Motorola Droid Pro :: Callers Cannot Hear / Receive Notice Of "no Service" In Areas Normally Served?
Aug 28, 2011
About a month ago my Droid Pro started acting up. I would have 5 bars and yet when I placed or took a call zero bars and the party on the other line could not hear me or had very poor connection. In addition I would receive notice of "no service" in areas normally served. At one point the system was setting to global connection on it's own. Took it to Verizon and they changed it back to CDMA. But still the same problem and on occasion i get a message of no CDMA service available. Went back to Verizon and did a factory reset, wiped out everything expect my contacts and still the same problem and now even worse. Now, when the phone rings it makes a weird Droid sounds and I still cannot be heard on the other end. Text and Internet work fine. Verizon says it is not enough of a problem to warrant a new phone, go figure.

There are two areas of my Droid 2 Global that do not work. The far left side about 1/8inch running top to bottom and directly above the Home key about 1/8 inch running top to bottom.

You know the sound the phone makes when you send an SMS? The little "boop" sound (haha). I like it because when I am texting from apps like tlert or biteSMS, it verifies that the text was sent. This is useful for me in areas where I have poor service as a verification. Why do I need this? Because I have often sent a text, then gone back hours later to see that it never sent. This is due to a combination of poor service in certain areas and the fact that I usually keep the ringer switch set to vibrate.
I searched a long time trying to find something that would make my phone vibrate when the message was sent, but couldn't find anything, so I went into the files and figured it myself. I did this all in iFile, because it was way easier then through SSH - but you can do either one.
1.) open iFile/SSH into your phone.
2.) Go to System>Library>PrivateFrameworks>Celestial.Framework and open the file "SystemSoundBehaviors.plist"
3.)* Scroll down to:
<key>SMSSent</key>
<dict>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOff</key>
<array/>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOn</key>
<array>
<string>Beep</string>
</array>
</dict>
You will want to change this to:
<key>SMSSent</key>
<dict>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOff</key>
<array>
<string>Vibrate</string>
</array>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOn</key>
<array>
<string>Beep</string>
</array>
</dict>
4.) Save the file, and reboot your phone.
5.) It may not work right away; it actually took a day or two to take affect on my phone, but is working now. It a nice verification system.
*
There are all other sorts of sound behaviors that you look at it in there, such as when you flip the ringer switch (whether it vibrates or not).There are multiple settings for each action. Look at the keys: Ring or Vibrate? Or ignore? Silent or Vibrate? Or ignore. Is the ringer switch on or off? Or ignore?

Every time my phone wakes up, I receive an error message that the background data is restricted.What sort of things should I be looking for to stop this from happening? Right now I have a smart action running called "Display" that enables the cellular data to run when the screen turns on. With this smart action the notification disappears within 3 seconds. Obviously a better solution would be to keep the alert from appearing at all.

I have been having intermittent problems where I can't hear callers but they can hear me. I could usually restore it by turning my phone off, taking out the memory card and sim and then restarting it.This then became constant a few days ago and I did as above but still nothing. I updated my phone to 2.1 and now I hear 1 or 2 words very very faintly but that's it! In fact it is more faint than it was originally and over the space of 30 seconds I only get 2 words max. Everything else is working fine.

Phone was working fine and then a couple of days ago I tried making a call and couldn't hear any dialling tone or when the person answered I couldn't hear them. I can hear them if I turn on the speaker. I cannot hear either if I get a call though the phone rings fine.
I've updated the software and a battery pull but no use. Starting to lose patience now.

I am having an intermittent problem where callers can't hear me for 6-10 seconds when they call. This is a t best embarrassing and frequently they hang up. As I say the problem is intermittent - sometimes the phone answers as usual. Interestingly, I can hear them talking (and usually saying 'hello? hello?) but they can't hear me and I just keep saying hello until they hang up or until the sound kicks in and we can converse.
I did a factory reset with no improvement, and have also downloaded the PC updater and updated the system with no improvement. Then, I spoke to a friend the other night who described an identical problem with his X10.

I tried the Sanity donate app and it did not accomplish what I want. About 1.5 ago I have a Pantech Duo running Windows Mobile 6 I think. Anyways it was able to announce the callers name and read my text to me aloud through the headset, not through the speakerphone. Is this even possible to do with android? This is part of the reason I dont hardly use my Moto Headset any more. Yes I could be hands free while driving but I usually have one hand on the wheel and one on my gear shifter(its an automatic with a console mounted shifter- 2003 Trailblazer to be exact) so whats the point really unless its a long covo which is unusual for me. Is this only possible with say a headset that supports A2DP? Its an H680 headset(not the frost version)

First time post and really hoping someone can help before I need to claim on insurance.My Blackberry Torch has worked great until all of a sudden this week I have been unable to hear people when they call me.They can hear me - but I simply hear no audio at all from the handset. The only way I can hear what callers are saying is if I put them on speaker phone or use headphones.I have tried hard reset, volume level checks, updating software to no avail.

Be on a call and all of the sudden the other side cannot hear anything you're saying but you can still hear them. This can happen when you first answer the phone or while you're in the middle of a call. I already got a device replacement and it's still doing the same thing. I only have this problem with 9780 and never with the 9700. I hate to have to downgrade back.

I am using Motorola Connect and the Google Chrome app to successfully send and receive messages (and I love the feature). However, when I get an incoming call on my Moto X 2014, it pops up on my phone and also a Chrome notification, when I answer via the phone, the caller cannot hear me, and I have to hang up.

I'm currently having an issue w/ my iPhone 4. For some odd reason when people call me they can't hear me but I can hear them loud & clear. I can record voice memos w/ no issues what-so-ever. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this issue. I've also tried replacing my sim card w/ a new one & that didn't work either, unless that sim card was a bad one as well.

When making or receiving a call, the caller or the person I am calling cannot hear me. If I turn on speaker, they can hear me. This is a new iPhone 4, I traded in my 1 year old iPhone 4, because it also was having this issue, & the apple store staff could not fix it.
I have tried turning on/off, plugging in ear buds and unplugging them, cause I heard that could help, & syncing the phone. Nothing has worked yet that I have tried.

This obviously isn't a huge issue because I can still receive calls, but I want to know if it's just a glitch with the service icon in my status bar or what? It happens mainly at work when i'm on at$t edge network. I can even upload and download data all while my phone says I have no service.
