I touch it.
I have a new home router. my I phone is picking up the wifi signal. But my password for my router does not work. I've tried keying the home phone number and they the airport sign comes up but I have NO connection.
It's a 2WIRE AT&T router for a DSL line. Do I need to set up something under DHCP or BootP or Static settings?
I no longer have the 3G network and I can get WiFi at all other WiFi spots except when a 2WIRE DSL box (router) is being used.
I bought an unlocked storm and everything was great for a few weeks. One day I cant make calls or texts or anything and under the manage connections icon it says im picking up verizon network instead of att.
All of a sudden on Saturday my nokia E5 stopped picking up a signal and started freezing, the text msg sign is also flashing on the screen. I had used the maps app earlier on in the day so don't know if this has anything to do with it. Its not the sim card because I have it working in another phone. I always know the E5 was a phone!
I'm having bad luck with wired headsets in my Droid Razr. I'm using a mic+ headset with the 3.5mm connector. I get poor voice quality.Bluetooth works well, though I like wired stereo headsets.
I was working after lunch and noticed that my phone was getting hotter and hotter. When I looked at the screen it showed constant data up and down. I wasnt syncing anything or surfing but it wouldnt stop. I shut down and restarted and even did the software "Battery Pull" but soon enough it would start data again and the battery would be eaten up. It was on 4G. Then finally it would stop an hour or so later. If I start the music app again it starts all over. Here is a thread on another site where we are trying to narrow it down. They think it may be the media server as it shows a lot of data usage!
About two weeks ago I had bought 2 N97 sphones, one for me and mini-one for my wife (yes I know lack of imagination)... Everything went just fine (after an software upgrade) but my smile went out when I was playing with gps signal: no more than 3-4 satellites, even on clear sky in the middle of the park (unsurrounded by buildings, trees or anything that may obstruct a gps signal). Being a new phone I thought it can be fixed by warranty but shock, they declinde any responsibility saying "It is nothing wrong with my phone so nothing to be fixed"...
I have a problem with my signal when I enter my college building, the reception will fall so low that it will show "no service" and if I try to manually connect to my service provider, it says they are unavailable. my sim works fine, I've recently received a new sim, and my phone is updated to 2.1, awaiting the 2.3 update. I've upgraded from a Samsung Jet and even that had perfect signal in lessons, never went below 2 bars, so why is the X10 so poor at signal strength? is there anything I can do to stop this? is the phone at fault here?
Does anyone have poor signal quality on their phone? I frequently have 1 or two bars, and then the next second I have 5 bars and then down to nothing... all when standing still! Is this just a HTC feature, as I see other HTC phones have the same issue.
The funny thing is that any signal monitoring App that I've installed tells me I have 25% signal, when the phone won't connect to the network!
i have very poor signal with my brand new iphone 4s that i only got yesterday on a contract, improve my signal, as my iphine is normally in NO SERVICE! would i be able to send it back to apple or something?
In the last two weeks my reception at home has got very bad. What can I do to increase the reception. I have seen stickers to stick to the back of the phone ? There seems to be an APP on Blackberry world but I don't know if it is a scam.
I wonder if anyone can clarify the following:- My N97 is due to have the complete back assembly replaced due to bad GPS reception (been on order for 4 weeks but due to be delivered this week). I have read on other forums that a piece of foam is also fitted at the same time which shields the GPS receiver from interference from the main circuit board? The NSC technician has not heard of the foam so has not ordered it. My question is :- does the N97 still need the foam or is this foam now incorporated within the new back assembly.
Since i got my Z2 phone i've been having troubles with WiFi signal, but it doesn't matter to me... Last week I got a bluetooth gadget for my device and I am having issues with the bluetooth signal too, if something is obstructing between the router or bluetooth gadget and my cell phone, it present a huge loss of signal.I tested with my old phone (Xperia ION) and works great, so there's a trouble with the bluetooth / wifi receptor of my device... ¿How could I fix it? My warranty has expired, maybe an update? I'm running with 5.0.2 android version
I have owned the nokia 6600 slide for 3 months now and I have to say it is the worst mobile phone I have owned. I have never had a mobile phone that has such poor signal quality, and it drops calls due to this.Just a question to nokia I quote:When designing this phone and you located the antenna at the bottom of the phone where 90% of the time when you pick it up it gets covered, did you not think it would have an affect on the ability of the phone to pick a signal up.When I turn the phone upside down I get a brilliant signal and the 3g network is a lot stronger. I can't cope with this anymore and using a phone I had 3 years ago only because it works!Come on nokia help us out as am tied into a 18 months contract with a phone that is useless even though all the other features are good. I believe there should be a recall on this phone as I have compared signal strengths with other nokias and makes and they are far better.
I'm using iPhone 5s (32GB) on a 4G network in Singapore.
Ever since I upgraded my firmware to iOS 8 and later, among other frustrations like battery drain, I'm also facing a significant drop/fluctuation in the network signal strength, home WiFi signal, and the Bluetooth range.Â
I'm unable to stream videos like I used to on Cellular Data. I used to get (when the phone ran on iOS 7.1.2) all 5 bars most of the time even inside the lift/elevator, but now it switches to un-browsable (don't know why) 3G mode even at the heart of the city.Â
I bought an Xperia Ray last Saturday because my HTC Salsa was struggling to connect and stay connected to my home wifi and also had internal memory problems (not enough internal memory)..Now I'm having different wifi problems with the Ray.It connects but the connection is very slow although nothing else is accessing the wifi and when my husband connects with his Samsung Galaxy it is fine and very fast. Every time the screen light goes out (set to every 10 mins at the moment) it seems to drop the wifi connection and when I "wake " it again it has just the mobile connection but starts to connect again straight away, unfortunately this is not fast.
It has very poor signal reception among all phone I've ever used. I can never get full bar for wcdma, even in gsm only, the signal bar could drop to zero. Do not say it's a simcard or network provider problem because I had try everything like put my sim card in other phone, try another simc ard in my phone. I even make a comparison with xperia play and the xplay does not have this problem. Today I'm updating my phone with the latest update from pc companion, it still did not solve the problem..
Phone was sitting on my desk plugged in to power cord with 4G turned off.I have a very strong 3G signal at my office, I can see the tower out my window. The phone dropped the data connection and it took about 5 minutes for the 3G data connection to come back.I was getting used to this happening with 4G but now 3G too?
almost since day one, i have not really had the pleasure of enjoying what 4g signal is really like. i'm in chicago, and when ever i'm either downloading music or streaming video (netflix, Internet) or downloading anything that requires data, the phone completely loses the 4g connection and takes at times up to 5 minutes for the signal to come back. if i keep the phone on 3g only it does not happen, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a 4g device. the "data saver" in settings is off.
I own a Droid Razr MAXX that I purchased in the June timeframe, so it is still essentially new. My phone was updated to ICS when Verizon pushed the update out to everyone a few weeks back. Initially, I was excited to be getting the update to help improve phone performance and functionality. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience.
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed that my phone signal strength has diminished. Since I work a desk job, I sit in pretty much the same exact location each day and it is easy to notice signal strength. Before ICS, I usually had a 4G connection with 3-4 bars. Now, my phone fluctuates between struggling to connect to 4G and eventually connecting to 3G with 1-2, maybe 3 bars. In fact, the signal icon frequently changes from blue bars to white (I'm not sure what it means, but it probably isn't good). The phone seems to run slower and my apps frequently crash a few times per day. In addition, my phone seems to be using more battery now too. Before ICS, I could work a full day and still have 70% battery remaining. Now, I'm lucky to have 40-50%.
I haven't added any new apps, but have a few more .MP3 songs saved to my SD card. In addition, I don't believe there are local issues with a cell tower going down, etc.
When I connect to my Home network using wifi, the signal is very weak unless I am within 5 feet of my router. I am using a valet router with up to date software. Other people in my house have other droid models and no problem with their signal strength. I have tried other routers and I get the same result so I know it isn't just my router.
I have a new Droid Razr and it cannot locate the wifi signal in the DOE laboratory that I work in. My 4 year old HP computer has no problem. Verizon 4G signal is fine as well as signal from Verizon based wifi hotspot. I know the signal exists, the phone simply cannot find it.
