Motorola Droid X :: Verizon Killed Unlocked Boot-loader Feature For It?
Oct 23, 2011Looks like now we have someone to blame, namely Verizon.

View 13 RepliesI noticed Verizon allowed HTC and Samsung to hack unlocked bootloaders for there phones already, so it seems Verizon wouldn't have a problem with my Droid RAZR getting one. The 2 phones I have been thinking about switching out for mine are the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus because they have them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've recently heard about the Motorola Atrix getting an unlocked bootloader, however,I don't own an Atrix since it's not on Verizon.I have a Droid 2 Global which I want to be able to unlock it's bootloader so I can freely customize my phone.will there be an unlockable bootloader coming in the Droid 2 Global soon? I love this phone a lot, but this is something that I really could use.I'm willing to void my phone's warranty by unlocking it's bootloader.

After the phone rebooted, I tried making a call.Signal bars all went away and the call would not connect.I then tried power-cycling the phone; same problem.Tried enabling Test Mode, forcing CDMA mode, still won't place calls.I'm limping along on my old LG VX4600 good thing I kept it. Is there anything I can do to fix my E815 (change firmware/PRL manually)?

[code]....
There is the encryption key. This is not anything groundbreaking for the average user at this very second, but what it does mean to the average user, eventually, is that after Sony Ericsson stops releasing full version updates for our device (which is VERY likely to happen after the GB update scheduled for next month) The great people over at XDA developers will be able to provide us with full version updates that do not lack any features like they have to date. For example, when the 2.1 update was released, the devs at XDA got their hands on the code and released 2.2 for x10. However, the camera driver needed to be re-written for it to run at all...and even then it was not HD until recently because of a bootloader workaround. Now that the bootloader is wide opened we will see more updates, native wifi tethering, and if the hardware can handle it, we will see updates to full 4-point multitouch and 16million color displays. This also means we will be able to get full MIUI and CyanogenMOD support, and if you are really daring, you may even be able to make your x10 run WP7.Good things will come from this....development is still in the infant stages as this was just reported yesterday.
How to unlock the boot-loader of the Xoom 2?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to know is there a way how to unlock boot loader for Defy? I'm creating an app that needs this function to work properly with Defy. I know that this voids warranty but every other mobility company has published a safe way how to unlock bootloader (like Sony or HTC). I really need this for Defy and it would be very unfair to users who don't have Atrix or Droid RAZR.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I was talking on my Razr v3 yesterday, I experienced what I thought was just another typical of many AT&T dropped calls. However, upon further inspection, I noticed my phone had gone into boot loader mode for no apparent reason. It's done this on a couple of occasions. Once after it was accidentally dropped and another when I turned it off (then back on) because I was on a plane trip. I've been able to get it back to normal by just power cycling it until it booted. This time no such luck and the screen says the battery is 'too low to program' so if I wanted to attempt to flash it which is something I have NEVER done, I couldn't even do it due to the low battery. This is the only Razr I have and I don't know anyone that still uses one so I don't have one available to put my battery in to charge. Is this the only way to charge the battery? Is it not possible to charge it with the power off?

It is seen in the web that Motorola is going to release updates for unlocking the locks in the bootloader in its phones just like xoom from Q3 ,2011 onwards. Is it true?If so whether it will be available to the Milestone(European version) also? And to the rooted Milestone also?Whether this update is available by OTA or through web?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSeveral flashing attempts failed. Now i'm stuck in the "bootloader usb init" screen.(but thats another problem i'm trying to get help with in another thread.)I started with a fully charged good battery, but after hours of trying to get this thing back into verizon by flashing it with VRZ_E815_01.1E.0R_PRIii09574_MONSTER_01.shx , i believe i'm outa juice, well the battery is.So I plugged it in the charger, it's still in the bootloader mode and on! Now.It's been about 4 hrs, but the phone still turns off after displaying 'hello moto' for 1 second(when charger is unplugged), which make it impossible to try fixing the flashing problem.
QUESTION:
How do i know that/if the battery is charging while in the bootloader state?.. or is this phone turning it self off, not a battery problem at all, but has something to do with the failed flashing... a dead phone?
DON'T USE MAGNETIC PHONE CASES if you want your compass to stay working.I have searched for and read thru lots of posts about people with compass problems in their Razr but no one mentions if they have or did have a phone case with a magnetic close flap.My compass had been working great and I use Night Sky and navigation apps all the time.I put on a leather flip case for more protection and suddenly my compass is all screwy and locked up!Even taking the case back off didn't help.I got the phone tester app and seen that all 3 axis were frozen so I took the magnet from the offending phone case and floated it up to and away from the phone from all directions. This kinda unfroze the compass but it's still erratic even after calibration.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI received my shiny new 3G Xoom (MZ601) yesterday and decided to root it. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then flashed the rootboot.img file. Unfortunately on rebooting it hung at the Motorola logo. I tried a couple of other boot images, such as Tiamat 1.3.1 and ocboot but all with the same result. Obviously something is different about the European 3G Xoom which makes these US boot images fail.
I managed to "sort of" recover using one of the stock US boot images (can't remember which one!) but my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are no longer working. What I would really like to do is revert to a completely stock MZ601 image. I see that the Verizon stock images are available on motodev but no mention of MZ601.
My WiFi Xoom cannot boot due to Error "failed to boot lnx 0x0004". I use the following command to update MZ604 image, after reboot, there is red line "failed to boot lnx 0x0004". PC cannot find the device when I use fastboot command after boot in "Starting Fastboot protocolsupport".
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock

View 10 Replies View RelatedIt is possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases of Sony Ericsson Androidâ„¢ phone models from 2011 and onwards.
Please note that you may void the warranty of your phone if you unlock the boot loader. Sony Ericsson can then no longer guarantee the full functionality of your phone, and will not be responsible for any unsigned custom software being flashed to the phone after the boot loader is unlocked. Certain functions in your phone might cease to work, and performance might not be ideal. You might also damage your phone permanently. In the worst case, unlocking the boot loader will cause physical injuries or material damage, for example, due to the phone overheating.Certain content on your phone may also be inaccessible due to the removal of DRM security keys and the secure user data partition while unlocking the boot loader. Therefore, you should only unlock the boot loader of your phone if you are an advanced user with good knowledge of the technology and risks involved. We strongly recommend that standard users NOT unlock the boot loader, as it is not needed.
I am trying to unlock the boot loader of my Mini pro phone following the instructions given by Sony Ericsson on this page.
I have downloaded Android SDK 3.2 and Google USB driver as mentioned in the instruction there but when I try to connect to my phone it says there is no suitable driver. I went to Device Manager and under "other devices" there is entry for "F1Boot Fastboot" for which I'm trying to install the driver. I selected update driver software > browse my computer for driver > gave path to the usb_driver folder (C:Androidandroid-sdkextrasgoogleusb_driver) but it fails to find the necessary driver!
I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I checked the service setup of my phone to make sure that my phone is entitled for unlock of boot loader.
I have the CDMA version of the xperia play but bootloader unlocking is IMEI based. I have fastboot ready to go I just need the correct key. I can provide MEID number or anything else needed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to root my nexus 6 via mac. I have installed android file transfer.
I have the phone in boot loader mode. OEM on. USB debugging on.
I have Windows running on my mac too.
But no matter what I do, as soon as I put it in boot loader mode it isn't recognized.
I probably need to update the firmware on this phone. I checked online and there is a new update available for my BB. I am having issues with HSDC memory cards suddenly not recognized. If I update the loader, will it lock my BB?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe back replaces the (extended) battery cover and it a bit thicker and heavier but not bad at all. It fits well on the phone, no issues and the back of the phone remains flat (no uneven raised portions on the cover). The cover connects to the four charing pins on the back of the phone (under the cover) so you don't need any cables that use the usb port as on some of the third party wireless phone chargers.Setup was as simple as changing the back of the phone, powering the charging pad and laying the phone on the pad. I didn't time how long it too to charge but when my phone was down 50% it didn't seem longer than the usb charger. There is an indicator on the pad that lets you know when the phone is not charging (off or not properly placed on the pad), charging or fully charged and an audible that sounds when you place the phone correctly on the pad.
You can feel when the phone is correctly placed as if there's a magnet in the pad and phone back. The bottom of the phone overhands the pad by about 1/2 inch. I was planning to get a picture frame type holder to prop up the pad so the phone can be easily viewed on my desk. With the phone being longer than the pad, it might not work as well as I wanted but I can probably still do it in landscape mode.
i just purchased an unlocked bold 9650, originally with verizon. I am with FIDO.phone works great! but i cannot for the life of me, upgrade my software to OS 6.I have the latest device manager on my desktop and whenever i check for new updates, it says there are none. I downloaded the web version, to upload, but it will not work.
