The mobile hotspot on my bionic has poor range. I can have the phone 15 feet away on the charger and only have 1 bar of signal on my laptop. Other phones I have had with this feature have had alot better range. I could go anywhere in my house and have signal. On the bionic I can only go about 15 feet away before I lose signal.

Among other things, I make extensive use of the GPS, which until recently was excellent - even post-905 it was extremely accurate, locked almost instantly, etc.Since approximately the leap second (correlation does not not necessarily imply causation, but it's not a bad first guess), GPS has been problematic - much slower locks, longer to get an accurate fix, and fewer satellites (GPS Status often shows 3 or 4 locked, when before it would show at least 8 or 9 locked)When using navigation, it used to lock within a few seconds. Now I'm often driving a mile or two before I have a lock, but once I have a lock, it's working fine. I've tried clearing the cache, re-seating the SIM, multiple power-off and power-on cycles, and verifying that I have the absolute latest AGPS data. I could try a warranty replacement, but there's no point if this is a known issue, especially given the hit-or-miss nature of Verizon's refurbished phones.

View 15 Replies View Relatedpoor quality of the pictures and video that come off the Bionic? This came up in a review at PhoneScoop.com as well. I have comparred the photos and videos taken off of the Bionic to my wife's HTC Rezound and the Rezound pictures are far superior? The Bionic produces pictures with very little contrast and performs badly in low light conditions. The Bionic also produces a white haze around the borders of pictures in some photos. See photo below. I am wondering if this is a defective camera or a problem on all bionics?

It will NOT connect to my laptop with internet access. When I put the cursor over the network icon it will say connected but it also says "Unidentified network" "No network access". If I look at the status it says

I know it is not a problem with my tablet, because when i am at home i will be connected to my home internet and i wont lose connection at all. So i am just wondering if there was a firm ware update for the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWent to tether my Bionic to my laptop this AM and realized I didn't have a USB cable with me. I called VZW to get the wireless hotspot enabled on my phone for a couple days. Check. Went to settings to turn on the Hotspot. Nothing. nada. zip. Got a message saying it was retreiving the agreement, and then got a message that said I needed to call VZW to enable the feature. But I just did that. Reboot the phone. Try again. Same thing.Call VZW back, they verify I was indeed provisioned for hotspot, and tell me to reboot the phone. Still doesn't work. Get handed off to a technician.Reboot the phone again. No go. Turn the Bionic off and pull the SIM. Re-seat the SIM, boot up the phone, still no hotspot.I'm now almost 90 minutes into trying to get my Bionic's hotspot feature to work (because I wanted to avoid a trip to buy an overpriced USB cable). Tech says we'll have to do a hard reset. I decline and tell him I'll add this feature to my list of disappointments with my Bionic. He asked if there was anything else I needed, and I said the release date for the ICS update, but of course, they couldn't help me with that.

Pandora, Tunein radio, mp3's... anything media wise it appears.bIt also appears this only happens while listening via a bluetooth device - in my case a Motorola T505.

Bionic would not accept password, so I clicked on Forgot Password to make sure I was using my correct passowrd. I was sent a temporary password. On my bionic I entered the temp pw and then entered a new pw.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings.Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). Anyone else having problems with their RAZR not disconnecting when a bluetooth device goes out of range?
From day 1 (two weekends ago), when I pair the phone to my Mercedes Benz 2008 (with 2010 bluetooth cradle to replace analog phone), and walk away the phone believes it is still connected (see status under wireless & network settings, bluetooth devices list)
This causes problems, such as when I receive calls the ear speaker is turned off and I cannot hear caller, or making calls the ear speaker is off.
When I later return to the car, the razr shows it is still paired (under bluetooth devices list) while the car says the phone is turned off. Need to power off/on to reset.
Called for support.
Verizon Tech believes that my car has a problem, the "car bluetooth is too old", can't keep supporting bluetooth devices that are 4+ years old
Motorola tech had me go to manage apps / bluetooth share / storage / clear data. Did not resolve problem. Need to try with another phone.
My only "complaint" is that whenever a call comes in or when I make a call, it always has it on the phonespeaker and not over the car dock audio connected to the radio. I have to press the speaker button to turn it off each time.way to have it default to the speaker being off?

I have been using Zumocast, but that's only a one way deal. You can stream and download files from PC onto the Bionic, but not vice versa.Also, I tried to download a 1.4 gig mp4 file but it doesn't fully download, and makes my notification area on my Bionic force close and the whole phone just wigs out and requires a reboot. So Zumocast needs to do some updates in order to support large file transfer.
Anyway, I am looking for a way to transfer files from my phone to my computer(s) wirelessly. I don't always have my USB cable around.
Im having the same issue as a lot of other people (so i read). Mine has progressively gotten worse. My data connection shows active (sometimes it doesnt) but I cannot transfer data. After multiple restarts/battery pulls, i have data connection but NO app will transfer data except the web browser and dolphin. Even Gmail will not sync. So i can surf the web, but cant check my gmail app, pageonce, etc, etc. Wifi/bluetooth work fine. MOST of the time I can still text / make calls but not always.
I am hesitant to do a factory reset as the last time i did this, it did not change the problem and i was stuck with nothing because i had no data connection to connect to my google account with (nor wifi, i was on vacation).
I can get a 4G signal rarely in home. At work and mobile I am usually 4G.I expect to be on 4G for a few years (5G anytime soon?) and was thinking of spending $$$ on a Wilson repeater to pick up 4G with a directional antenna and amplifier for home: url...I am a licensed Amateur Radio operator and the principals involved seemed sound to me.Also, does anyone know how to put the Bionic into Field Test Mode?

I've got an A953 (UK unlocked) and it upgraded to Gingerbread fine, and I can connect to the Internet on the phone.When I start Mobile Hotspot, my laptop can see the phone and connect to it (receive an IP address by DHCP). However I can't connect through the phone to the rest of the Internet.Does it have something to do with me being on T-Mobile USA? Unfortunately I'm not really able to test other options, but it would be good to know if it work successfully for others.

In the corner where the signal is, changed from edge/GPRS to GMS now it's just constantly on SOS. I've tried going into mobile network options and switching network and then switching back and it's saying that my mobile network is out of range? I've also tried doing a battery pull and doing a security wipe which just deleted all my contacts I've been in contact with my mobile network and they told me try the SIM in another phone, and that worked so it's definitely a problem with the phone rather than the network.

Home net is a std Verizon issued router (only thing custom is the net name, channel, and crypto key) and the Bionic is able to get on the wifi no problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGmail is my email. I long ago disabled the "conversation" (threaded) view of messages in Gmail iitself on the web, and in settings on any device. However, I can't find a way to do this on the Bionic. There's no option in accounts > Gmail. I HATE having the emails strung together like they were text messages. One of the major issues is losing attachments (ex: photos) in earlier emails once additional ones have been added to the "thread."
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave experienced this with a couple of applications (Freecaddie Pro and My Tracks) the program is suppose to store to SD card and it saves to internal memory. Spoke to the developer of Freecaddie and he checked and it is suppose to save courses to SD but Bionic saves to Internal Memory. With My Tracks even when I pick "Save to SD card" is saves it to Internal Memory. What is up with that and is there a way to correct it?I know my SD card is working because I have moved pics and music to it without a problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am now on my 3rd droid 4, all have had issues with the ear speaker (speaker used when making calls and holding handset to ear) The 1st phone was the worst but I also had it for the longest. All phones started out perfectly clear but progressed into poor speaker sound. If you switch it to the hands free speaker during a call the persons voice sounds perfect but the ear speaker produces a static scratchy noise whenever someone is talking to you.I absolutely love the phone except for these speaker issues, I just want the thing to work correctly. Again, it is the speaker, not a connection issue seeing as the hands free works fine, I have also tried changing the bands in the program menu (##program)Im to the point where I am about ready to jump ship and give the razor maxx a try but I would really rather keep the 4 as I WANT a physical qwerty.Looking for answers, others that are experiencing the same problems, and possibly hearing that motorola is aware of the issue and has corrected it hopefully stating which serial #'s may have new better equiptment (speakers)
