My employer has just upgraded my phone from Blackberry Bold to an iPhone. Now, I want to transfer all my pictures and files from my old BB to the Iphone, however I am being thwarted because the BB has a security policy enforced which is encrypting all the files, so when I try to copy them over using a USB cable all I get is .REM files.
I have recently upgraded my Pearl 3G 9100 from OS5 to OS6, and now I can't seem to decrypt my encrypted files for use on my computer. Under OS5, if I plugged the phone into the computer and engaged media transport mode, all the files that I copied onto the phone would be automatically encrypted and all the files that I copied off the phone would be automatically decrypted. I would also be given the option to have video files converted into a form the phone could play, Under OS6, when I connect the phone to the computer I get two options for data transfer, USB Drive and Media Sync, but neither of these modes seems to automatically decrypt files that I copy from my phone to my computer. All of the files that I have tried to copy off my phone under either mode are unviewable on the computer. Is there something I'm missing? If I can't find a way to accomplish the same automatic en/decryption and media conversion that was possible under OS5's media transport mode, under OS6 then I will have to downgrade back to OS5 again.
one day, my friend formatted his blackberry smartphone device, but after finished format, the important files in the media card accidentally encrypted to .rem.The main problem that the device had been formated, so the solutions did not give any effect.how to restore the encrypted .rem files to their original files, if the device had already got format?
Been waiting for the encrypted filesystem support so that the Pro would meet requirements for corporate email since I got my Pro in Dec. Upgraded to 3.8.7 when it came out, and turned on device and SD encryption. (OK, the oddities came out a questions. But these are more rhetorical - not really needing an answer)Why per-file encryption and not device encryption? Why leave old files or those copied from PC unencrypted, and only encrypt new files created on the phone?Given the mix of encrypted and unencrypted files, why no method for seeing their state or converting to/from encryption? Why encrypt files but retain the original filename, so you can't tell by looking at a file in the filesystem whether it has been encrypted or not?Seems like a pretty marginal half-a$%ed encryption implementation. How do I access a decrypted copy of the files from the PC USB interface? USB Mass Storage mode mounts the sd card with a drive letter, and lets me see the files, but in their encrypted form. It basically mounts the SD card as a 'dumb' usb drive. (If you view a '.txt' file, you see the encrypted binary)
USB PC Mode makes the droid look like a music player to the PC - you see a 'droid' device which has media syncing and such. I believe that this show the unencrypted view of the files, since it is being interpreted and exported through the OS (wow, that was a horrible explanation). BUT, PC Mode only appears to show certain media file types (mp3, jpeg, etc) and their associated directories, so most of the directories and files are totally inaccessible. (even renaming junk.xls to junk.jpeg and putting it in the 'downloads' directory does not seem to work).Dropbox, or email, or some other indirect solution is not acceptable, since the whole idea of encryption is to keep my unencrypted files out of the porous cloud. Plus, it would be annoying and awkward.
Does the Droid use a standard encryption algorithm like AES/256, and can we get/find/see the encryption key on the phone, such that I could use USB Mass Storage mode and a PC-side decrypter with that key to see the file?Alternatively, is there a way to make USB PC Mode show other files types and directories? Hypothesize it could be a rooted phone and I am totally comfortable poking around the linux underpinnings of the phone.
I am using Gingerbread's encryption feature. I took a bunch of photos on vacation, went to transfer them to my computer via USB cable, and was dismayed to find they came across as "unknown files". They had the correct name and jpg extension, but I couldn't view the photos. This is only true of photos I have taken since encrypting the device. tried disabling the encryption feature, and doing it again, with the same result. What am I doing wrong? How can I view my own files, while still using encryption? Also, where is the encryption feature documentation located?
All of the sudden all my encrypted files have stopped working on my BB all those pictures with RIM extension stopped working all of a sudden. What should I do now, the problem is not in my memory card.
I copied 7zip encrypted files to my external SD card using my laptop and then encrypted the SD card with the Razr M's FIPS compliant encryption engine and now I'm unable to open the 7zip encrypted files. I keep getting "Cannot open file as an archive" error, no mater what program I'm using.
I have a MacBook Air running Lion and an iPhone 4s with latest OS. I'm planning a trip to an area where I won't have access to the interenet but should have some cell coverage (my plan is with AT&T). I'd like to use my MacBook Air to create and edit documents, send them to my iPhone and then use the iPhone to email them over the cellular network. Is there any way to do this? I know I can create my own WiFi network using the MacBook but don't know of a way to use it to transfer files to the iPhone.
Info: iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1, MacBook Air running Lion
Error transferring files from pc to blackberry using my usb cable. Whilst copying it always stops and cancels, saying there's an error and files cannot be copied. and its as though it autorun's the phone again. The autorun menu pops back up. I am getting frustrated because everytime i'm backing up, it does this. It is often with the bigger files or copying many files at once?
I am trying to transfer my .mp3 files to my computer running win7 just to have my music backed up. I do not want to use a cloud service or anything just my computer. they seem to transfer fine to my older laptop running windows vista, but using win7 only the first 127kb of the file transfer over. I even tried transferring my pics over to my win7 computer to back them up and they all appeared grayed out. but I transferred my pics to my windows vista computer and they were fine, so it seems to be a win7 issue. I do not understand what it could be. but I really want to transfer my stuff to my win7 desktop computer and not my old win vista laptop.

Drag-and-drop or copy-paste actions from the DCIM folder to the PC will crash Explorer very reliably : I get a standard 'Windows Explorere has stopped working' message with a restart option. The error details are these :
Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX64 Application Name: explorer.exe Application Version: 6.1.7601.17567 Application Timestamp: 4d672ee4 Fault Module Name: wzshlx64.dll
Ok so everytime I move files over from my internal storage to my sd card on my galaxy s5 they become corruped. This is my 3rd memory card I have purchased so it's not that. I am even using an official samsung 64gb micro sd card uhs-1 class 10. When the video clips are saved on the device they play fine. So I copied them over to my sd card using the my files folder on the phone and "moved" them and "copied" them over. At first the files play fine but then when I go back later to play them some of them pop up as unable to play video and are corrupted. I googled the issue and I'm not the only one having this problem but I haven't found a resolution either.
I have a bunch of pictures and videos that I'm trying to transfer to this S5 and it's just giving me errors whatever way I try. I've tried moving all of them from my pc to the phone through usb and it will transfer some of them and then just stop partially through like it's frozen. I've tried sending them straight to the microsd card in the phone, and also tried transferring them to the internal storage and both methods had the same result. Then I tried instead to compress all the files into a .rar and then transfer but that method hasn't worked either.
The loading bar will appear as usual and when it gets almost completed it gives an error saying something along the lines of "cannot copy file because device has been disconnected or stopped responding". I used to be able to transfer files to this phone all the time until just yesterday so what can be causing this problem. This is the same phone, and pc that I've been using for a while now, the only thing different is now there's a different sims card and microsd card in the phone, but I don't figure that has anything to do with the connection problem it seems to be having?
I am happy to report success in copying music files to my LG enV3 (VX9200)! I have now loaded 2000 music files onto a 16Gb Micro SD card and gotten the phone to properly read <title>, <artist>, <track>, <album>, and <genre> for all of these files. Unfortunately, this was only after much trial, error, pain, and suffering. Here's what I have deduced about how the enV 3 wants to see music files organized:
1. To avoid silly mistakes, do use the phone to format your Micro SD card.
2. But to save time and achieve reliable transfers, move your music onto the formatted card using a USB card reader, plugged directly into your computer. Putting the phone into USB Mass Transfer mode, or trying to use the 'Sync' routine, is slow at best and ends up in failure more times than not.
3. Music files go into the "my_music" folder on the card.
4. Within "my_music", what works well is the following directory structure: my_ music /<artist>/<album> /<track>_ <title>But you have to follow some special rules:
5. The enV 3 doesn't seem to like like spaces or special characters in directory or file names, and I think it wants only one period (the one before the .mp3 extension). Special characters include the 'usual suspects': . ^ $ | ? * + [ ] ( ) { } /
6. The enV 3 doesn't seem to like directories or file names to be longer than 32 characters
7. Finally, to have album art displayed, it wants to see the file "AlbumArt.jpg" in each <album> folder.
I may be wrong about some of the rules -- but I can report that when I followed the rules, things worked as they never had before. My guess is that other Verizon LG phones work the same way. (You'd think that Verizon or LG would document this somewhere, but NO!)
Now -- you'd better believe I wasn't going to manually edit the directories and filenames to meet the enV 3's picky requirements -- not for 2000 files!Instead, I worked with the freeware program Mp3tag (available here) and wrote an Mp3tag script (available here) to do the dirty work. Step 1 was to 'clone' my music files by copying my entire music library -- all of the mp3 files, which had been organized by iTunes -- into a new directory which I labeled 'Music_Backup'. Step 2 was to read this cloned library into Mp3tag. Step 3 was to run my Mp3tag script, which parsed/renamed/moved all the music files under a new directory on my computer (called 'Ready-For-LG-Phone') Step 4 was to copy this new directory structure onto the Micro SD card
From there I popped the card into the phone, and at long last it has become a usable music player.(The one thing I haven't figured out is how to get playlists into the phone.)To use this process, you're going to have to get familiar with Mp3tag, or come up with a way using the tagger of your choice to meet the requirements I've listed above. But I can tell you that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Best wishes and good luck!
Is there any way of transfering files to the phone thru bluetooth. What program do i need. I can connect to the phone with bluetooth but can't do anything else.
I am using Office Suite Pro, great program. I am having a problem transferring back onto my Mac the Word files. They transfer ok but they do not open and show as possible corrupt files.
Is motocast a option? I see it will allow access to your PC files from your phone....but i want a true transfer from phone to PC not access from PC to phone.
I forgot my password to my blackberry and it was security wiped, however before the last attempt I removed my sd card. I have now put my sd card back in and it is asking me for an encryption password. So basically asking for the password that I forgot. Is there any way I can access the sd card as it has very important pictures on there?
Is this possible on the N900? I was trying to do it yesterday and couldn't see how to do it either from within the file manager or the media player, not a huge problem but if there's an easy work around/solution it would be good to know.
Any tips / shortcuts on how to transfer all my calendar /contacts / music / files etc from my old 9700 to my shiny new 9900? Also changing provider to have two sim cards (until Monday).
