Lumia 1520 :: File Transfer Slow (videos And Music)
May 1, 2015
I'm trying to transfer videos and music to and from my 1520.
I plug the phone into the USB cable, the phone software launches, select explorer, navigate to my sd card, wait for it to refresh, goto the camera folder and wait forever for thumbnails to draw. When I start to scroll through all the photos and videos, I barely get to the videos I want to transfer on to my pc.
Most of the time I give up and upload them to onedrive and download them, which is just stupid way to transfer files.
I recently upgraded from a Lumia 920 to a Lumia 1520 SOLELY so I could take advantage of the Full HD support, Larger screen, Radio, and MOST IMPORTANTLY; the allowance for expandable memory up to 64GB.
I purchased a Micro SDHC 64GB Class 10 card -----> and proceeded to add music to it in my phone as I did previously with my Lumia 920, through WIndows Explorer. I made the mistake of letting my eagerness get to me and attempted to transfer ALL of the music that was currently on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT N7000. To make a long story short, I've been plagued by the following problems:
Duplication: Lots of songs were duplicated or triplicated. They each played in the Music Player app but when I checked the music content of my phone using the Windows phone app, quite a few songs (mostly the duplicates and triplicates) showed up as having a 0 Byte file size.Missing Tag info
"Error Syncing" and once it got to that first Error, nothing else would sync.Windows Phone app Errors 83000006 & 80004005
Two errors which I googled but found no useful info to solve the problem. Forgot the exact numbers but they were each 8 or 10 digit numbers starting with 8000. Windows explorer File corrupted error
This error gave me the biggest hints as to what was causing the problems. Certain files (Playlist m3u, and Album art) ended up being corrupt(ed) and the introduction for the first corrupt file to SD card corrupts the entire card which now has to be formatted.SD Card Corruption
I've read that the Format SD Card option provided in Phone STorage settings, only erases headers (Because it is a rather QUICK process on the phone. Faster than Quick Format via PC.) I've done full formats through Command Prompt "format H:"
I've run chkdsk /F H: which has found numerous errors and FIXED these errors in between formats. After the errors are corrected or after formatting I can load music to the card via PC (using the SD slot) but when I insert the card back into the phone all the music shows up in the OTHER folder.
The CLOSEST that I've ever come to 'successfully' transferring music to my SD card is using Windows explorer and transferring music albums folder by folder or Multiple file by multiple file. It was a painstakingly slow process that seemed to work until I hit about 16+ GB before I got errors and had to start over.
One of the most frustrating things is that transferring the music files to my PHONE works. I even went as far as trying to transfer the music files DIRECTLY off of my Lumia 920 onto the SD card's music folder of the 1520 to no avail.
How long should it take for the Nokia Camera app to take a picture? Right now it is taking about 10 seconds from when I push the camera button to take the picture until it actually does... Using a 1520 on 8.1 beta.
With the most recent Lumia Camera update, screen rotation takes approx. 4-5 incredibly long seconds. I have deleted the app and reverted back to the Lumia Camera Classic version, which is still available for download.
I have the Adobe Reader on my 1520, WP8.1 phone. Each time I wanted to open a PDF file, it opened easily and quickly in the Adobe Reader. Recently I downloaded an app called ScanWritr Pro, and now every time I want to open a PDF, I'm asked if I want to open the file in Adobe Reader or ScanWritr. How do I associate a file type with an app? I want to make Adobe Reader the default program for opening this file type, but I don't know how to do that.
Before Denim, I could send a video as a text (or MMS) as long as it was under 30 seconds. Now, everytime I try to send a video it says "File to big to send". So how do I go back to sending videos again?
I'm running Windows 8.1 on my PC and I have Cyan and GDR1 on my Lumia 1520. How can I stream from PC to phone? Do I need any apps (for both phone and PC)?
I recently updated mu lumia 1520 to the build 10586 if the problem i have would disappear, but that wasn't the case. All videos at 60 fps on all youtube apps like mytube and tubecast, stutter. At 720p and 1080p plays fine but when enable the 720p60 or 1080p60 it starts to stutter.
Have been getting into vlogging recently and I have to say I am very impressed with what I can accomplish using the following app on my Lumia 1520:
Lumia Camera: Record the video Movie Moments: Add captions Video Tuner: Perform post production adjustments such as brightness/contrast Movie Creator Beta: Edit the movie and add transitions Video Uploader: Send my finished movie to YouTube
However one thing I would love to be able to do is add my channel branding graphics over my videos. I have PNG files that have my social media links and links to my website that I always have to add on my PC using Adobe Premiere. If I could do this on my phone then it would save me a TON of time as I could get my editing done on my commute to and from work.
Any simple app that let's you overlay a graphic such as a .png file over a video on Windows Phone? Doesn't have to be fancy, just something to get the job done.
The audio quality in videos was very impressive after Cyan update which introduced surround sound option in video settings (Nokia Camera). However the GDR1 update seems to reduce the audio to mono on my phone. Compare your videos before and after GDR1 and see if there is a change in audio quality.
I have lumia 1520 and using win 10 on it. I cant play tumblr videos. There was no problem once using win 7 on it. Since loaded win 8, 8.1 and win 10 preview I cant play?
Error after syncing music via Windows Phone for Desktop app? Why can't microsoft make it as easy as iTunes when syncing music.Out of 3000 songs only about 100 synced.
The stock music app in my 1520 is not playing any music. I've tried adding and removing then adding again the mp3 files but the app just lists the songs down and nothing happens when i click on it. My phone simply goes back to the home screen.
I have installed Nokia Trailers app and able to download trailers happily. Unfortunately i am not able to save them in videos. How to save them in videos is there any way available? As its nokia application i was thinking that it will be accessible from videos but not. Anybody can guide me how to transfer them in videos?
I am Planning to Buy Nokia Lumia 610 But Please someone tell me its real Specifications because when i see on Indiatimes Shopping Site I see that it have 720p @ 30fps Video Recording but when i see other Sites like GSMArena, PhoneArena etc. I see VGA @ 30fps and One more thing i see on Indiatime's page that it have 16M Color Screen but when i see on other sites they says it have 65K Color Screen. So, Please tell me What is its Real Specs and one more thing I see that it can't transfer file's via Bluetooth is it right and what is the use of Bluetooth If it can't transfer any file?
When trying to import pictures and videos from the S5 to Windows 8 desktop, I connect the USB and then right click "import pictures and videos" button.
However, Windows goes through all of my music first (which takes a while) before it finds my pictures and videos in order to download.
Any way to tell windows to skip searching through music files during this search? Just go straight to music or videos.
Does the Lumia 1520 stream music even if it exists on the SD card locally? It seems like the network active arrow indicator is on an awful lot when I am listening to music, even though I have the "show streaming music in my collection" setting off.
Also, I get error messages saying "Can't fetch rights. Sorry, this song may be unavailable for streaming. Please try purchasing from the store."
These are not subscription songs; I own them, they are MP3 format and not DRM protected and they are on my SD card locally.
I use the Windows Phone app to transfer songs from my Windows 7 PC to my Lumia 1520 with the 8.1 update.
I also get messages on some songs saying "Can't play. Sorry, we cannot play this song on your phone. It may be corrupted, or be an unsupported file type." so I suspect the files are corrupted in both cases and need to be resynched.
I dont find a way to transfer video files from Lumia 1020 to PC or to anywere else.
I shot video with an app named Video Camera Pro - it puts the files in some hidden forder , not in camera roll. The app says that the way to upload the files is by wi-fi and they provide a link to download a server software but its broken.
