Eseries / Communicators :: E7 Can't Get Default Email Client To Behave Like A Pop3 Client
Mar 23, 2011I can't get the default email client to behave like a pop3 client. Apart from some small bugs, like if inbox is empty you can't get to your sent folder, I can send and receive emails properly. However, I can't find a normal pop3 setting Leave mail on server. Which means it will download all new messages from the server, and nothing else.Now it more or less behaves like a mapi client and syncs against the server and removes all messages from the inbox that I have deleted from the server. But I want to have the messages on the phone until I delete them.Any email program out there that I can use on the Nokia E7 that can be used as a normal pop3 client? Apart from this email problem I would say that Nokia E7 is the best phone I have had so far. If I only could get the Nokia E7 hardware and use N900 software it would be perfect

Feb 7, 2010I don't have a BES account but trying to think of a way to have BB sent mails show up in my Outlook Sent box. Could one setup an address as say, BBsentmail@****. com, send a BCC's to that address from the BB and set up an Outlook rule to direct all emails containing BBsent@****.com to the Sent folder? What if something is sent from Outlook? I guess one could send a BCC to himself but it would end up in the Blackberry's Inbox and not sent box. Can rules/filters be applied in Blackberry's email client (I haven't set mine up yet)?
On a similar note, if the Blackberry server pushes the email to my blackberry before Outlook has a chanse to receive it, will Outlook still download it? Does BB leave a copy on the server? Also, I still have a ton of emails on my server because Outlook is already set to leave a copy on the server. If I don't delete these, BB will download all of them, correct?

Feb 21, 2010My Voyager VX10000 had issues and I got a replacement. In Bitpim I found the MMS folder, which I can backup and transfer all of the files, but they are saved as .PDU Does anyone know of a program that I can use to open the PDU file to see what is in this PIX or FLIX message? I'll just transfer all PDU files from one phone to the other and delete the ones I don't want, but I would like to view them from the PC as well to see what is in them. Does anyone know of a program that will do this AND let me view the picture or video associated with it? I found PDUDecoder, but it doesn't show the pix/flix.

Mar 25, 2010after a firmware update at a local VZW store a year ago, my phone lost several flash files such as the World Clock, EZ Tip calculator, and even the musicplayer. Other than this major mishap, the phone seems to work fine. I have retried the same firmware update and have now tried the newer updates as well. I have also tried at two different locations. VZW says they don't know what went wrong and told me good luck.I was wondering if its possible to find and load the applications in myself using bitpim.

Jun 6, 2010I have a Samsung Caliber and purchased a Brand New in the box Plantronics Voyager Pro headset from ebay seller named rtarafa and I have had a horrible time with it.It frequently drops calls, refuses to activate the voice call feature and causes the phone to get stuck. Not sure if this seller is selling bad units or if it's just not compatible but consider yourself on notice.I find myself going back to my Motorola HS850 because it works perfectly with the Caliber.VERY disappointed as I thought this was going to be a terrific headset.

Jan 16, 2010does anyone know of a way to turn off the sound that happens immediately after a missed call? I have some idiot friends that will go out drinking and periodically call me at 1am when I have to get up at 6am for work. I also have an elderly gentleman that will call my number in the middle of the night, thinking I am his son (my number and his son's number must be very similar). I can set the ringer to "No Ring" for these people, I can turn off vmail alerts, I can turn off text alerts...but none of it matters because when one of them calls, I still wake up due to the missed call sound that happens immediately after the call. I can't just put the phone on silent because I would need to be alerted if some type of emergency would happen with my family. I could just get a landline and put the phone on silent, but I would rather not shell out the extra $$ due to a poorly thought out missed call sound on a cell phone. Really, what is the point of including a "no ring" feature for an individual person, if you can't turn off the missed call sound? In reality, what happens is the missed call sound becomes person's ring tone.Also, does the Envy Touch have this problem? I am due for a new phone in the spring and was looking at purchasing this one.

Everthing works fine.The problem is that my operator (Comviq/Tele2 in Sweden) don't support/provide BIS and for that reason I can't use the builtin email app.However, Data Network (3G), MMS, Browsing the web works just fine.Have installed LogicMail but it loses connection almost 5 times a day I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again. Also i dont really wana use 3rd party apps such as "fring" but if this is the only option, then i will. and if 3rd party apps are recommedned, could you also give me an example account to fill in, showing where i would need to put my account details etc.
Nokia :: Disappointed About Mail Client On E72
Mar 15, 2010I have to admit that I'm really disappointed about the quality of the mail client on the E72. I assumed that the E72 as a business device will cover e-mail, the most important business app, in a satisfying way which is not the case.
The datasheet states that IMAP idle is supported which as far as I can tell is not the case. Whatever settings you try to change the connection to the IMAP server is terminated after some minutes and no notification on new emails will take place.
In addition you are able to define multiple connection points with priority but you are not able to use them by the mail client in this way. You either have the possibility to set only one specific connection point or you have to select the desired on each time the device tries to connect to your mail servers.
What I expect is to specify different WLAN access points and UMTS of my provider with different priorities and the device is using whatever is available at my current location taking priorities into consideration.
It's a pain to see how easily and self-evident all these work on the iPhones of my business partners.I'm a loyal Nokia user since the early days of mobile communication but I have to admit that this time I seriously consider defecting to the dark side.

Jun 16, 2010I have N97 with up-to-date firmware. I installed NM, as per instructions on email.nokia.com through the phone browser - no problems there. When I start Email application (from Menu/Applications/Menu) it goes though email setup process which ends with successful creation of an email account in Messaging folder. Once set up is completed and Email client application is run again, it goes again to email setup and does not start nokia email client.Within the whole process, there was no option to register to Nokia Messaging account.I can receive and send emails, but through basic SMS-type client. How can I get NM client running?
