i'm using iPhone 4S, i have this problem that the wifi tab on my iPhone suddenly greyed or dim out. So i can't switch it on or off. Basically i can't use my wifi on my iPhone? how come this happen?

hi all. just today my girlfriends 3g somehow greyed out the wifi in the settings. i have tried reseting all the network settings and such but ive only got it to work once and once the phone was reset the wifi was greyed out again. the phone is jailbroken on 3.1.2 and unlocked with blackra1n on tmobile. but yeah on sbsettings for some reason the wifi is on and when i turn it off and reset the phone it turns on again but in settings the wifi is still greyed out and it says no wifi. any advice would be awesome. i have been googling it all day and trying to look all over the forums but no luck. every time everyone says just reset network settings and such but thats not the case.

And when I go to settings the WiFi tab is greyed out, saying "No Wi-Fi", I can't even click on it. I am at home, and my laptop is connected to my WiFi, so I know it's not a problem with that, it seems to be just my phone.

The Wi-fi is always greyed out for open Wifi connections at airports, hotels, etc. I did manage to get it to turn white once but that was for a WEP-protected connection where I connected manually. Are there some settings that are incorrect? (e.g. the APN username and password is blank in TCP/IP menu).

The WiFi symbol has stayed greyed out even though it says it has connected to my WiFi, home network. It is similar to what happened during the outage that happened.I have reinstalled the software (OS 5) O2 won't allow upgrade to OS6. I have deleted the WiFi connection and re installed, but still it won't go white and it is affecting my mobile data usage as my phone is using the network signal for internet rather than WiFi.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4 turned off or something when I wasn't paying attention, and so I tried to turn it on but it didn't. I've seen all these other posted questions stating to hold down both buttons or syncing it to your computer, but neither of these work for me. By this I mean that when I hold down the buttons nothing happens and when I tried to sync it to my computer my iTunes didn't even acknowledge that anything was connected. When I plugged it into my computer a red light came on above my front camera and speaker, I have never seen this ever happen nor heard of it either. It stayed on for about a minute or two and then it shut off, but then it came back on. I then tried to hold down both buttons and I watched the light, my phone didn't restart or anything but the light dimmed a couple times and it was all really weird. I know it had at least 30%, if not more, battery.

Things I have tried:Turning phone on/off, this worked for about 10 minutes then it happened again.Restarting my router, did not work.Restoring router to factory default, did not work.Forgetting network, did not work.
I made sure my mac address is not being blocked.
I have been blocking a couple of mac addresses that have the host name "unknown" and IP "unknown" on my router, however this should not be affecting it since my phone shows up as "iPhone" on the device list. No other device is connected to my WiFi.
I have a Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 Docis 3.0 modem w/ built in wifi if it helps.

So I've had my iPhone for probably about 4 months, and up until about 2 or 3 weeks ago, WiFi was working fine on it. Then, one day, I left home and came back a few hours later, and I couldn't connect to the home network. I've noticed this because I'm currently using Velis auto brightness which sets the brightness of the screen. The problem seems to be that 'dim' function before the screen sleeps is actually brightening the screen. I'm guessing system is not checking the current brightness of the screen. It would be great if this could be rectified.
