I was wondering if you you pre-order the phone through Apple and have it shipped to your home, is the box already opened? I'm assuming they have to open the box and activate the phone via iTunes before shipping it out.The reason I ask is that I love Apple's packaging and I kinda wanted to open the box myself when it arrived and be the first to hold it

View 24 Replies View RelatedAll pre-orders for iPhone are being shipped by Apple. However both ATT and Apple are fulfilling and taking the orders. They do not ship to ATT first then ATT re-ships to end user. The only reason ATT gives you that "based on available stock" crapola is because they are not in control of the actual shipping and thus do not have the actual visibility into stock as apple.Thus if you get an order confirmation from either site, you are just as likely to get it on the 24th. Same shipping method. Time of day is simply dependent on the FedEx route.

But when I checked my order status my white bumper (ordered two days after the iPhone on a seperate order) had shipped and has tracking info but the iPhone isn't even prepared for shipping. Also they haven't charged me for the bumper.

Ive heard that to home there may be activation issues and its better to be in store for troubleshooting but in store on launch day may be packed and I may have to wait I've heard that they have 2 different lines for walk ins and pre-orders is this true? If I send to store can I pick up anytime that day? How does apple ship their orders UPS.FedEx.Etc.Just want to get all the facts for both options if possible. This is my first time pre-ordering and just want to be prepared and make the right decision.

Now it will not ring my Phone or my Messages or my Errands unless I have the home page open.
This is bad, because I miss my calls, messages and appointments this way.Â
I don't know if the following has anything to do with it:Â I also have a defective Home button.
It works occasionally, so I usually use the top button on the device to turn it on and a soft button to get to the home page from anywhere.

Just an FYI for anyone still wondering on these ship times. My original order, placed the day they announced it, said it would not ship until the end of August. I just got an e-mail from Apple stating my order shipped, and will be delivered by August 3rd. Cool news, but I probably won't even use the thing as I don't appear to have any reception issues, and really like the look of the naked phone. The only real reason I'm thinking of using it, is to help protect the back a bit when setting it down on certain surfaces.

I am currently with Verizon, but I want the new iPhone.I want to pre-order through Apple online and pick it up at the nearest apple store. Also if I order it like that, does the online Apple store run your credit then, or do they just sell you the iPhone for 199.00 and then you take it to At&t for them to run a check and set it up? I would imagine Apple store would run credit check right then but I'm not sure.
Last year I bought the 3gs at a walk in Apple store. I remember they said I had a problem with At&t I needed to fix first, so I went to At&t, fixed problem, went back to Apple store they sold me the 3gs but could not port my number. Somehow gave me a completely new number, said I had to go back to At&t store to fix it. Went there, At&t sent me back to Apple store and these stores were not even close to each other! Finally got it resolved though. Anyway, I hope I don't have a problem like that again.
I haven't seen this particular scenario discussed, so I finally decided I would ask.I of course dealt with the fiasco that was June 15. I eventually was given the ability to make a reservation, and although I wanted it shipped, I figured that was better than nothing. A few hours later I was able to get an order successfully placed. Both of these were put on the same number and same apple ID.
The original plan was to give the 3G to my wife (although she was available for upgrade), but we have since decided that it makes more sense to get a new 4 for her and sell the 3G (which is why I have not cancelled the reserve). There are 2 tricky parts to that - the apple ID it is reserved for and the number are mine (will activating the i4 that arrives tomorrow affect this) and I am the 2nd line (authorized retail user) on the family plan under her name (different last names). Is there any chance that I would be able to pick up the iphone from Apple on the 24th, or will she have to be present as well? I could go at any time, but she would not be able to get there before about 7pm.
I just preordered an iphone4 on apple's website and got an email verification, but it doesnt show up under my apple account order history. Does anyone have the same issue? I tried calling apple but of course they aren't taking any calls because of the craziness going on. I just want to make sure it went through and it's gonna be shipped to me and not some other random person.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAnyone else a bit annoyed that if you made a reservation to get the IPhone 4 on opening day, partly so you could be the first anywhere to get it, you are now getting it 1 day later than others who aren't anywhere near an Apple store and/or chose mail order? An Apple customer service representative just informed me that today, they were informed that there is a limit of only one iPhone for online order per account, no matter what the eligibility of your various AT&T lines are. I ordered each of my iP4's separately, although they're under the same family plan. He said, "It wasn't announced and we, or at least I, was just informed about this today, but you can only order 1 iPhone online. We've actually had a lot of people calling about order cancellations." I specifically asked him why this was the case if multiple numbers on a family plan are eligible for an upgrade, but he was unable to answer. He stated that we would have to purchase our second iPhone 4 in store and that everyone who ordered more than one iPhone will have all but one of their orders cancelled.I've ordered 2 iP4's. One has been shipped, and the other has, "Not yet Shipped." The rep looked up my order for the phone that hasn't been shipped yet and said that there is a hold on it because we're only allowed to order one iPhone 4 online. So, if what this rep said is true, how can so many people claim that both of their orders have been shipped? Why is Apple requiring my date of birth in order to download free apps to my iPhone?Apparently this is a recent change in their policy.Who came up with this stupid idea?Obviously Apple just wants to uee my DOB for marketing purposes (or even worse to sell it to other companies).If I would have known that Apple would require my personal information I would have gotten an Android phone instead.
