May 8, 2012A friend of mine has a 3GS, hes had it for 2 years and hasn't connected to itunes since day 1. He turned on his phone today and it came up with itunes plug in logo, he doesn't have a laptop/Pc so i said i would restore it for him, whilst installing the new update 5.1.1, at the end it said The iphone "iphone" cannot be restored. An unkown error occured (-1)
This is the 6th time i've tried to restore and its still not working.

Sep 8, 2010My iPhone 4 seems to sporadically lose its connection to my WiFi network now after the update. I'll be using it, and then suddenly notice that I'm on Edge (no 3G where I'm at currently). May 8, 2012I'm trying to update my ios from 4.1 to the newest one but each time i try to do it, I get an error message 3194, I tried to trouble shoot by turning off my virus protection as well as delete and reinstall itunes but nothing works which was suggested by the FAQ's from itunes. The last time this happened i got a replacement from apple because i was within my warenty period but now I don't have that luxury. Apr 16, 2010I agreed to give my old 1st gen iPhone to a friend of mine (as I've been on a 3G right now). I went and pulled it out of the storage shed, plugged it in, and booted it up. It came up just fine, prompting me to insert a SIM card (I had the phone unlocked).
Before giving it to him, I decided to update to the latest OS (which I had done on my 3G the week prior). So I plug it in to my MacBook, download the latest 3.1.3 update for the original iPhone through iTunes, run it through the latest version of Pwnage to get an ipsw, put the iPhone in restore mode, and update from the .ipsw.
I received an error, and the iPhone seems to have been bricked.Now, when turned on, it goes straight to DFU mode (showing a cable and the iTunes logo).When I try to update, the iPhone reboots at the "preparing iPhone" stage, and then iTunes errors out with:
"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1611)."I have tried this from my MacBook, Hackintosh (which errored out with (2006)?), and Windows 7 PC. The first machine I tried it on was the MacBook.

Aug 11, 2010Just went to update my iphone 4 (32gb) from 4.0.1 to 4.0.2 to be greeted yet again with 'update failed, unknown error' followed by iphone in recovery mode.Now, my 3GS did this on 4.0 and 4.0.1, my 4 has done this on 4.0.1 and now 4.0.2.
I dont mind, I have backups but I also have 16gb+ of audio. What is going on? is this something with my laptop or a fault with ios4 updates? Im running latest, 32 bit version of itunes on windows 7.I've tried restoring and updating twice now unsuccesfully.
