Moto X (2014) :: How To Set Priority Notifications
Jan 10, 2015
So I understand Priority Notifications is the new 'silent' mode but I can't get it working so that it has the same functionality as older Android versions.
I've set all priority notifications (events / calls / messages) off and choose to turn on priority notifications indefinitely but each day it reverts back to 'all' so I have to remember to turn it on every day.
Also, when in an app (e.g WhatsApp) and a new message comes through, it still makes a noise even though it's in priority notifications mode!
So I've recently noticed, I wont receive any push notifications (tapatalk, email, etc) until im on a wifi connection. I receive texts, calls. All data restrictions are off, so that's not the issue.
I have a moto x that I've had for about a year. I'm on AT&T. Last weekend it upgraded to lollipop.
Now I'm having an issue where it won't stop chiming at every little thing. I've turned off all notifications. But when I do anything with it, it chimes with a dink dink sound. I wake it up, it dinks. I'm sitting here typing this message, and it dinks. The only app that I like to notifications for is my SMS app handsent. It has a different chime for when I get a message. So now I get 2 chimes when I get a message; the desired chime, and the new one.
I've cleared all my cache, I've rebooted, I've tried everything.
How priority notifications work with Lollipop. I thought I u destroy this but I'm having serious issues. Even if I don't have messages selected during priority, when text messages come through from non-favorites it still comes through with sound. I can't get this fixed. Attached is my current settings.
I have my priority mode set as shown below, yet I still get texts from everyone. I use Google Messenger. I want only texts and calls from starred contacts.
Pre-Lollipop, I was able to have a different ringtone for each contact. This was set in the 'Contacts' app. I can't seem to see how to do this in Lollipop.
2014 Moto X running Lollipop won't auto rotate. Done all the usual stuff (reboot, reflash, cycle the auto rotate button). The problem is system wide and not application specific. Found some posts out on the web about the same problem but all the threads were dead ends.
I have a Moto X 2nd gen, which I got yesterday, and I got the upgrade to lollipop. It seems like my heads up display only works when I have a call, but when I get a text, I don't get the heads up display, just a notification which forces me to leave the app I'm in to reply, rather than just replying right there with the heads up. I was wondering why this was happening?
I am not getting sound notification for SMS on hangout or any other app I have tried. This just started recently. I have checked settings and can't find why.
Is there any meaning to the LED turning green behind the top front speaker? It has turned green a few times only when my phone was plugged into a car charger and it froze up?
How to use WiFi direct . I tried a no. Of times in settings and connected it with other devices for transfer purposes but when I go to gallery and select a file to send there is no option of sending files through WiFi direct.
I can't be the only one! Does your phone go off (active moto voice) randomly throughout the day, when you don't say your launch phrase? I sometimes I am in my car listening to music or out and about talking to other people when randomly moto voice activates itself. Sometimes I replay a song to see it it happens again and it doesn't. The worst part is, my phrase is "powers activate."
I've seen the star appear a handful of times since I got my X back in November. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint anything that I was doing at the time when the star appeared, why it was there.
If I go into hangouts and sign out, next time I go back in it just automatically signs me straight back in. So basically anybody can read my messages because hangouts will just automatically log me in. How the hell do you stop it from automatically signing you in? Can't find anything in settings and I've tried going into apps and deleting the hangouts cache and hangouts data. But it still signs me straight back in. It won't even let me delete the app either.
I received the new update today and have noticed that my phone vibrates when I receive a new text. It only happens for SMS. I have checked the individual setting for SMS and Hangouts and vibrate is turned off.
After upgrading to 5.1 lollipop my Moto x 2014 is showing some problems like screen blinking on the lock screen and few others. I think that reinstalling the software will fix it because when I upgraded last time from WiFi, I did it in parts. May that caused these issues. How to reinstall this.
Experienced problems with gmail syncing? Emails sync immediately with my nexus 5 and nexus 7, but I need to manually refresh the gmail app on my Moto X to get emails.
32GB model . How much space is actually on it? I currently own a Moto X 2nd Gen 16GB but I find the lack of memory on the 16GB to be a deal breaker for me.
I see that, for certain phones, Google Now has an "always on" option that allows you to activate it even when the screen is off, similar to Moto Voice. This option, however, doesn't seem to be enabled by default for the Moto X (the option doesn't even appear). It would seem a foregone conclusion though that this option could work for the Moto X.
So my Moto X (2014) has been a little slow lately. I decided that I'd try and clear the cache for the first time seeing as how I've encountered that recommendation several times here on the site. I've never done it, even after upgrading to 5.0.
Today I tried it and it just got stuck on "Formatting /cache..." for about 10 minutes before I decided just to reboot and try again. I've cleared cache on several other devices before and it's usually very very quick. After a reboot, same thing with the exception of these error messages:
I gave up and just booted into the OS. The phone is working ok but I don't think my cache is cleared. I have a 32GB Pure Edition. No root or custom ROMs or anything.
