IPhone :: ITunes Only Opens About 50% Of The Time When Connect
Aug 8, 2010
When I connect my iPhone to my computer, iTunes only SOMETIMES opens up. I would say it's less than half the time. I know the computer is seeing the iPhone because the "disk drive" box that pops up (that shows the photo directory) ALWAYS opens and I see it in device manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes numerous times and it didn't help. It's a Windows 7 64bit PC. The phone is jailbroken but it did the same thing before the JB.
Running OS X Lion (10.7.3) on new iMac. Not sure what changed recently but now, when I plug in my iPhone, it does not sync with iTunes, nor does it open iPhoto to import photos. In fact, it doesn't recognize that the iPhone is plugged in at all, but the phone does charge of course.
I already ran through these steps on the Apple site a couple of times [URL]
Info: iPhone 4S, Mac OS X (10.7.3), iPhoto, iTunes
Recently an application requested me to download "NBA game time" to use an additional feature. I opted out of downloading it. But I have noticed that since then 3 out of 5 times I unlock my phone it unlocks to the NBA game time app page in the play store. I now don't remember which app suggested this download. So I assume it was the sports center app but can't find anything that would keep triggering this issue. I even download the app and deleted to see if it would stop but to no success...

I tried updating my 4s to 5.1 but it told me there was an error, after that my phone only showed that i should connect to itunes but it isn't showing up on there. Ive tried hard booting it but the same screen keeps appearing.
i restored my iphone4 to factory settings because it was running slow and some apps werent working. My phone is now stuck in repair mode and is continually rebooting itself. I know the usual solution would be to restore via itunes but itunes will not allow me to do anything as i get the error "itunes cannot find disk"

My iphone4s does not turn on,when I connect to power ,it shows the message "connect to itunes" but when I connect to iTunes,my pc does not detect my phone,so iTunes does not detect my iPhone.
My daughter dropped my wifes iphone in the bath and it will now only power up when plugged into the mains. When plugged in it cannot find the sim and according to the local apple store the wifi antenna is also broken. We are not bothered about the phone it is the 1500 photos and videos of our girls which we don't want to lose. The phone hasn't been backed up recently and she is not registered with icloud so that is out the window. So, I thought that if the phone could be powered by the mains and somehow connected to my mac at the same time I could perhaps get the photos synced.
It worth pointing out that the USB doesn't turn the phone on when connected to the mac. Is there such a cable in existence which has two usb leads from the iphone dock connector? I just cant believe that the photos and videos cannot be accessed and saved by a company that always tells us they are cutting edge and ahead of the rest of the market, especially as the phone traded in will get, repaired, wiped and sold on as a refurbed phone, if they can do that they can get us our files off.
I have a time capsule connected to a BT Infinity Hub and I have disabled wifi on the hub and set up a private network on the time capsule. My daughters laptop, ipad and my ipad can connect to the network but 2 x iphone 4 and 1 x iphone 4s cannot. They can see the network, they get the password prompt but when connecting they get the error message unable to join the network.
Was using Airport Extreme and having no problem connecting iPhone 4S and Ipad2 to the WiFi. Now added the new 3TB Time Capsule as the main router and can no longer get devises to connect.
Info:Time Capsule 802.11n (4th Gen), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
How can I force iTunes to make a new time-stamped bacukp which it won`t replace with a next one? I would like to backup my iPhone as it is and erase some stuff from it now but also I want to be able to get it back in the future.
After upgrading to ios5.1 my phone takes a very long time trying to connect to my email servers, check for new mail, and to update email status. After deleting emails, the Mailboxes window often takes a very long time updating status to reflect the emails as read.
This process used take no time at all, but now simply connecting to the servers after selecting the Mail icon can take 30+ seconds. Also, when it indicates the email boxes as updated, the spinning clock icon at the top status bar is still going.
I am thinking of buying a pebble watch,i'd like to know if it will be possible to have the watch and my handsfree in the car connected both simultaneously via Bluetooth?
After spending the multiple hours required to simply restore my iPhone from a backup, I ejected the phone from iTunes and unlocked the phone with the slider, at which time I was asked whether I would like to set up the iPhone as a new phone or restore it from a backup (cloud or computer-located). I found it odd that I would be asked this question following completion of a restoration from a backup, but I went ahead and told the iPhone I would like it to do what it had already just done, at which time the display told me "connect to iTunes". After connecting to iTunes, my music, app configuration and preferences were visible in iTunes, and I could play music directly from the iPhone. I could also make changes and sync them to the iPhone.
However, the iPhone itself displayed the "connect to iTunes" message throughout, and when I ejected the phone from iTunes this remained. Turning on and off the phone produced no different result. I've started the restore again from scratch now, this time going to the phone and running through the wifi/restore choice options before choosing "restore from backup" in iTunes itself (this is not something that is indicated as required by iTunes or the iPhone at this stage). So I've got a couple hours to burn before I find out if that was the magic combination. Also, open letter to Apple: I don't mean to be unkind, but every single experience I've had trying to back up or restore my iPhone has been an exercise in frustration resulting from the process simply not working as it is described and as it should work. Get your house in order.
i just got a brand new iphone 4s, and this is the first time I've ever connected it to my computer. i plugged it into my computer (mac), and it started charging. my computer automatically brought up itunes and iphoto, and iphoto recognized it, but itunes did not. i clicked on my finder but it didn't list my iphone there either.
I have tried everything I can think of checked blogs, reset,re-entered payment info, changed password, checked conncetions and my 4s iphone will not connect to itunes when I try to update and/or download in the app store. Music has not been a problem.
I have installed iTunes version 10.6.1.7. The operation system of my notebook is Windows XP Professional service pack 2. I have an IPhone 4 Iiso 5.0 version. And I connect to pc it shows an unknown error -42408.
