I will be setting up my new Icon this evening. I will need to transfer music and a few text files. Will I be able to plug the Icon into my computer and transfer the the directories that contain my music and text files.

I do not want to use a cloud service or anything just my computer. they seem to transfer fine to my older laptop running windows vista, but using win7 only the first 127kb of the file transfer over. I even tried transferring my pics over to my win7 computer to back them up and they all appeared grayed out. but I transferred my pics to my windows vista computer and they were fine, so it seems to be a win7 issue. I do not understand what it could be. but I really want to transfer my stuff to my win7 desktop computer and not my old win vista laptop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am happy to report success in copying music files to my LG enV3 (VX9200)! I have now loaded 2000 music files onto a 16Gb Micro SD card and gotten the phone to properly read <title>, <artist>, <track>, <album>, and <genre> for all of these files. Unfortunately, this was only after much trial, error, pain, and suffering.Here's what I have deduced about how the enV 3 wants to see music files organized:
1. To avoid silly mistakes, do use the phone to format your Micro SD card.
2. But to save time and achieve reliable transfers, move your music onto the formatted card using a USB card reader, plugged directly into your computer. Putting the phone into USB Mass Transfer mode, or trying to use the 'Sync' routine, is slow at best and ends up in failure more times than not.
3. Music files go into the "my_music" folder on the card.
4. Within "my_music", what works well is the following directory structure: my_ music /<artist>/<album> /<track>_ <title>But you have to follow some special rules:
5. The enV 3 doesn't seem to like like spaces or special characters in directory or file names, and I think it wants only one period (the one before the .mp3 extension). Special characters include the 'usual suspects': . ^ $ | ? * + [ ] ( ) { } /
6. The enV 3 doesn't seem to like directories or file names to be longer than 32 characters
7. Finally, to have album art displayed, it wants to see the file "AlbumArt.jpg" in each <album> folder.
I may be wrong about some of the rules -- but I can report that when I followed the rules, things worked as they never had before.My guess is that other Verizon LG phones work the same way. (You'd think that Verizon or LG would document this somewhere, but NO!)
Now -- you'd better believe I wasn't going to manually edit the directories and filenames to meet the enV 3's picky requirements -- not for 2000 files!Instead, I worked with the freeware program Mp3tag (available here) and wrote an Mp3tag script (available here) to do the dirty work.
Step 1 was to 'clone' my music files by copying my entire music library -- all of the mp3 files, which had been organized by iTunes -- into a new directory which I labeled 'Music_Backup'.
Step 2 was to read this cloned library into Mp3tag.
Step 3 was to run my Mp3tag script, which parsed/renamed/moved all the music files under a new directory on my computer (called 'Ready-For-LG-Phone')
Step 4 was to copy this new directory structure onto the Micro SD card
From there I popped the card into the phone, and at long last it has become a usable music player.(The one thing I haven't figured out is how to get playlists into the phone.)To use this process, you're going to have to get familiar with Mp3tag, or come up with a way using the tagger of your choice to meet the requirements I've listed above.But I can tell you that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Is this possible on the N900? I was trying to do it yesterday and couldn't see how to do it either from within the file manager or the media player, not a huge problem but if there's an easy work around/solution it would be good to know.

However, I already had a folder called "music" in my OneDrive root folder (i.e. OneDriveMusic). When I open my Xbox Music app on my Icon, it doesn't see the folder and doesn't see the music that I already have there. So how do I get it to work. It's working fine on my SP3.
I checked my Xbox account and it shows I'm signed in.
It started with the windows phone app not responding to my phone. But when I looked into windows explorer, my Icon was there but it was empty. I have no access to the pictures on my phone. Neither can I copy any files into it. So Denim has done something to my phone's USB function. I switched computers already and its the same problem. I have hard reset my Icon already twice with the same result.

I have an SD card installed that appears to be working properly.In windows explorer if I want to copy music to either the main music folder on the phone or the music folder on the SD card I get the following error:The phone is unlocked with a PIN so it should be able to write to the phone but it doesn't. I am using the USB C cable that came with the phone.
I can create a folder in the music folder, but I cannot copy a file into the newly created folder.If I try to copy a file into the Saved Pictures folder it works, but if I try copying into the camera roll folder I get the same error.I have had a Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020 before this an I have never had this issue.

Some files just say "track #" on the phone rather then the name of the song. On my computer I have them shown as song title, but obviously the phone picked up something different. Can the title "track #" be changed to the "actual title" and, if so, how?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust took the leap from IPhone to the Nokia Lumia Icon despite all the criticism from friends and family who are avid IPhone users. I was a little unsure at first and nervous but when I opened that thing up it was amazing. So about two hours into playing with it I wanted to try my hand at putting music on it. So I plugged it into my computer, nothing, I read everything online about how to do it, and so I kept trying the computer and still nothing. Ehhh I'll figure it out later. I go to charge it at night, nothing. So to make a longer story a little shorter, I took it back to Verizon to get a new one not even 24 hours after I got it. Now I'm super nervous about having an Icon, but so far this is day 3 and I'm loving it. I have all my music on it but I wanted to know if there was anyway to back up the music I have to my computer or is that just something I need to use SkyDrive for?

I have not got it running with sim on my carrier yet, but just after setting it up and exploring everything......I am missing the always there voice to text ability in the keyboard that my Moto G and Nexus 7 tablet have.
Though I do get the voice icon with a few app's keyboard....I am wondering if there is an add on for the stock keyboard for the Icon and Denim? I really miss the vastly implemented voice to text on my other android devices.
I just purchased a new Nokia Lumia Icon as an upgrade for my very well used HTC Trophy. I was able to use the 'Transfer My Data' app to move my contacts over, but the app was only able to copy my oldest 500 text messages over.
Is there any other way to transfer all text messages over, or for the 'Transfer My Data' app to transfer the newest 500 rather than the oldest 500? I'm on Verizon if that makes any difference.
I just got my new Lumina 950 (I loved the Nokia 1020 so much I had to stay with Windows) but I cannot change the itty bitty font size on the home screen icons. I slid the text size bar all the way to 450%, which enlarged the right screen, but didn't change my home screen as much. I don't want to start wearing glasses just because of this phone, and I don't want to give up my windows phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started with an intermittent text receiving issue a couple of days ago. Text will work fine, then they stop. After the that the only way to get them working again is a reboot. Called VZW, they ran tests on their side, etc. I'm thinking this is on the phone side.
This morning, the text app is giving me the "resuming" msg. and also started crashing. Also some other apps are crashing like looking at pictures.
Seems like a hard reset is needed here? I'm out of town, won't be back for 2 weeks. Need the phone to work, so if I hard reset, will I be in a need of a wifi to get the phone operational again?
I stream a ton through blue tooth to my vehicle (Jeep wrangler via Uconnect). I get bad skipping periodically. To explain a song will be playing and I notices there is a "skip" in the song and as time goes on the skipping gets worse, the song fast forwards a second. Mostly happens on the Nokia + app, but occasionally happens on pandora.
I tried head pones and I didn't notice it, but to be fair I only did it for one or two songs. I do not know if it is a BT issue or if it is something to do with the storage. I turned off driving mode, turned it back on.... Also, music occasionally stops when I get a text message or an email. Not all the time, just maybe 50% of the time? I have to pause the stream/song and hit play again for the music to continue. I had no issues with my GNEX (went through several....POS phone....)
I have a MacBook Air running Lion and an iPhone 4s with latest OS. I'm planning a trip to an area where I won't have access to the interenet but should have some cell coverage (my plan is with AT&T). I'd like to use my MacBook Air to create and edit documents, send them to my iPhone and then use the iPhone to email them over the cellular network.Is there any way to do this? I know I can create my own WiFi network using the MacBook but don't know of a way to use it to transfer files to the iPhone.

I'm migrating from an iPhone 4 (iOS 6) to the Icon and tried without much success to transfer text messages to my new phone. I was able to transfer contacts successfully... and the Text Message option does appear when I pair my iPhone, but is says "0 Found," quite the contrary from what is actually on the phone. Since it seems like the transfer app wants to work, any trick to make it happen.

Whilst copying it always stops and cancels, saying there's an error and files cannot be copied. and its as though it autorun's the phone again. The autorun menu pops back up. I am getting frustrated because everytime i'm backing up, it does this. It is often with the bigger files or copying many files at once?

The problem is I can't write to the SD card. i want to be able to copy/paste stuff from my 6P to this external SD card.
I saw this thread about Total Commander which has promise but I still can't copy/paste from one drive to another.
Ideally I just want the SD card to show up in a program like es file explorer or root explorer so it acts like the phone has an SD card.
I think this has been happening ever since the first release of 8.1. Basically if the phone sleeps while a messaging conversation is open, when I wake and unlock the phone, there will often be random gibberish in the compose field. So if I want to send a message, I first have to erase the gibberish.
idk, it's just weird and annoying and I can't figure out what's causing it. My best guess is that it has something to do with typing in the pin code to unlock the phone... which I just realized I should try and test with and without having to type in the pin.

Ok so everytime I move files over from my internal storage to my sd card on my galaxy s5 they become corruped. This is my 3rd memory card I have purchased so it's not that. I am even using an official samsung 64gb micro sd card uhs-1 class 10. When the video clips are saved on the device they play fine. So I copied them over to my sd card using the my files folder on the phone and "moved" them and "copied" them over. At first the files play fine but then when I go back later to play them some of them pop up as unable to play video and are corrupted. I googled the issue and I'm not the only one having this problem but I haven't found a resolution either.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of pictures and videos that I'm trying to transfer to this S5 and it's just giving me errors whatever way I try. I've tried moving all of them from my pc to the phone through usb and it will transfer some of them and then just stop partially through like it's frozen. I've tried sending them straight to the microsd card in the phone, and also tried transferring them to the internal storage and both methods had the same result. Then I tried instead to compress all the files into a .rar and then transfer but that method hasn't worked either.
The loading bar will appear as usual and when it gets almost completed it gives an error saying something along the lines of "cannot copy file because device has been disconnected or stopped responding". I used to be able to transfer files to this phone all the time until just yesterday so what can be causing this problem. This is the same phone, and pc that I've been using for a while now, the only thing different is now there's a different sims card and microsd card in the phone, but I don't figure that has anything to do with the connection problem it seems to be having?
