What may happen if I turn Cell Network Search off on my iPhone 4s. It's under location services scroll all the way down to system services. Will I not be able make or receive calls?

I bought this iphone 5 six months ago and have a pay as you go plan with Kolbi I.C.E (a local provider.) Everything worked fine, until last week I was talking on my phone all morning, and then I shut it off to charge it and when I turned it back on I couldn't connect to the cellular network. Â
Since then, I have tried LITERALLY everything I can find on the internet to make it work again: toggling airplane mode, restart, refresh network settings, restore to factory, taking out the sim card and putting it back in again, EVERYTHING. And not for one single second have I been able to access the cellular network again. Â
I tried putting my simcard in my friend's identical iphone 5 and it worked just fine, leading me to believe the problem is with my iphone in particular-- but why would it just STOP connecting all of a sudden, for no reason???Â

It finds the network, but when i try to get my phone to register with it, it simply says the sim card does not allow it.I tryd rolling back to the old firmware/os and the phone is back to normal, and i got accses to the cell network.So i tryd updateing again ( over the air... flashed the file manuelly) still the same.

The problem i am encountering is when i change my network mode to 3G my cell is not able to connect to the network while it did a few days back. it only works on the EDGE network, i have tried using my sim card in other phones where it connects to 3G easily but in my phone it doesnt even searches for availabe 3G networks.i have also tried re-installing my operating system of the cell but the problem still persists, cant able to get what to do. Also have tried contacting the service provider but they seem to be helpless because the sim has its 3G network in other phones.

Is there a known issue with the Search Screen Keyboard not hiding itself when you leave the search screen in IOS 5.1.1? Ever since I upgraded, if I go to the search screen, then flick the screen back to the first Aps page, the keyboard stays there in the middle of the screen and I have to click the off button off and on again.

Pulled the battery on my phone today and now Browser does not have the options to seach via a search engine. Its just an address bar. Ex. If I type yahoo, it will just go to [URL] It used to show the search engines I could use. Also, in the options it would let me choose my default before, now there is nothing in the options about search engines.

I've never owned or used a smart phone or other mobile device. I need an iPhone to use as a video monitor for my DJI Quadcopter (flying camera). The quadcopter company has an app that is installed on the phone to allow remote viewing of what the camera sees and allows you to control other functions using the iPhones WiFi capability. My question is: Can I use an iPhone without subscribing to a phone plan? I have no interest in using the phone as a phone, just to run the app for using the quadcopter.
