View 1 RepliesMy iPhone 4 has turned off, which seems to be a common problem. Everything I can find says to hold the power/lock screen button + the home button together, along with a combination of plugging it into the computer/ wall, etc. Unfortunately my power button stopped working ages ago (another common problem it seems), so that method of restarting my phone is out. Aside from the power button issue the phone is in pristine condition, the LCI's are normal, no scratches or cracks. I'm not in a place where I can easily obtain another phone and need it for work purposes,

My buttons seemed to have stopped working properly. In order to adjust the volume using the side button, I have to shut down the phone and then restart it. It will work for a while and then stops working and I have to go thru the process again. The home button just works whenever it wants. It doesn't fix the problem when I restart the phone. I can slide my finger in a circle around the button and it still doesn't work.

I've been running my Desire S for about 6 months now. Just about set up how I like it. nnoyingly it has developed a problem where after playing with any app and pressing the home screen, 9 times out of 10 I get the white background with green HTC logo, then a "Loading..." message over the home screen. When I go back to the app I was *just using*, it acts as if I've opened it for the first time and forgets where I was, what pages I was on, which album I was currently listening to etc.I've tried a few things suggested by the Internet: - Restarting the phone (of course)- Removing all widgets from home screen in case one of them has crashed- Checking I am not regularly running out of ram- Checking I am not dangerously close to running out of iternal storage- Unmounting the SD card- Un-installed any app I've added in the past month- Checking none of the app icons have become duplicated on top of each other (??? hey I was getting desperate)I have also been keeping an eye on the Services tab but to be honest, things seem to restart so often in here that it is hard to identify which one is acting out of the ordinary.
I took this into the t-Mobile shop, explained that I know they are not HTC tech support but that they might have seen the issue before and have a bit of a clue with the phones they sell, explained what I'd done above and they came back with the most unhelpful of default cop-out answers: "Software update."Latest Android version available through t-mobile is 2.3.3 which I am on.TC Sense is at v2.1oes anyone have any ideas? I would really rather sort this out without having to factory reset my phone. Firstly as I had my phone pretty much set up how I wanted it, secondly I have so many apps for which I have no idea how to reliably transfer their saved info (mostly music creation apps with their own save formats/locations) and thirdly so that I know how to resolve this when it inevitably happens again.
My phone came up with a message asking if i wanted to update to the new software so clicked ok, it seemed to be taking ages and then suddenly went off. Now when holding down the power button and the home button it is still not working and wont restore?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhave had my iphone for almost 1 and a half years, and about 8 months ago my home button started wrecking; i would press it and it would either not open the iphone (take it off sleep mode to show lock screen) or the button would get stuck in and would start the voice control.. then about one week ago my vibrate button wasnt vibrating, even when i got a call or message or alarm... around one year ago, my camera started wrecking; like i would go into it and it would be blurry, and over the past year it has been getting worse and worse, and now i cant use my back camera at all.

View 9 Replies View RelatedA few months ago, my sleep button randomly got jammed in and I can't press it. But now the home button is all of the sudden not working. The only way I can get my phone to turn on is if I plug it in or if I get a text, call, email, or other notification. My contract just expired a few days ago.. can it be fixed or should I upgrade to the 4S? How much would that cost?
I have read that you can buy a new sleep button and install the Assistive Touch but I am worried that I will break my phone if I try to install the top button.

I bought an iPhone 3G off eBay back in August 2010, and it's been okay up until a few months ago. It started breaking at the top so I had to sellotape the lock button on, but I'm not too bothered about that.
Recently, I must've fallen asleep leaning on it and the home button stopped working (after it had started being a little faulty and not working every now and then for about 2 weeks previously), and I woke up the other day to find a crack on the screen, and a few days later, another crack. I'd already had a very small one right at the bottom.
Even more problems now, it's very difficult to get my iPhone to charge. I think I've broken something on the inside to make it charge, and I'm pretty sure it's not the charger.
The problem is, there isn't an Apple store very near me, and I'm not sure if it's under warranty as I got it off eBay, but I doubt it is. Does anyone know how much it would cost to fix it, from a shop in a market? If push comes to shove, I can go to the Apple store but it is quite a way away.

For the second time in a month, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. First, it stopped intermittently, then it stops entirely. Last time, I powered my phone off and it was fine - until today. I'm syncing now so I don't lose any data, but this time, I think I am going to reset it in iTunes to see if that helps.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I got my phone in February of 2011 so it isn't covered by AppleCare, but apparently the hardware is covered under a thing I did at Verizon. Should I just get a fresh phone, even if it is another 4 and not a 4S?
Home button not working completely. I have tried restore n set up as a new phone as well. Is there a hardware problem?

How to tell if my Iphone 4 has been really sent to service? It had a faulty home button and the local dealer told me they'll send it to Ireland for service Im from Latvia.first they called me to tell, the phone has been replaced, I got back locked Iphone and immediately asked for explanation, they said that there has been misunderstanding and they gave me wrong phone.Today I recieved back my old phone with supposedly changed home button mechanism. But I really can't tell if it is fixed, the protective film I had haven't been removed.

Just upgraded my IPhone 4 to IOS 5.1. Since then, the home button sometimes does not work. Since I've never had a problem with my phone, and no new apps were added, it looks like a software glitch to me.

My friend gave me his iPhone 3GS today (He updated to a 4S)When he first showed it to me, with him SIM still in, everything was working completely fine.Randomly after resetting, the home button stopped working.I thought after I put in my SIM, and factory reset it, it may start working (If it was a software problem)My iPhone did not pick up on any SIM being put into it at all. It also started resetting constantly, over and over. I ended up turning off the phone. When I got home, I connected it in. It said it detected the iPhone as being in "Recovery mode", so I have restored it again. It is now doing an "iPhone Software Update" which is 687MB in size (My Mum's SIM is currently in the phone while it does it) My question is, now that it is doing a software update, will this help the problem? And is there any known simple solution to the home button not working?

I was using my 3GS and the home button stopped working. So I tried to reset my phone and it froze on the apple logo. I could not reset it because the home button still did not work. I waited for the battery to run out and when it did my phone charged and as soon as it turned on it stopped charging. Basically, my phone only charges when it's off and the home button broke at the exact same time. Any help would be appreciated :)

My iphone 4's home button has been mostly unresponsive in the last 2 days. It has been pretty bad in the last month or so, but now I can't really use my phone. It's only 1.5 years old...Is there a cure? I have rebooted and updated the software,

As off yesterday my iPhone 4 home button stopped working. I could not reset (obviously) because to reset you need to hold home and power which doesn't work if home is broken. I tried turning the phone on and off several times and that had no effect. Out of nowhere it just started working again after a few hours. I upgradedd to 5.1.1 last night. It worked fine for about 24 hours. A few minutes ago it just stopped working again. I plugged it into itunes to backup and restore but it started working again. It worked for 5 minutes or so, then it worked only intermittantly for another 5 minutes and now it's broken again.

I have an iphone 4s one month ago. Sometimes when I press the home button when the phone is locked, the screen lights on for a second and after that, the screen gets off again and the phone continues locked. I have to press again the home button, so the phone show me the control to unlock it. Is this normal or this is the sign that my phone should be repaired before it gets in a worse state? Have other user observed this behavior in the 4s iphone?

Not sure where the problem lies here, with hardware or software. The home button appears to be working inconsistently. Sometimes a normal press pulls up the home screen. Sometimes, I have to really press it hard, or several times. Double click and home screen routinely don't work reliably. Is this a software issue or hardware. If so, is it repairable or covered under warranty?
