Apr 7, 2012My 'facetime' stopped working for some reason. I did use facetime just a day ago and didn't do changes since then. For some reason it stopped working. So, as per my wife's advice, I did 'Reset all settings'. But, for some reason after doing its thing it is asking me to 'Set Up iPhone' with these options:Set Up as New iPhone, Restore from iCloud Backup, Restore from iTunes Backup. This scared me...did I lose my media. I have tons of videos and pictures of my son. I didn't want to lose them. So, I jsut stopped proceeding.

On doing this the "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery" message appeared and asked me to restore. However I have recently been on holidays and hadn't had chance to back them up to my laptop yet and I understand that by restoring you lose all data that isn't backed up.

Dec 1, 2014I used to back up my iPhone 5 regularly. I backed up manually with iTunes several times a week, and automatically to iCloud. For some time now, my iPhone will not back up to iTunes or iCloud. Backup to iTunes died first, then backup to Cloud. When I try to back up manually, I get an error message saying "iTunes could not back up the iPhone '[my phone]" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone. Delete backup for this iPhone, then try again."Â
However, iTunes shows no backups for this phone. Under "Latest Backup" iTunes also says "Your iPhone has never been backed up to iCloud.Â
At the Apple Store they tried a few things and now say all I can do is a full system reset. Without a backup, I will not be able to restore anything.Â
All I need to restore are the photos. I can access them on my PC when I plug in the iPhone, and I have copied the photos to my PC.Â
If I do a full reset, how can I get the photos back onto the iPhone from the PC?

Jun 24, 2014I have a 4S, IOS 7.1.1. I did a factory reset, after first backing it up, and now that I am trying to sync all apps from that last backup, it says it cannot sync because this computer is no longer authorized. So I authorize the computer as it prompts me too, then it says, this computer is already authorized. I try to sync again, it still says computer not authorized. It's been a continuous circle. I have done everything from de-authorizing and re-authorizing the computer, removing the SC Info folder and restarting the computer and authorizing the computer associated with all Apple IDs, basically everything I have found on this site and everything support was telling me to do.

Jul 18, 2010I tried to restore my 3Gs. It was jailbroken on 3.1.3. The restore failed. I tried using tiny umbrella and RecBoot and it still said i could only restore and upgrade, so i decided after trying that a bunch of times to just do the manual reset from within the settings on the phone. It was on the apple logo with the spinnging thing for like an hour, and now its just stuck on the apple logo. I put it into DFU and tried exiting DFU (like i did earlier) using recboot but now it just wont leave the apple logo.

May 20, 2012My iphone dropped out of my pocket onto a carpeted wood deck floor while sitting in a lawn chair (approximately 15-18 inches). When I went to use it next, it wouldn't turn on. I tried a reset (home button and power button) and got a message to plug it into itunes for a restore.I've tried restoring it probably 25 times. I've made sure all software is up to date on my computer. I've restarted my computer about 10 times. When I try to restore it goes through all the motions and looks like it's going to work but ultimately I get an error message(I've had several different errors: 21, 2006 2001) from itunes that says it could not restore it. The only thing that shows up on my iphone screen is a graphic of a USB cord connecting to itunes.

Jun 17, 2012i have used iTunes to restore my iPhone to factory settings as a new iPhone, no backup involved. So, i have plugged in my iPhone to the laptop, i have used the RESTORE button in iTunes and the process started smooth. At the end, the iTunes told me that my iPhone will restart, and it did. After the restart, of course, the configuration of my iPhone was needed. iTunes told me not to unplug my iPhone and to wait until the restart its over. And i did. When iTunes was reconnecting my device, it told me that my SIM has a PIN CODE and i need to enter it so i can proceed with configuration. So i did this step also, i have used my PIN on the device, on my iPHONE the configuration STARTED but iTunes told me that it cannot reconnect with my iPhone and that i should retry later. So i didnt used iTunes to configure, instead i did the configuration directly from the phone.
1. Why didnt iTunes reconnect with my iPhone after i entered PIN?
2. Does it matter if it didnt reconnect, so this way i was forced to do the configuration directly from my iPhone and not in iTunes like it supposed to be done after a restore made in iTunes?

Sep 10, 2014So used the find my my iPhone app on my ipad to erase the data on my iPhone 4s. so my phone showed the apple logo then a loading bar. When it was complete it showed a loading circle, kinda like the buffering thing on YouTube. And now it's stuck in a loop. I can restart my phone and the data is not erased but after 30 secs it does the loading thing again and stays in a loop. But then I put it in Dfu mode and tried to restore it but iTunes says I don't have permission to download the 7.1.2 firmware.

Mar 14, 2012From browsing the Internet I see a lot of people trying to bypass the iPhone passcode lock. I have a similar but I think unique situation. I had a passcode set on my phone. I couldnt sleep two nights ago and vaguely remember playing with my phone settings. The next morning I went to use my phone and my passcode wouldnt work. With a sinking feeling I remember seeing passcode settings.
Needless to say I entered codes until I got the Connect to Itunes prompt.
Thinking iTune stored multiple backups, I connected my phone and made a backup not realizing I just erased the one from the prior week. So now I can connect to iTunes, tell it to restore, get the Cannot Restore theres a Passcode message, disconnect the cable, reconnect the cable, it syncs for a few seconds, then have access to the Passcode screen for another 10 tries until it locks again and I have to repeat this.
I dont want to reset and lose my data. In iTunes I can see my apps, music and movies. Is there a way iTunes can reset the passcode? I dont want to do the reset/restore for two reasons: 1) everthing I've read says I lose app data if I do that and 2) since I backed up after locking does that restore the forgotten passcode too so I end up in the same boat?
