Motorola Motoactv :: How To Display Miles As One Of Metric Settings
Sep 10, 2012
In the settings you can select what you want to display. I know that the distance in miles is displayed in the upper right corner all the time but it is so small and I don't wear my glasses when I'm running so I can never read what it says.
Is there a way to select the distance in miles as one of the four metric settings you can select to have displayed on the workout screen? If so can you tell me what it is called because when I select the "Distance" settings that isn't it. And I have no idea what "Distance - Stage" is but I tried that and it didn't show the distance I ran as one of the four settings in the center of the screen either.
Right now I have the pace selected and when you tap on it it fills practically the whole screen so I can read that without my glasses. But I want to be able to read how many miles I have run.
Response from the customer service Europe Motorola:"....We inform you that the program of golf, since the Beta, will not be upgraded to the metric system and will remain with the yard...."
So i went for my run yesterday and about 3/4 miles away from finishing the MA start acting up. It was saying i was running at a ~6mpm pace. i know for a fact that i wasn't! Then suddenly i was done, I would say less than 1/2 mile away from target. at that point I was so tired that i didn't care that much. but i do care now. On the route map i can see where it all went down and the MA stop tracking my distance. not sure why it happened, but its the first time.
how to change the Motoactv device to show miles instead of km? I cannot figure it out and I've searched online and through the manual. I have figured out how to do it on the Motoactv website where you can schedule workouts and view your information.... but I just cannot get the units changed on the device. I've gone through the device and tried the settings menu, but it didn't seem to be in there either.
So yesterday looking into my portal, which I admit having been doing for a while other that for downloading the cvs. file to use with training peaks, thought, "new update for the device...probably new stuff for the portal", and guess what...yep, the motoactv team finally added steps and step rate (cadence) as a metric. Finally I thought, but is broken. The portal's able to show the amounts of steps taken but on the step rate it shows zero, and by zero I meant, no data whatsoever. I've been waiting for this to be added for to long.
I purchased a new bike, and changed the setting default profile for cycle to MTB2, and I changed the tire size 29 after I noted the problem after the first run that the ACTV was set to the default cycle, (I guess) but since I started riding this bike the milage and mph have been off, the first ride was showing I think it was 22 miles, it was on 1 apr 2012, you can check my workouts, but we really rode about 27 miles. Today I rode exactly 22 miles and it was showing a little over 20 miles?
I hope I've missed something in the settings, I can't use this if its not accurate, plus I used it for 1 hour and 45 minutes today and the battery was almost at 0%? This is a problem considering that I will be doing 100 miles rides, which can take several hours.
My MotoActv shows the correct elevation on the unit during a workout but when that information is sync'd the elevation is corrupted and shows about 10,000' too high. And, the "elevation" metric does not show up on the chart even though I've selected it. Speed, distance, calories burned, etc. all show up - but not elevation. On my last workout the maximum elevation shows 15,123' and the low elevation shows 13,382'.I live in Moab, Utah at an elevation of about 4,600'. I did about 600' of climbing on the workout. We don't even have any peaks around here that are over 15,000
Please note a couple of minor bugs.1) Date displayn the options of the MotoACTV device you can set the date display format to the ISO unambiguous yyyy/mm/dd format, which is what I prefer. On the motoactv web app Under Display Preferences/Data Format, there is only dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy. Please provide the more sane unabiguous yyyy/mm/dd format so this can be consistent.) Display Units My Display Units are set to Metric. However on the MotoACTV web app when I select Workouts/Latest Workout/Workout Stats, the distance and pacing are recorded in km, but the elevation shows in ft. I am not sure at this point if it is the 'ft' label is wrong, or the actual numeric display and/or conversion is wrong, but you guys I'm sure can figure this out. You can verify this here:
I have my display settings so that the display goes off after 1 minute. This works when I activate the display and navigate around, the screen then goes off after 1 minute based on the last touch. But if I just hit the power button or shake to wake the display, and I don't touch the screen, then the display goes off after a few seconds.
Is there a way to keep the display on and not timed to go off? I generally ride or run a few hours and would need the display to stay on to be useful.I also would like to use it as a watch but that times out also and turns the display off.
I would like the watch to show the time continuously without the display getting off. I managed twice the display to show down the time but I can't recall how I did it?
been reading forums on exporting workouts (rides) and seem to be missing something:
where do i find the .csv data files to upload to SportTracks? What I am really trying to do is convert files to .gpx (or .tcx)so I can add rides to Strava.
If this can be achieved directly to Strava...The Motoactv watch will become a hit in Australia, giving the Garmin Edge solid competition.
I have oceania maps loaded, though the display is blank on the device... it tracks and shows position during workouts, just the background is blank.
Today is my rest day. However, when I sat down to organize my training schedule for the coming week, the schedule was showing a weight training workout completed today. It appears that last Sunday's workout is displaying as completed today. This kind of thing was happening shortly after the big software update in March. This is not the only problem I am currently having and I am bouncing around multiple threads at this time. I reiterate, I am happy with the new features included in the recent update, but I am not so happy with the basic functions that seem to have gone awry in its wake.
Is there a way to stop the display from timing out? I'd like to attempt to wear the MOTOACTV as a watch most of the time and keep the watch display up with a low brightness to minimize battery usage.
The date and time display in the upper left corner is blurred together. The device did not get wet. Also, I turned it off and back on and still no change. Are there any other suggestions? I am running the latest software.
For the past couple of weeks, I have had some problems with the HR display. The device will show my HR shifting rapidly from up to 209 BPM down to 0BPM and occasionally to no reading at all. This usually happens at the beginning of a workout and goes to normal after several minutes. I keep my chest strap very clean so I know that it isn't dirt and sweat disrupting transmission. When it first started I assumed that it was a sign of a dying battery but changing it didn't make a difference. This only happens during running and aerobic activities. With weight training and yoga there doesn't seem to be a problem.
1) what "stages" are and how they're used? There is nothing in the manual about them.
2) Is there no way to have the live data screen display the total time and distance since the beginning of the workout? It appears that you can only choose lap, stage, or zone time.
I just did a run and, looking at it on the portal, the map location displayed when inspecting a particular section of the run is incorrect.
Motoactv is at 1.7.2 N16, normal sampling rate.
The pause in the run at 10min30 should be at the intersection of kerney and filbert which is the highest point of the run. The map displays it at Filbert and Medau Pl
I cannot seem to display heart rate percentage on my MOTOACTV.
On the options, I can only see options to display the heart rate in bpm. I used to have the garmin forerrunner and it was easy to do this. Does motoactv support this option?
I already tried several times to change my time zone, my height and set the metric system as default. But every time I go back to the portal, it's back to the default from the site! Is it just me?
Is there a way in which the MotoActv website can remember my settings?I also want to display the 'show non active days' when I show my Recent Workout, Again, this is something I have to tick every time I visit that page.
My run workouts are being truncated, when I actually perform my run the display shows correctly but when I end my workout my information is truncated. Example went on a 7mile run everything displayed correctly but when I ended my workout the results show only 5.19 miles of my run.
