I am unable to remap my Direct Connect button to an app or something like the calendar. When I go into menu>settings>applications>quick launch, I have no option to remap the side button, all I see are shortcuts for the letters a-z.
View 12 RepliesWhen I receive a Direct Connect my Admiral does not make a chirp noise as my traditional nextel phones have made. All it does is vibrate and make the low beep, the tone that lets you know the other person is done talking. This is very inconvenient as now every time my phone vibrates I have to look and make sure I didn't get a direct connect. I have searched through the phone to find a setting to change but have had no success so far.
View 4 Replies View RelatedExcited to finally replace my old I860 iden phone with a new smartphone, I got the Admiral. Maybe I am missing something, but the direct connect feature is basically unusable when there is any background noise. There has to be a way to make this louder, If I play music on the phone, its plenty loud, if I use the speaker phone for a normal call, again plenty loud, but if I try to direct connect someone, I have to hold the phone up to my ear and then I can barely hear them when driving in a truck. I love the phone, and unless I am missing a setting, the volume makes it unusable for me.

I called CS yesterday and the girl I spoke with did not seem to understand what I was asking and transfered me to someone who was not available.Anyway, on the plan that we just switched to, Sprint is charging $5 per line for Unlimited Direct Connect, but my online account also shows "Direct Connect on Sprint" for a $0 fee per line. If I am only planning to DC my husband, who is on Sprint with me, do I have to have Unlimited DC on my line for $5? I'm not going to be DCing anyone on the nextel/iDEN network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSoftware upgrade fixed many problems I was having with the Admiral. One thing seemed to change, though. Whenever I call a contact via Direct Connect, a menu will come up and ask "Remember this choice". If you check off the menu and then press the Direct Connect number that you wish to be associated with that contact, it doesn't remember the number that you selected. The next time you pull up that same contact to DC, you get the same menu, asking "Remember this choice".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI wake up this morning and had a friend chirp me on the PTT (he still has iden) and I push the button to chirp him back and nothing. He chirps me back to see if I am still there, I try again and its like I don't have PTT at all. I ended up calling him back to finish the conversation. I try making a PTT convo an it doesn't even show the "call log" that I set it up to show when I push the button. I reboot the phone and 'POOF' its back. I do understand its a new phone and might still have bugs but come next month I am gonna need that part of the phone for business and if that doesn't work then I have to switch back to 8350i...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had a strange, but very frustrating behavior on my phone twice recently. My alarm will go off, but it will not make any sound whatsoever. I have the app alarm clock extreme and the regular android alarm. During this time, neither will make any sound. The default alarm will vibrate, but alarm clock extreme will not - although it should. A soft reset will fix the problem. Additionally, my ringtones will not make any sound when someone is calling. I'm trying to remember how the behavior was this morning, but I feel like pressing the volume up and down keys while the alarm was going off first snoozed my alarm, but then beeped to let me know the volume level.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Admiral freezes/lags when dialing/redialing and the Touchscreen is unresponsive. Its really bad on missed calls. I can hit the green dial icon 20 times in a row and nothing happens. Finally wait for about 30-60 seconds and it will dial.
I routinely reboot. Not running alot of apps. Latest firmware. I've also noticed the browser is slow to render webpages no matter how fast the connection is.

View 15 Replies View RelatedJust got a Sprint Admiral, paired my bluetooth with it easily enough (Blueant T1), but at random, the phone will disconnect and reconnect bluetooth.I have actually watched the bluetooth icon go dark, then light back up so I know it is not an issue with the earpiece itself. It is becoming very annoying, and talking to others who have this phone, they have reported the same issue with other bluetooth earpieces.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my email on my new Admiral and I've run into a bit of a snag. I'm able to receive emails just fine, but it appears I'm having no such luck trying to send even a test message. Given I have no problems doing so in Outlook, Thunderbird, and on my old Blackberry, I have to believe there is something android related that's giving me complications. I'm using the standard android email application (No Hotmail/Yahoo/Gmail) for an IMAP email account (No Enterprise/Corporate Sync/etc.).
I have entered the server info, port info, username info identical to what appears on my outlook/thunderbird server settings to no avail. If I was given some sort of error message when the email is not sent I would post it, but the only thing that happens is I get a notification on the top bar saying "Email not sent". If I try to access the message to get insight on an error, I am simply redirected to the email message in the outbox with no explanation.
I just recently bought the Motorola MOTOACTV because I have the Motorola Admiral, and they are supposed to be able to work together. However Google Play states that the Motorola Admiral and the MOTOACTV app are not compatible. And while the latest release states that the MOTOACTV app should work with all Android 2.1 and higher, the Motorola rep that I called (level two, ID 5545142) states that the app will only work with the RAZR, which is contrary to everything put out about the MOTOACTV. I'd be interested to know if this is correct.

I just updated my blackberry and I have a question. Prior to updating I used the PTT key just to turn on the backlight. Now it brings up my DC contacts. I can't find a setting to change it back. Is there a setting? (searched the forums didn't see anyone else complaining, other boards had people asking about it with no answers)
The only other problem I've seen with the update is last night I was on the phone with someone on a cell phone. The call "failed" and usually I get 3 trouble tones (like oldschool trouble tone) except the tone kept going until I shut the phone off.
lets say i have my direct connect speaker on, whenever im not using it and i get a call, i can hear the "beep-beep" sound loud (it also vibrates because of the settings i have), but when i have the speaker off, i cant hear it because the sound is also set to private (speaker off), how can i make it to get the voice of the person private but at the same time make the "beep-beep" sound loud (like in speaker on)?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've looked in some older threads and had no luck, thus I come to you with a brand spanking new thread! I have a Blackberry 8350i with Nextel Direct Connect through Sprint/Nextel.
Where I work, we are regularly using the direct connect to keep in touch with coworkers. As a result, a couple of issues have come up (and from what I've seen, I'm not alone)... I'm wondering if there are any solutions for these:
1] Direct Send My Info - Shows up every time someone tries to contact me via DC. Most of our employees still use the motorola i335 (or older models), so it may be something they have no control over. However, given how often the direct connect is in use, it means I receive 50-100 of these messages a day that have no substance.
2] Contact Issues - It appears that there is some disconnect between contacts and the direct connect feature. I have contacts stored (via Contacts App) with their direct connect numbers included. However, when they come up as having called on DC, their names do not come up. In addition, it seems that, on several occasions, my direct connect list outright vanishes. This is only mildly frustrating when 100 contacts are stored. It seems as though the DC contacts are not connected to the BB contacts.
Anyone know how to set the direct connect to auto default another direct connect phone? sorry I am so new to blackberry period, I have had all moto phones since it started. I am not likeing it too much cause the battery for life for me sucks, I still have time to return my 8350i which I am seriously thinking on doing.
I am a truck driver and I find it very hard to use compared to my I880 which I have my dc connect automatically to my dispatch, battery life barely lasts me the day. I am told the battery life on blackberry's are suppose to be great.Is there settings I should need to tweek on it?
My past phones would give me a alert while on the phone. not this one ?

Cannot locate it.Also, after I perfomed the update, all of the preloaded and my downloaded ring tones are not recognized. States ""invalid ring tone selected, please make another selection" for every one.
Now my phone won't ring, or alert for SMS or email, or direct connect.Video camera also appears not to be functioning. Getting an error message of "Error Playing. device media processor is busy." when nothing else is running.
I'm using Nova Launcher. Whenever I exit my applications with the home button, it directs me to the homescreen selection/dial (not sure what the appropriate name is). . :/
