Jun 30, 2010Since there is no other method of communicating with RIM about strategy, here goes. CEO Jim Basillie should consider the following product enhancements immediately.
1) Implement a feature in the BlackBerry Desktop Software (BB DS) that allows a Notebook/Netbook/Tablet to be used as a supersized BB user interface. The BB roller ball should act as a pointing device for the Notebook/Netbook/Tablet (without disabling the other native pointing devices).
2) Enable tethering for the IP modem function via WiFi between the Notebook/Netbook/Tablet and the BB (not just USB cable or Bluetooth).
3) Ensure that the Citrix Receiver product performs well in three modes:
Running on the BBRunning on the BB but using the BB DS supersized BB user interfaceRunning on the Notebook/Netbook/Tablet with the BB in IP Modem mode4) Ensure that the BB touch models can act as a mouse for the Citrix Receiver (just like the iPhone/iPad combination).
5) Provide a new operating mode/indicator (LED) that is visible to airline attendants that indicates that the cellular radio has been turned off so that the BB can be used in-flight while retaining Bluetooth and/or WiFi
6) Do NOT invest in implementing a companion tablet/viewer/netbook. Let others beat their brains out in those commodity markets. Focus upon software fees if possible.

Feb 8, 2012Since updating to 4.55.97 on my 8GB it doesn't seem to Auto-Resume after an Auto-Pause. This worked before, but on my run today it Auto-Paused at two stop lights when I stopped, but after starting running again it wouldn't resume on its own and I had to press Start to get it going again

Apr 8, 2012i got an 4s for my mom on early january. the phone was ok until end of march, the phone keep auto shutting down and have to get hard reset to on (sometimes hard reset not working, and have to plug to pc sync with itunes to restore). after got this auto off problem, i called the carier company, they asked me to update ios 5.1, but problem still. i read some threads here and online, and understand that if got panic.plist have to get replacement.however, after i restore (N times), sometimes panic.plist not show up (but the phone still will auto off). just because i'm signing plan with malaysia's mobile carier, i couldn't get replacement on the spot, and some asked me to wait till they call, some even told me to leave the phone to them about month to get replacement.

When doing this, will it also auto update iOS to the newest version (4.0.2) without asking? Mar 15, 2012I won't bother repeating the problems so many are having after their iPhones and iPads automatically upgraded to 5.1, then could not get past the failed wireless activation attempts. Here is what I did and it worked. This was after two day of trying far more complicated solutions that did not work.
I plugged my iPhone into my Mac and launched iTunes. I logged onto iCloud.com, within Safari, and selected Find My iPhone. When it showed the location of my phone, I clicked on the blue arrow and chose Remote Wipe. When that was done and the phone restarted, I clicked option-click-restore and located the 5.1 .ipsw file and restored the phone. I probably could have selected just the restore button, but then I'd have to run through all the upgrading. I was then able to restore from my most recent backup and it worked!
If this sounds odd, just remember the one step that gets you back in control, so that you can use iTunes to fix the phone, is to do a Remote Wipe from withing Find My iPhone.

Mar 24, 2012When I bought my first iPhone (4) I never knew the auto brightness actually works straight away when you walk from a bright area to a darker one, or vice versa. I had an issue with the home button and later my Phone provider swapped a new one for me. This replacement iPhone 4's auto Brightness actually dimmed in lower light areas noticably and in real time. It was really handy and the way it should work.
I recently upgraded to iPhone 4S, and noticed that the auto brightness doesnt change. I checked with my wife's iPhone 4S too and its the same problem. So, I want to know, does it actually change like the miraculous replacement iPhone 4 I received or is auto brightness a "meh" function that I shouldn't expect it to change. The reason I am asking is because I find in darker rooms, the iPhone is way too bright and I have to keep changing the brightness manually.
Everytime I do this I always see the Auto Brightness funtion on and its starting to bug me that it doesn't work like my old iPhone 4 did. Can someone explain if Auto brightness actually work?

May 3, 2012She doesn't want to be prompted or asked for the iTunes password for every single update. She doesn't have that many apps and finds the little red prompt very annoying. She has unlimited data so that's not a concern. I can understand typing in your password to BUY an app, but to have to enter it for every iTunes transaction is really annoying. I have a Galaxy Nexus and can set it up to not give me update prompts. Is there a similar option for the iPhone?
