Lumia 1520 :: Streaming Music Even If On SD Card?
Aug 13, 2014Does the Lumia 1520 stream music even if it exists on the SD card locally? It seems like the network active arrow indicator is on an awful lot when I am listening to music, even though I have the "show streaming music in my collection" setting off.
Also, I get error messages saying "Can't fetch rights. Sorry, this song may be unavailable for streaming. Please try purchasing from the store."
These are not subscription songs; I own them, they are MP3 format and not DRM protected and they are on my SD card locally.
I use the Windows Phone app to transfer songs from my Windows 7 PC to my Lumia 1520 with the 8.1 update.
I also get messages on some songs saying "Can't play. Sorry, we cannot play this song on your phone. It may be corrupted, or be an unsupported file type." so I suspect the files are corrupted in both cases and need to be resynched.

Feb 16, 2010When i login in to either Slacker or XM radio streams using my wi/fi connection it only works for about 20 -30 minutes. Then it stops playing and i have to do a battery pull. to get it to start again. Is there a setting that limits the amount of data that can be streamed using wifi? It is really annoying, considering how long a reboot takes.

Jun 3, 2015What happen to being able to stream movies or music from a networked PC with stock app like "My File"? I have a Note Pro 12.2 that can browse media files stored on a media server PC over wifi using the "My Files" app. I am aware that there are other apps in the Play Store that accomplish the same thing and probably do it better.
Just wondering if I am missing some thing or did they remove the feature in Lollipop.

Mar 12, 2014I stream a ton through blue tooth to my vehicle (Jeep wrangler via Uconnect). I get bad skipping periodically. To explain a song will be playing and I notices there is a "skip" in the song and as time goes on the skipping gets worse, the song fast forwards a second. Mostly happens on the Nokia + app, but occasionally happens on pandora.
I tried head pones and I didn't notice it, but to be fair I only did it for one or two songs. I do not know if it is a BT issue or if it is something to do with the storage. I turned off driving mode, turned it back on.... Also, music occasionally stops when I get a text message or an email. Not all the time, just maybe 50% of the time? I have to pause the stream/song and hit play again for the music to continue. I had no issues with my GNEX (went through several....POS phone....)

Sep 16, 2014The stock music app in my 1520 is not playing any music. I've tried adding and removing then adding again the mp3 files but the app just lists the songs down and nothing happens when i click on it. My phone simply goes back to the home screen.

Jun 7, 2014Nokia lumia 1520 DP8.1 connected to wifi but unable to access internet. It shows the connection as "limited"
Other fact:
1. never had this issue in wp8.0
2. all other gadgets (laptop, note, galaxy tab) do not have issue with connection and internet to the wifi router at home
3. NL1520 sometimes have internet connection when connected, but I cannot tell the pattern (I thought it was limit of connection, but it wasn't).
4. If connect my laptop to router, and then make my laptop as an internet router(use Spotify for example), NL1520 can connect to laptop's wifi and ALWAYS have internet connection (this has been my work around solution)
5. NL1520 can connect to other router in public just fine, so only my router at home.. but fact the other gadgets has no issue, I assume it is NL 1520 issue

Jul 16, 2015I have had my 1520 for about a year and I simply cannot get it to play music through Bluetooth without the sound jumping, dropping out, cracking up, etc etc. I mostly try to use it in my car (with a LG infotainment system). It's a dead loss. Making a BT connection is no problem, neither is speaking through the BT handsfree in my car - just the music playback quality.
What I have tried:
.Now running Windows 10 10166 on the phone. I was hoping that changing from Windows 8.1 might work. No luck. Incidentally, when the phone still ran Win 8.1, I tried resetting it twice (on the advice of Nokia support) - to no avail.
.I have, about 50 times, removed all Bluetooth connections then re-enabled them in my car and on the phone. No good.
.This led me to believe it was an issue with my LG car system. However, when I play music through BT with my old Android Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or my daughter's IPhone 5, it works without issue. This seems to point to a Nokia hardware issue.
.I also experimented playing music on a standalone JBL BT speaker. Same problem. Again, points to a hardware issue.

Aug 31, 2014This problem has been occurring since I have used the 1520. Never did I experienced this with my 920 before.
Anyways, music randomly stops playing and I can't seem to get it back to playing if I don't restart THE WHOLE PHONE. It's very annoying and no this is not an Xbox Music issue since I've tried MixRadio, the Hub Tile and other third party players and this is still happening. Whatever skipping of songs I do it still won't play. Songs are switching but it's stuck on the 'pause' button but it's not playing.. No sounds, time is not running. REALLY annoying.

On my phone, the music still goes on, but there's no output sound. The only way i've been able to fix it temporarily is to unplug the aux/headphone and pause the song, then replug and replay.

Nov 17, 2013I highly value the sound output of a phone and how it can drive pro headphones. So I went to ATT store and took my Sony headphones with me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamic range and quality of the sound. It is rich and satisfying. it can drive big headphone nicely. Bass was not only present but it was clean and un-clipped, punchy and full. I did not go over 27 on volume since it was very loud already.
I did not keep my 920 for this reason; 1520 is miles ahead of 920 in music sound output.

Feb 27, 2015After the denim update on my 1520 for att, the phone has started acting weird. It unlocks itself and goes into messaging by own. Sometimes its funny as to you click the unlock button and things seem to happen by own.
Other issue that i am facing is the music pause. Play music, lock the phone, keep it in the pocket n boom... it pauses... every time.

May 1, 2015I'm trying to transfer videos and music to and from my 1520.
I plug the phone into the USB cable, the phone software launches, select explorer, navigate to my sd card, wait for it to refresh, goto the camera folder and wait forever for thumbnails to draw. When I start to scroll through all the photos and videos, I barely get to the videos I want to transfer on to my pc.
Most of the time I give up and upload them to onedrive and download them, which is just stupid way to transfer files.

Dec 1, 2014I've long since gotten rid of my NAS and moved to Onedrive and Netflix and so far I'm loving 'Ze Cloud'! However one feature I'd love to see (and I'm hoping exists) is the ability to not just play music from your Onedrive folder (which some apps can already do) but have a music folder that syncs to your phone and physically downloads whatever is in that folder to your phone's music folder. At this stage my music folder is linked on all my PCs but when I want to update my phone (to play in my car when reception isn't available) I still have to physically find and connect a cable. It's not a major annoyance but it'd be far more seamless if done over the wifi etc.

Aug 1, 2014I recently upgraded from a Lumia 920 to a Lumia 1520 SOLELY so I could take advantage of the Full HD support, Larger screen, Radio, and MOST IMPORTANTLY; the allowance for expandable memory up to 64GB.
I purchased a Micro SDHC 64GB Class 10 card -----> and proceeded to add music to it in my phone as I did previously with my Lumia 920, through WIndows Explorer. I made the mistake of letting my eagerness get to me and attempted to transfer ALL of the music that was currently on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT N7000. To make a long story short, I've been plagued by the following problems:
Duplication: Lots of songs were duplicated or triplicated. They each played in the Music Player app but when I checked the music content of my phone using the Windows phone app, quite a few songs (mostly the duplicates and triplicates) showed up as having a 0 Byte file size.Missing Tag info
"Error Syncing" and once it got to that first Error, nothing else would sync.Windows Phone app Errors 83000006 & 80004005
Two errors which I googled but found no useful info to solve the problem. Forgot the exact numbers but they were each 8 or 10 digit numbers starting with 8000. Windows explorer File corrupted error
This error gave me the biggest hints as to what was causing the problems. Certain files (Playlist m3u, and Album art) ended up being corrupt(ed) and the introduction for the first corrupt file to SD card corrupts the entire card which now has to be formatted.SD Card Corruption
I've read that the Format SD Card option provided in Phone STorage settings, only erases headers (Because it is a rather QUICK process on the phone. Faster than Quick Format via PC.) I've done full formats through Command Prompt "format H:"
I've run chkdsk /F H: which has found numerous errors and FIXED these errors in between formats. After the errors are corrected or after formatting I can load music to the card via PC (using the SD slot) but when I insert the card back into the phone all the music shows up in the OTHER folder.
The CLOSEST that I've ever come to 'successfully' transferring music to my SD card is using Windows explorer and transferring music albums folder by folder or Multiple file by multiple file. It was a painstakingly slow process that seemed to work until I hit about 16+ GB before I got errors and had to start over.
One of the most frustrating things is that transferring the music files to my PHONE works. I even went as far as trying to transfer the music files DIRECTLY off of my Lumia 920 onto the SD card's music folder of the 1520 to no avail.

Android tablets and iPhones having no issues connecting. Have restarted the router, verified MAC Address. Deleted MAC from access control. Disabled all security (made it an open network) and it still will not connect.
