Everything I can find says to hold the power/lock screen button + the home button together, along with a combination of plugging it into the computer/ wall, etc. Unfortunately my power button stopped working ages ago (another common problem it seems), so that method of restarting my phone is out. Aside from the power button issue the phone is in pristine condition, the LCI's are normal, no scratches or cracks. I'm not in a place where I can easily obtain another phone and need it for work purposes,

It is at full battery because I just finished charging it. I have called my phone from home phone, it is not responding on iphone but I can hear ringing from home phone and it went into voicemail after a while. My iphone is frozen. It is frozen during updating to the new software but disconnected from computer by accident. Right now it is not doing anything it is just a black screen.

Jan 17, 2016My power button my my HTC One M7 stopped working. Unfortunately, it is currently powered off. So, even though it has a 100% charge, I can't turn it on b/c that requires that I press down the power button. Here are some of the things I've tried from what I've been able to read online:
1. Starting HTC One M7 in recovery mode: Unfortunately, in order to start an HTC One M7 in recovery mode requires holding down the down volume button + the power button. Without the power button working, this solution won't work to get me started.
2. installing adb and fastboot: I'm running Mac OS X 10.10.5 on a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 MBP (retina, mid 2012) machine and have homebrew installed. I issued brew install android-platform-tools. I then changed my $PATH to include the downloaded adb and fastboot programs.
Once I had that set up, I tried to connect to my device through the USB cable. Unfortunately, I don't believe I had the developer mode turned on that allowed USB mounting (MTP). The phone is running Android 5.0.x. So, when I try running 'adb devices' in terminal, I get the response that there are no devices connected. I try 'adb reboot' but with no devices detected, i get, 'error: device not found.'
I tried using diskutil list to see if there were a way to detect the device as connected to the computer even if it's not mounting. But that didn't work, either.

Dec 1, 2011I've been running my Desire S for about 6 months now. Just about set up how I like it. nnoyingly it has developed a problem where after playing with any app and pressing the home screen, 9 times out of 10 I get the white background with green HTC logo, then a "Loading..." message over the home screen. When I go back to the app I was *just using*, it acts as if I've opened it for the first time and forgets where I was, what pages I was on, which album I was currently listening to etc.I've tried a few things suggested by the Internet: - Restarting the phone (of course)- Removing all widgets from home screen in case one of them has crashed- Checking I am not regularly running out of ram- Checking I am not dangerously close to running out of iternal storage- Unmounting the SD card- Un-installed any app I've added in the past month- Checking none of the app icons have become duplicated on top of each other (??? hey I was getting desperate)I have also been keeping an eye on the Services tab but to be honest, things seem to restart so often in here that it is hard to identify which one is acting out of the ordinary.
I took this into the t-Mobile shop, explained that I know they are not HTC tech support but that they might have seen the issue before and have a bit of a clue with the phones they sell, explained what I'd done above and they came back with the most unhelpful of default cop-out answers: "Software update."Latest Android version available through t-mobile is 2.3.3 which I am on.TC Sense is at v2.1oes anyone have any ideas? I would really rather sort this out without having to factory reset my phone. Firstly as I had my phone pretty much set up how I wanted it, secondly I have so many apps for which I have no idea how to reliably transfer their saved info (mostly music creation apps with their own save formats/locations) and thirdly so that I know how to resolve this when it inevitably happens again.
IPhone :: Method To Downgrade For MAC
Apr 11, 2010Eager to try the next iPhone/iPod update? If you upgraded, but can't activate the phone, you are stuck, so the logical thing to do is go back to the old firmware and wait until it's officially released, but going back is downgrading. That's where you get stuck. So here is an easy and working method to downgrade. If something doesn't work, or I'm wrong about something, please let me know. This guide is for Mac only.
Step 1) While the Phone is plugged to the computer, hold the home and power button until the phone goes off and comes back on. When it does come back on and the apple logo shows, release just the power button. The iTunes logo should soon show up. (This puts the phone into device firmware upgrade mode which allows us to communicate with it)
Step 2) Download Tools.zip attached and make sure it's in your Downloads folder. (This makes sure we know where they are so we can direct services to it)
Step 3) If it's not already unzipped, unzip it (To access the contents)
Step 4) Launch Terminal and type/paste: sudo cp ~/Downloads/Tools/libusb-0.1.4.dylib /usr/lib (This command moves a file which allows us to talk to the phone through the USB port to the appropriate location)
Step 5) Enter Your password as prompted then hit enter (This gives you permission to move the file)
Step 6) Make sure you have hit enter and gone to the next line then type/paste: ~/Downloads/Tools/./iRecovery -s (This is the tool engineered by wEsTbAeR-- and Tom3q that allows us to talk to the phone)
Step 7) Terminal should now display information about the phone and the last line should say "(Recovery) iPhone$" if it does, type/paste: setenv auto-boot true (This tells the phone to stop going into recovery mode)
Step 8) Make sure you are on the next line and type/paste: saveenv
Step 9) If all went well you should be able to boot your phone by holding the power and home button until you see the apple logo. From there on you can activate and sync.
I just came across a script AppleHack23 is distributing (Probably created). I haven't tested it, but it looks like it only sends the commands to the phone, so you can use it after Step 5. (Direct download for the script)

Jan 20, 2010I just bought a new 3GS since I'm going to sell my unlocked 3G on ebay. Yes, I was too stupid to learn about tethered jailbreak problems before I did this.The 3GS never reboots after JB! I've tried making my own ipsw with PwnageTool (Snow Leopard) and Blackra1n (Snow Leopard) and Blackra1n (Win7 x64).With Pwnage, it just is a dead brick stuck in DFU mode. With blackra1n it just has the usb-to-itunes screen. Have I uncovered a new more sinister bootloader or am I just out of it?

Sep 3, 2010As we all know, iOS4 folders function so that they display their contents as tiny little thumbnails. You can change the folder icon, BUT, it still shows the app thumbnails on top of that. What I'd like to do is have folder icons and no thumbnails, so that you can essentially get the same result as you would using the Categories app (being able to pick your own folder icon), except without the hassle of using a now-obsolete functionality. So, in essence, let's say you have an icon of a game controller/joystick. I want that to be my icon for my "games" folder. I keep the stylish icon with no thumbnails, but when I tap it, it opens up like a regular folder.
I assume that this would involve changing the way folders function within Springboard itself (not as simple as replacing a few files here and there). Have any developers made an add-on that disables folder thumbnails, or does anyone here know how one would go about doing that?

Mar 15, 2012I never thought I would drop my iphone 4 ever. I had it unknowingly on my lap, as I was getting out the car it flew in the air and landed on the back. The back of the phones glass is shattered but luckily no pieces fell off. Does anyone know of a legit back replacement I can use? I want to get a whole new backing for it with the pentalobe screw driver. I just don't know if I am getting scammed since there are so many fakes that distribute them. I was also wondering if there is a very cheap alternative to just buying a thin plastic case and placing it over the broken glass. The case would have to go over the back only since I hate extra bulk.

This is something I need to get sorted to enable me to continue trying to solve my other problem of updating my firmware that failed.I need to find an ingenious way of charging my battery other than in the phone. When I bricked my phone trying to install new firmware I also inadvertently drained my battery too and as the phone has lost the nohow of how to charge the battery I need an alternative way of doing so. I don't know of anyone that has an X10 (sad isn't it) nor a phone big enough to host my battery for charging.Hoping there's some blue peter badge wannabe's out there that can come up with something.
