Motorola Droid Bionic :: Verizon's 4G Service Is Down Again
Mar 2, 2012Just in case anyone is fighting with data connections today (3/2/12), Verizon has a 4G outage going - at least in my area. I'm in the Maryland suburbs outside DC. My service has been down for a couple of hours so far.

Nov 17, 2011The IM service is always running in applications. I have never even opened the IM application or set it up. It usually is using up between 3.1 and 3.7 MB in the memory, which isn't a big deal. It is running one process and two services. Any way to disable the IM app from constantly running in the background. I had disabled it in the Task Manager to shut off two minutes after the screen goes off but whenever the phone wakes it turns back on and seemed to make my data issues worse. I can't say for sure that adding it to the auto kill list directly affected the data connection because it may have just been another bad day for the Bionic.

Mar 1, 2012I haven't used the lapdock in over a month.Recently attempted to connect and found I am unable.When I connect the lapdock it appears to connect normally, but then flashes back to the phone.While connected, the touch pad and keyboard are not functional. I also noticed I no longer get the options I use to when connecting (specifically no productivity mode).I have tried rebooting the phone, removing battery and repowering and reconnecting, no difference at all.

Dec 24, 2012I tried searching the forums but could not find anything. When I try to uninstall an app through the market it just hangs on the uninstall page. I have the same result in the app menu on the phone itself. The only way to get the market and/or the app menu on the phone to get going again is to reboot. I tried booting into safe mode and uninstalling apps through settings (app menu) but it still just hangs on uninstalling.

I have tried a factory reset, exporting contacts to SD card and importing, importing from Outlook, removing all contacts from GMail then syncing with Outlook, and just about every other thing I could find online to do. No where do I have the option of deleting all of my contacts and starting over.

Oct 9, 2011I have caller ID blocking on my cell phone number, because, I do not want everyone I call to see my number. I have always had it set up that way. Numbers in my contact list, however, have *82 programed in front of the number so friends, etc. will know it is me calling. This works fine when I call a contact, but, when I try to text the same number, I get the error "The message must contain valid recipients and content" and am unable to send the text. If I manually enter the same number without the *82, I can send the text, but, nobody knows who it is from, because, my umber will not be revealed. Apr 1, 2012I noticed that my yahoo mail account was not showing all of my mail messages within the last day. I have verified that my mail account is working fine via pc and was able to check via the web browser on my Bionic. I removed the account and now when I go to add it back via the add accounts and selecting the "Yahoo Mail" option, I can't get passed the e-mail address password screen. It sits there for a bit with "adding your Yahoo! Mail account" and then gives me the message of "Login to the accunt failed, please try again." I am using the correct password and have been able to add this account manually, which I don't prefer since the way I am trying gives me a different icon for Yahoo. Does anyone know why this is happening?? Like I said, Yahoo Mail just started acting up yesterday and now it won't work and play well with others using the pre-defined mail setup in the "Add Accounts" area for Yahoo! Mail.

Sep 23, 2011Although my WMV formatted Videos play fine on my home computer, I had no problem transferring them to my Bionic SD Card. Rather than playing, a small blue box opens at the bottom, which says "unable to open this type of file". Confirmed that the pre-installed Player should play MP4 and WMV. I tell them about my error message, and they recommend downloading the VLC Media Player (which works great on all files on my home computer, even on AVI and FLV files). Still won't play, so they refer me to Motorola, but before I call them, I also download, the seemingly popular MoboPlayer and MX Video Player.
The Motorola second level of support tells me to convert them from WMV to WMV, although my experience with Motorola's Tech support is that I sense that due to our mother tongues, it might be my fault for not parsing my words carefully enough. Feel free to contribute your WMV (or MP4 experience) to this thread, as the last advice that the Motorola Level 2 Tech Support gave me was to go to "setting", then "privacy" and then "restore data reset".

Dec 22, 2011I have tried all possible solutions to get it to recover but have not been successful and now waiting on a replacement unit from Verizon. In the meantime I am using my old DroidX which seems so slow in comparison.The strange part is that before the last update I have never had a problem with my phone, could this BSOD be a result of the latest update.

Sep 21, 2011In the past - namely when I owned the Droid X - while in a call, I was able to press the volume up and volume keys successfully to adjust the in-call volume while I held the phone to my ear. Albeit the screen was turned off, the volume adjustment responded properly. I find now with the Bionic that I cannot adjust the volume while the phone is against my ear and that I actually have to move the phone far enough away from my face in order for the screen to turn back on and allow for the volume to be adjusted.
This causes me to miss part of the conversation, Matt can this be adressed or is there a setting I am missing?

Oct 15, 2012When accessing a contact group, the bionic will always open the last opened contact group. I worked through some settings with motorola last winter, but the problem has never corrected. I even received a new phone when the speaker jack crapped out, same issue.

Sep 20, 2011i am having problems with my bionic adding accounts under the my accounts settings area. every time i try to add my picasa, facebook, Internet, or twitter it says 'an error has occurred please try again later'. when trying to add an email account it says auto setup is not available for the provider (tried with my gmail, yahoo, hotmail, & verizon accounts). i got around that by finding the manual values to fill in for each provider account, but that's just email. i am pretty miffed on the others not working.
mostly because i would like to have picasa in my gallery and be able to share photos from gallery or after taking with camera app to picasa and/or facebook. i do not want to have the facebook for android app on my phone, so just having the account set up in blur would be sufficient. i have tried taking my timezone off the automatic setting and retrying to add picasa account, still no joy. still in my 14 day trial with the bionic and am certainly being swayed by this issue

Nov 28, 2011Does anyone know of any surefire way to transfer files to and from the Bionic to a windows 7 PC?
I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.

Nov 17, 2011Im having the same issue as a lot of other people (so i read). Mine has progressively gotten worse. My data connection shows active (sometimes it doesnt) but I cannot transfer data. After multiple restarts/battery pulls, i have data connection but NO app will transfer data except the web browser and dolphin. Even Gmail will not sync. So i can surf the web, but cant check my gmail app, pageonce, etc, etc. Wifi/bluetooth work fine. MOST of the time I can still text / make calls but not always.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset as the last time i did this, it did not change the problem and i was stuck with nothing because i had no data connection to connect to my google account with (nor wifi, i was on vacation).

However, I can't find a way to do this on the Bionic. There's no option in accounts > Gmail. I HATE having the emails strung together like they were text messages. One of the major issues is losing attachments (ex: photos) in earlier emails once additional ones have been added to the "thread."

Oct 2, 2011Have experienced this with a couple of applications (Freecaddie Pro and My Tracks) the program is suppose to store to SD card and it saves to internal memory. Spoke to the developer of Freecaddie and he checked and it is suppose to save courses to SD but Bionic saves to Internal Memory. With My Tracks even when I pick "Save to SD card" is saves it to Internal Memory. What is up with that and is there a way to correct it?I know my SD card is working because I have moved pics and music to it without a problem.

Oct 11, 2012When I go to "My Accounts" on my Droid Bionic, and then click on "Add account", I get the error message "Sorry! The application My Accounts (process com.motorola.setup) has stopped unexpectedly."
I wiped out my Bionic and then re-set everything up, and it was working fine until I added my FB account, and then removed the account. Now I can't add any new accounts at all.
