Prior to this week all my text msgs were showing the name of the person texting me, now the names are gone and only the numbers show up, even on the old msgs, what happened to my phone, is this some sort of an update or did i press something my mistake, how do i fix this.

I upgraded to iOS 8.1.1 a few days ago via iTunes. Everything was going well until tonight. I don't believe I was doing anything out of the ordinary, but directly after sending a text to another 16GB 5s, all previous messages were gone. I sent another message, and it's still in the contact thread (is that the correct term?) for that person.Â
Also, the home screen is showing 3 unread messages, and that's incorrect.Â
Steps taken:Â
Closed all open apps, held down lock button, swiped to power off, waited thirty seconds, rebotoed using lock button. Same result.Â
Restored using iTunes. Same result.Â
how I can get those messages back? Three years of messages; GONE.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Icon for text messages is not showing them. When I point to it I get "setup". The ONLY way I've been able to find my text messages is to go to "search", type in "tex" (no more because it mis directs me) then the icon with all the messages is there. I tried the BB button and do NOT get an option to move the folder. The ONLY way I've been able to find it is to use the specific search method as stated above. I've been working on the problem for 2 hours now since a friend told me via Facebook that she had sent me a text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Lumia 800 and have discovered a bug where the recipient name is wrong if contacts have very similar phone numbers. Example:
I have two contacts with the following phone numbers
Contact 1. - 0703 246 802
Contact 2. - 0705 246 802
Note that the only thing differing the contacts is 0703 from 0705.
Regardless of whom of these two I send a text message they always show as being sent to Contact 1. This includes any History as well, they are all grouped into Contact 1 regardless of to which phone number I send the text message to. This is very annoying and it makes it impossible to see who actually had the message sent to when looking back at the history. I have tried moving the numbers around to different contact categories, changing contact name and so on, but it has made no difference to the behavior.
When I delete text messages they still show at the bottom of the text message screen as dec 31, 1969, when I open it nothing is there, is there a way to get rid of them and make it stop doing that?

I have a problem when replying to text messages. Even thought I have the area code entered in the contact the message comes back that it can't be sent and shows no area code. I don't want to have to reset to factory settings.

Then someone else on my contact received the text I sent to my friend but they received it from her name. She didn't send anything to this person. For example, sometimes I get forwarded chain texts and it won't let me view them, it'll show a random block of text and that's it. Is there a way to restrict the number of text messages you can receive in a day from one person? There's someone I work with, I sent a text to them about something they did, and then I got bombarded by over 20 text messages which froze my messaging (on another phone, I just got an iPhone 4s). I can't totally end my relationship with this person, as they are good at their job. I just want to avoid another text message assault if possible.

OK out of no where my 8520 started now showing text or notifing me of texts it just shows the little text notification that I have a text.When I go to read it it's not there.I'm not using the default theme.When I switch to the default theme it throws everything off.This phone is brand new I had to get a new curve for a different reason.I'm stuck with this for 2 years.
