May 19, 2011Why I cannot do Factory Reset. I enter: Privacy/Factory Reset press Reset and nothing happens. I tried remove battery and put it back and still nothing.

Motorola Defy :: Will Not Start - Will Not Factory Reset
Feb 7, 2012My Defy kept restarting approximately 5 seconds after starting up. Without being able to access any settings I tried a factory reset via the on button / volume down button. I'm not sure how long this should have taken but decided after a few hours of nothing more than a yellow dot moving across the screen that it wasn't working. Button presses / screen taps had no affect so I pulled the battery.On powering it up it now either gets as far as the Moto Blur or T-Mobile logos but just hangs there. Further attempts to factory reset give the same result as the first time.I've noticed two lines of text when accessing the reset screen which read 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command' and 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/caller'. I think these were present at the first attempt but I'm not totally sure of this.In cast it's relevant the phone shipped with Eclair, I changed this to Froyo using the Motorola software upgrade some months ago, it had been working fine since apart from not saving photos (?).

Oct 7, 2011I had to restore my factory settings to change my default google account on my moto xprt, but after that I couldn't get updates from news (rss feed) and social networking, as well as facebook mails (in universal inbox) and fb contacts. no news, no mail, no contacts! I have tried the following:
- Turn device on/off, remove the battery
- Erase facebook account and reenter it
- Remove motoblur app from my fb account, then reenter the fb account
- Turn sync social networking via WiFi only on/off
- Leave the phone on battery maximum performance to sync through the night
- Clear data from social networking and news app (in app manager)
- Restore factory settings again
- Tried updating it via gsm data only
Nothing seems to work, but it worked fine before the factory reset. I couldn't find motoblur registration option. is that common for android phones? When I factory reset I don't get that motoblur registration window!

Nov 15, 2014This is very odd.. But after a factory reset Nokia Camera no longer shows the option to enable live images in the settings. Not sure how this could've happened. I came across the app "Lumia Camera Classic" which does allow me to enable this option.

Jul 23, 2014I have AT+T HTC One - stock; I was happily using it too much let the power run down till it died and after that cannot restart. I can reach the Hard Reset Loader screen. I have already tried factory reset.
I see a kind of battery picture pop up for a while with two green arrows making a circle and a little down arrow in the middle - in the center of screen.
A while later the screen goes black and nothing happens. The SIM card is still inside. I have tried 2-3 times - battery shows to be >80% as of now.

Motorola Defy :: Forgotten Or Lost The Screen Lock Option
Oct 5, 2011I often switch the feature to have to slide the screen lock to use the phone on or off. It's currently off and I can't find the menu item to turn it on again! Where was it again? I've got a standard Motorola Defy 2.2.By the way - the only reason I'm always switching it around is because when I'm expecting a lot of calls/texts, I turn it on. Because when I get a text and the phone's in my pocket, I often press something when taking it out as getting a text/call unlocks the screen.For the rest of the time - I find it irritating to have to press the power button and then slide the screen - why both? It's not like it's hard to accidentally press the power button on the Defy!In a way - that "in pocket detection" option sounds ideal but I found it kept cutting in when I didn't want it to.Maybe I can do something with that "tasker" app so that when I press the power button, it unlocks the screen.where is that screen lock option again?

Jul 12, 2012For some reason, my phone just did a factory reset. I wasn't using it, just had it in my pocket with headset plugged in. Pulled out the headset from the jack and was going to make a call. When the screen turned on there was the Android icon with what looked like a green "electron cloud" type symbol animated in its open "belly". After a few minutes with that on the display, tried to shut the phone off, it wouldn't power down so I did the volume down and power button. When it came back, the phone was cleared asking me to select a language.
