Why does my phone sometime not open apps, they flicker, and just don;t open. I tried the reset, deleted then re-installed. Works for a while, but one app I use tracks mileage and when this happens, I lose the data.

I updated the firmware of my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1 yesterday. After the update, I noticed that I have lost all of my contacts on the phone, so I plugged it back in to the computer and went with "Restore from backup", which was dated just a few hours prior to updating the firmware.
After it finished restoring, my contacts were all back but half of my apps are missing. I tried redownloading from the App Store as well as syncing from the computer, but the data (game saves, etc) are still missing. How do I get them back?

Last week I did a device software update, I am currently running OS 6.0, Bundle 2949. First of all, my Twitter and Facebook Apps were downgraded to versions from when I was still using my BB Bold. More annoyingly, I lost some languages on my device. I had Spanish, French, Italian, German, English and Dutch. Since the update I have Russian, Greek, Dutch and English (US and UK), but I cannot add or delete any of these through desktop manager.
I tried deleting and adding in the same update sequence. I tried deleting only, then I tried adding only, and every time I get an error saying the action (or update) "could not be validated due to unsatisfied dependencies." So then I tried deleting a regular app, thinking maybe there was an "unsatisfied dependency" in an app. Same error, and nothing happened. And the same again with a different app.
I was wondering if anyone can assist with this. I have an N86 running the latest v30.9 firmware. I have set the default connection in Settings > Connections > Destinations to 'Always Ask'. However, I have noticed that my phone is still connecting to the internet (3G connected icon showing on the standby screen) even when no other programs are runing (according to a long 'Menu' press). When I receive a call I get a message on screen advising that the packet data connection is on hold. 'Packet data active' shown on screen when the call ends. The log also shows the internet connection is being made and maintained often for hours on end, e.g. through the night. Although the amount of data being sent and received is relatively small, this is still a concern for the future if I'm ever roaming or on a metered tariff. Any help to resolve this is much appreciated.

I just installed iOS4 on both our 3Gs and 3G on both phones there are approx 500 high quality pic's at approx 1000 x 750 pixels size all pictures seem to have lost quality completely (on both phones) to the point that they're now useless for viewing on screen. Previously, clarity was crystal, now they're grainy and almost indistinguishable.

And then the iPhone shutdown and process the update process. I was doing this in my home with a stable Wi-Fi access. But the day after, I was received a notice about huge data usage of 218M. The only thing I can figure out is the iOS update. Is this true? If the phone update will cause such a huge data usage I will never use this this utility as my total data is only 300M per month. It should at least give a warning before launch the process or do this under the wifi environment.

I just acquired a used iPhone 2G. It has been jailbroken and unlocked, but I am not using it as a phone right now. It has been restored and registered. It is connected to wifi and safari and email works fine.
When selecting an App to download from the App Store (I've tried a couple), after pressing the green install button, the button turns into a smaller green rectangle. Press again and it turns into a blue rectangle, and nothing happens.

My daughter uses our old iphone 2g as an ipod. Recently, she has been unable to install apps that she previously had on the phone. They won't install from itunes either. I recently lost my iPhone.It was a first generation that I had managed to hold onto and keep working for years. I left it in the back of a cab and despite all my effort to relocate it, it appears it's gone for good.I had AT&T deactivate it 20 mins after I lost it. I also had the passcode feature active. AT&T has assured me that the combination of the two will pretty much render the phone a paper weight unless whoever found the phone restores it. When I restored the phone to the 'most recent' back up, I lost ALL the data on my phone after Nov 20, 2011. All my texts, all the data about my baby that I have been keeping in a baby app - basically any app info. Even my camera roll reverted back to the way it was on Nov 20. (fortunately I had saved my pics to iphoto - so nothing really lost there)
I don't understand where all the info went when I backed up RIGHT before I went to the apple store.
