Motorola Photon 4G :: Battery Lasts Only 4 Hours Without Any Use?
Dec 23, 2011
I bought the Motorola Photon 4G in the U.S. but I live in Brazil. In the first 10 days of use it worked perfectly, had battery life of 36 hours with moderate use. After you update it to last OTA, I do not know if it was coincidence, the battery does not last more than 4 hours without any use. Already reset to factory rom, I used several methods to calibrate and the battery remains the same. The screen and battery get very hot when using the photon. I bought new batteries and charger and nothing changed. The interesting is that even disconnected the battery completely discharges within hours. I use the minimum screen brightness, WiFi, GPS, bluetooth and data are off. Right now I have only the factory-installed app, and yet the battery only lasts about 4 hours. The Photon is not sold in Brazil, therefore, have no guarantee nor an authorized service center for Motorola Photon. From what I see must be a hardware problem, does anyone know what might be happening?
I received a new Blacberry bold 9790 but the battery lasts only about 2 hours. Also the phone gets very hot after about 20 minutes. I returned the phone stating the problem. I received a new phone only to experience the same problem. I again returned the phone and are now awaiting feedback.
So I have had my blackberry for a bit over a year now. And it was all working fine until a couple of days ago.Now the battery only seems to last for about 2.5hours, from being 100% to shutting off because of low battery. I havent got applications running in the background, and have read and followed all of the maximise battery life posts.I used to be able to leave it for a day or more with it being fine.
What can I do to solve this, as it is really inconveniencing my life at the moment, because it just isnt staying on long enough for me to do anything.and its a blackberry curve 8250 and the battery says 'capacity 1150mAh' and C-S2.
1) i charged the battery of my phone over night (meaning in the morning it was fully charged). by 3pm it was already totally empty. i re-charged it till dinner. now at 11:30pm it is again fully empty and i noticed also that the phone and battery are totally hot! what do i do? this doesn't seem normal. i recently downloaded 2 games onto the phone but i don't think this has necessary somethign to do with it.
2) i have a problem with the trackpad. it moves around the menu normally and sometimes within inside options, but as example inside an sms to move up and down sentences or messages, it doesn't move at all. it doesn't move at all. i try to see if i changed a setting or something but didn't seem to find anything.
So today my Nokia Lumia Icon (Still on 8.0) had the "4 hour bug." This is where the phone gets quite hot and the battery lasts less than 4 hours on idle.
What was interesting to me, though, was after my battery died and I tried charging it, it'd get stuck in a loop.
1)Battery Icon with Red Line showing "Charging." 2)Vibrate 3)Nokia Logo 4)Repeat every 5-10 seconds.
Doing a Soft Reset fixed it (Volume Down + Power for 15 seconds) but I'm still wondering if there's been anything from Nokia or Microsoft about this issue other than "We are aware of it." It's been 10 months since this issue arrived on older devices, and it seems to be a Nokia-wide issue.
My iPhone 5 64GB is not working as well as I think it should be. After about 3 hours of usage (according to usage statistics in settings), which is just Facebook and web browsing, and 9 total hours of standby, the battery dies. This is mainly over 4G with medium brightness. Background App Refresh is off, most location services are off, Push emails are off, reduce motion is on. I have tried everything I have found online to try and fix this, but nothing has worked. On top of that, my iPhone was just replaced at an Apple Store, so I'm not really sure what it could be.
I'm an iphone 3G and since it was purchased was no longer holding charge, is fairly new, it was never used properly, since the battery lasts less than 3 hours ..
Have had my experia x10 for almost a year now, and battery tended to last for 2 days (using for calls/ texts/ internet) In the last few days though- I have fully charged my phone overnight, not used it at all during the day, and it has a completely dead battery 6 hours later. I've not got any applications running except for Cardio Trainer, but have always had this running.
Have my BB 9700 just for about 2 months now, when i got it i notice there was an issue with the battery life but now it is only lasting about 4 hours on light use, just have bb groups and a few calls and phone goes off.
I have a Nokia N8. As there was Symbian Anna on it, I have optimized my battery consumption. It was running at least 2-3 days. Now after upgrading to Anna it lasts only 8 hours. This is really not much.
What can I do? I have no Apps like Skype or WhatsApp running. Also I disabled all autostart apps with SafeManager.
After i Update firmware my batter is lasts around only 3 to 4 hours i seen any applications , therez application called SecureWizardPreInstaller, but its not openeing and its not closing what it is all baout how to solve my problem?? And also my mobile became dead slow.
My fully charged phone will be down to 0% battery after 4-5 hours. During this time, I havent even used it. This has occured for the last 3 days, and I have not downloaded any apps or updated any apps for 6 days.
I gave my sister my old curve its about 1 1/2 yrs old. the day i gave it to her the phone worked just fine but after she flew back home the battery would only last her a few minutes. i told her to try a new battery but it still has not changed anything. i even got her to upgrade to 5.0 just to see if it would make any difference but it doesnt.
she barely uses any apps, and mostly uses the phone for emailing.on standby it will every 10minutes or so the battery life will go down by 10%, and after a few texts or a minute or two on a call the phone will just die. she can pretty much just use it when its connected to a power source.Seems like a phone issue but there is no warranty on it
I have two fairly new 9320 phones. Both phones do not hold their charge for more than 24 hours. Is there a setting on the phone which I can check to potentially fix this problem? This is a new phenomenon. The phones were OK ( for holding their charge) when I purchased them. If it is relevant I recently spoke to my service provider about the poor signal in my area and followed their instructions to make certain adjustments on the phones to (marginally) improve the reception. Is it possible that this operation/adjustment could have changed the battery life characteristics?
have been using my defy for a few weeks now, waiting för 2.2 but, i cant get more battery time than about 36 h, and that whit no extra apps, everything i can fin is off except gsm what i culd read before i bought i was, up to 238 h time i can accept poor batterytime if i use it a lot and whit bt,wifi, gps and more things on and running, but havint it as a normal phone an charge it every night is, about back to 1995 and my first gsm phone what is possible to do to get more batterytime?
Motorla defy uses the new update from Moto Froyo 2.2 update 2 Moderate usage My Battery comes only for 44Hours and 36 Mins that not even 2 days completely usage as follows
In the past week, my battery life has gone down to about 5 hours from fully charged with little to no use. I checked my battery use and it shows that Cell Standby is at 61%. Time without a signal is indicated at 50%; even though I normally have 4 to 5 bars of 3G signal stength all the time.
I uninstalled several apps including anything I added in the last couple of weeks. No change. I did recently get an aftemarket Cellit USB car charger. Is it possible that I screwed up the battery by using this car charger?
I also checked my network settings as suggested in another thread here, and my phone was already set to "GSM Auto (PRL)"; which is supposed to give much better battery life.
I do not use my phone much and my W995 used to last of over a week on one charge. After a recent software update at the beginning of September 2010, my battery now only last a couple of days. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this might be?
I was wondering whether Motorola make any improvements or optimize battery life with the ICS update on the Photon 4g while web browsing using a 3g connection. I'm referring to this review by anandtech which mentions that the "Photon's EVDO stack may not be all that power optimized".
the last few days my battery has not even come close to getting me through the day. No new apps. I look at my battery usage and find that Phone Idle is the largest user of my battery. While researching this I find tons of folks who are like "that's normal", but it is almost always even with cell standby. My usage is as follows right now (and this is what it's been like for the past 3 days): phone idle: 37%. Display: 23%, Voice calls: 15%, android OS 10%, Cell standby: 8%. Those are not the numbers anyone else I've spoken to that is running android is seeing. They are seeing phone idle running even or just below cell standby. I'm off battery for 8 hours and down to 25%. I won't make it home before I have to plug in the phone, and for the last 6 months my battery has been making it all day.
I got the OTA update today, and when I downloaded it, my battery was fully charged. When the update was installed and the phone rebooted, the battery was down under 10% and is taking forever to charge. Is this a bad side effect of today's update or did the battery somehow get fried during the update process?
Today while I was charging my phone I had something interesting happen my battery started discharging. While the phone was on the charger it became very hot. I Took the phone to the phone to the sprint store store where they ordered a new one as they could not figure out the problem. Once I got back home the phone started charging normally.
I've had this Photon Q lte for 3 weeks, and the battery is ridiculous. I have to charge it at least twice a day, even when I'm not using it for anything. Wifi is always off because I don't need it, but sometimes my battery analysis lists wifi as having used almost 25% of the power! I can't find anywhere else to turn it off. I'm having serious regrets about being stuck with this thing for 2 years!
I saw similar questions in the forum but none of them had a working answer and I tried all the different solutions and none of them worked. Also none of the other threads described the issue exactly as I am going to describe it below:When spending the entire day within WiFi signal or when disabling cellular data, my phone lasts for 16+ hours with at least 30% battery leftThis includes normal use of the phone - some browsing, some talking and some playingWhen out of WiFi signal and with cellular data enabled (i.e. phone is on 3G) without using the phone at all.
screen is locked the whole time, the phone heats up and battery is drained within 2 hoursLooking at CPU usage when the phone heats up shows that the only component using relatively a lot of CPU is "Android System" but always less than 50%Looking at the battery usage "Display" and "Phone Idle" are always on topThe interesting part is looking at data usage - On the instances that the phone was heating up while on 3G and not doing anything with it (no application is running and the phone is locked)"Contacts"application is always on top with about 1MB of data usage per hour and no other application is even close to itAs an experiment I removed all the accounts from my phone so that I have no contacts at all and no server to sync or try to sync the contacts with and the result was the same - phone heats up, battery drained and Contacts is on top of the data usageMy conclusions from this are that the reason for the battery drain is usage of 3G data and that the Contacts application is the one in charge of the data usage.
I currently don't have internet and the only way i have internet is through my phone so i was wondering that when im tethering will damage or hurt my phone in any way everything seems to be going good no damage yet but can i expect to see degraded perfomance in the future if i continue to do so or something like loss of battery performance
I'm using Go Launcher Ex and Juice Defender now. My battery life had improved a little but...Even when the screen is off and I'm not using the phone, Phone Idle takes up most of the energy while in that state. Last night Phone Idle was on 6:51:43 while the phone was off of the battery for 7:53:53.On top of this, the phone is awake almost all night. It does drain only a little bit at night.During use Phone Idle still is on much of the time. My phone drains rapidly when the screen is on.The phone has signal all day and night. I'm in a good coverage area.My questions are: Is it normal for the phone to be awake when not in use for most of the time when not in use? Should Phone Idle be on most of the time when the phone has consistent good signal?
So had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work! Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.
since the update i have had bad battery life even without use and prior to the update my phone battery would show the display being the most used and now its the phone idle is there a reason why this is having such a high usage now when befor it was never high?
