Motorola Milestone XT720 :: Screen Keeps Lighting Up Regularly Though It's Locked

I have a slight problem with my Milestone XT720. When I lock the screen (whether I just lock it using the power button or I wait for it to lock itself or I set up the code to lock the phone) after a while the screen lights up for a few seconds and after that it fades to black again. This happens 3 or 4 times in a row and then again after a while (maybe 10 or 20 minutes). I own this phone only few days and haven´t got completely in grips with it but I could not find any setting that would turn this off and neither I found anything useful in the user guide. Is this something I can fix by disabling something or is it a fault of some kind?
Personally, it does not bother me that much but I imagine it shortens battery life a bit so I´d rather sort it out.

I have a milestone, and love the thing. Just today it started operating and running by itself. what i mean is when i unlock it, its opening applications, opening settings and just operating its self without me touching. This is not accidental cause i can see it right on my hand just doing all soughts of things like opening messages, playing music stopping and reshuffling and as if Ãnvisible hands' are operating it. sometimes its too fast that it hangs, becomes unresposive. i thought it was deu to the applications i downloaded

I bought my phone in South Korea, I paid the contract fees with my local carrier overthere and she said: "that's all, the phone is all yours" (It seems that she never notice that I was foreigner and I am planning to come back to my country...plop!).when I arrived I found that my SIM was not working, so I downloaded an SBF file for US and installed it with RSDlite, it asked me for a subsidiary unlock code, so I managed to get one (I paid :/) so all was donne, I got my phone working and I even update it to FroYo 2.2.1 with a korean website.BUT without 3G connection.
looking arround I found and app (basebandswitcher V4) that will change my baseband to one that I could use and fix my problem, but it says "this app needs root access" so I managed again to root my phone, everything fine until I pick the baseband (Americas), then reboot and now my phone is stucked in Motorola logo, and it restart over and over and over.I tried to flash the old korean sbf version to it, and after it successfully finish, keeps restarting again and again.

I just get an unlocked XT720 but I have a problem with the T-mobile network. I have a data plan but I can not access to the internet or receive MMS through this network and it not appear 3G on my signal bars. I think it is due to server configuration. Anyone know how to configure my phone? or where can I found it?

I keep learning about this phone, But how to cancel a phone call quickly, I do see the android icon and the red END, on a normal call. But when pushing buttons and inadvertently going to somebodys phone #, I find later it dialed a number and I didn't know that. And I get charged. How do I avoid that? I use the back arrow- no, push home-no, menu-no. I seem to do this on e-mail as well.

For about a week now, there is an icon in the notification bar that my system is getting updates. An orange circle is on top of the icon and the number in that circle has climbed to 50. I only have about a dozen apps installed. When I pull down the notifications list and select this update list, the title is "Ongoing" and the apps are TweetDeck(Twitter, Facebook),... If I touch that line, it may go to the market or more often bounces back to the ome screen. How do I cancel what it is doing and stop it from continually trying to update apps. I have gone through all the settings and still no luck. God, what a stupid, bug filled OS.

I tried to send an image to my laptop. I was able to pair my laptop and my Moto Milestone XT720.On the first pic that I've sent through Bluetooth it went on smoothly. But then when I tried to send again, it didn't went through.The error says "Connection failure". When I checked the bluetooth settings the the laptop is paired but not connected.I tried to unpair and then paired again but still it won't connect.I turned the bluetooth on and off and still not connected.I even restarted both my laptop and my phone and still not connecting.

I own a French Retail A953 Milestone 2 and I'm looking forward to android 2.3 update. So, after followed the thread [URL]and it's on ! is there anything i can do to improve flash video playback? after the 2.2 update i was excited to be able to use flash on my phone, but video playback on it seems so bad that it's unwatchable.it's like a slideshow at best, and at worse i'm only getting one frame every thirty seconds or so. oddly enough the sound never skips or stutters at all.i've tried it over wifi and 3g. Internet videos in the native app and other non-flash streaming media seem to work perfectly.i'm using the stock browser with flash player 10.2.157.51 (the latest one available in the android market), and i've tried several different videos linked from m.flash.com

I updated my Milestone which is UAE version to Froyo yesterday after a long delay, was really excited all evening until i discovered two problems with my wifi.The Device does not connect to the corporate network as my office uses 802.1x EAP and there is no place to enter proxy where as my friends using samsung galaxy s (Froyo 2.2) connect to the network and browse using the wifi advanced settings to enter the proxy in their device.

I have a problem in my milestone. Im trying to update my milestone to froyo from eclair 2.1 update 1 via MSU (Motorola Software Update). But after some minute It restart with a blank screen then reboot to OS and MSU says update failed. My last resort is to flash it via RSDLITE but when im trying to get into bootloader it shows blank screen then reboot to OS. I cant enter to my bootloader.

I rmb someone else reported this but I can't find the post. who else had this problem? the left side of my touchscreen when closed has a gap now with the keyboard to the point where if i press on the touchscreen, it will depress and "click".it's getting really annoying and i'm trying to "bend" the slider back so it doesn't but obviously that doens't help.

I have a moto milestone which I am using for last five/six months. Recently I realized that it's hardware keyboard is getting harder to slide out. While sliding out, it felt like it is brushing somewhere inside or the feeling was as if it needed lubrication.
I made a huge mistake (which I realized afterwards) of putting a drop of very thin high grade oil on the slider rail. Although it was only a single drop, it sipped through from inside the screen. After three days, it has started showing. The bottom portion of the screen looks like there are oily stains from side. The touch screen functionality has NOT got affected at all. But it is looking bad when the screen lights up and the background is white.

I had to replace the Digitizer Lens and the Flux Code with new ones in my Milestone A853.After the replacement every thing is working fine except one thing.Whenever I make a call the screen goes black on connecting the call.I can't see the caller number or Caller Screen.But when I slide the HW Keyboard slightly the Caller Screen appears.What is reason for this?Is this connected with the Digitizer or any other issue?And what is the remedy for this?

Have a brand new install of Windows 7 64bit and a 6 month old Milestone 2 which has always succesfully connected to PC/Mac in USB mass storage mode, but when trying to connect to new Windows & PC the PC tries to install MTP drivers that fail.Solution is to select the failed device in device manager and manually install the driver selecting the device as a USB mass storage device and not the default MTP device.

1) I used to use the incase slider case for my iPod and 3GS. Loved it. Anything like this for the Droid? Unfortunately it's a slider phone so there's probably gonna be a tough time getting a hardshell case.. Anyway, what's a good case? I know there's always "that ebay case" but this applies to any phone. With iPhones especially there's a good number of quality reputable cases. What about for Droid?
2) Screen protector necessary? I see people go forever with iPhones and no screen protectors yet their screens are nice. Yeah, coated glass is hard to scratch like camera filters. What about the Droid's screen? Should I get one? I may just order Bodyguardz/Invisible Shield.

I upgraded to 2.3.4 Gingerbread about a week ago. System version is 64.1.22.A953.Retail.en.GB No problem for the first few days but since then the screen switches off randomly (that new CRT-style shutdown, very cute). I can be viewing Google Maps, or using the camera, or browsing the web...doesn't seem to be a single trigger. The screen turns off and if I switch it back on quickly it will switch off again; if I wait a few seconds and switch on then it stops freaking out and the screen stays on.I've been using Cloudskipper and WinAmp with the lockscreen features enabled (since the stock music player on Milestone2 doesn't show up on the lockscreen). Could these be the culprits - is there something unstable in 2.3's lock-screen?Screen timeout and security timeout are set to 60 minutes.

I recently purchased a ZAGG screen protector full body armor for my Milestone. I followed the given instructions and left the phone for a few days for the protector to completely attached itself to my phone. The problem is and im not sure if anyone else noticed but when i turn on my phone. I noticed that the display seems to have that red/orange effect but especially worse on a white background. It seems like a red/orange rainbow crystal effect, like tiny crystallized red dots all over the screen. I decided to leave the phone for a few more days that perhaps it is just the solution but it is still there. So, i removed my ZAGG and replaced with a new spare ZAGG (I bought 2 ZAGG protectors.) and this time, I tried it out WITHOUT any of the solution and still no luck.
I phoned ZAGG customer service and they said that it could be a defective ZAGG product. I am still waiting for the replacement and decided to get another second opinion from another customer service. She mentioned that it could be becuase i put too much solution but I did try it out WITHOUT the solution. So now i wasted 2 ZAGG protectors and no luck. Anybody else here in HF has put on a screen protector on a Milestone having the same effect as mine?

I have motorola xt720 and could not update motonav because motoextras does not see my phone. What I should do? I try to make an update in portal and tool mode and in storage mode but nothing happens. I can`t ever login to motoextras because of it. How I can solve this problem? My brain is shuting down.

After spending 2 hours on the forums and 2 hrs on motorola website, downloading the motorola software update and finding that the updater says that your phone is up to date with 2.1 (where as the motorola site says 2.2 is now available) and browsing thru unending discussions, I was unable to update my Motorola milestone to Android 2.2. I last week sent my phone to the service center to ask them to update it to 2.2, they returned the phone saying it is up to date.I am sick of removing applications and always worrying about the remaining ROM availability. [code]
If the official version is not available in Dubai can someone tell me of a shop where I can get it updated, as I dont really understand the concept of rooting and stuff like that.

I've been noticing recently that my Atrix generally only has about 20MB of free memory out of the 800MB or so of system memory. I thought Android was meant to manage the memory effectively but this appears not to the the case. One symptom of this is that it causes the webtop to regularly complain of lack of memory and results in Firefox automatically closing itself.

my Defy+ does also reboot. Let me explain what i already tryed.i am a T-Mobile Germany user and have a data plan called Web`n`walk flat wich only allows for webtraffic eg ports 80/443 basically.- I got the Handset replaced 2 times, however the handsets i got where not new they where "repaired" whatever that means. So i did not send mine and had to wait, actualy they replaced it at my door. So 3 different handset where the last one is the worst one. Anyway -> no difference.
- Under my contract i do have 2 SIM cards and i ask them to replace the older one with a new one so i tested 3 different SIM cards where the last once where n3 and n4 -> no difference
- delivered 2gb SD card, Samsung class2 8Gb, new Samsung 16 Gb class10, formated the 16Gb in the handset -> no difference
- 2.3.4 and 2.3.6 which i got some time at the second handset as OTA Update -> no difference
- 2 different MOTOBlur accounts -> no difference
- factory reset/cache wipe -> no difference Even i experience the reboots strait after the factory reset within the start wizzard eg on the Screen where you turn on Data Usage.
- turn data connection to 2G only -> no difference
But now:
- if i turn off DataUsage keep the phone connection active and just stay on WiFi -> no reloads for hours/days?
As the last handset keeped restarting at my house as well i connected it to the adb and capture some kernel logs.... the system dies with Kernel Panic and restarts.Here we go with an example. It is just the panic lines and a bit above. I dont understand that mutch of linux kernel debugging however. I required i could do more logs. (only without root as the phone is on the 2.3.6 kernel ROM)
