I already use my old Iphone 4 strictly as a ipod now but I was wondering if it was possilbe to use it to text in wifi areas without any voice or data plans?I know the new ipod touches have a way to send messages but wasnt sure if I could do the same thing with my old phone.
View 5 RepliesI bought a BlackBerry Curve for $10 online through the AT&T website. I ONLY need a phone for phone calls and text messaging. When I called to activate my new SIM card they charged me for a Data Plan ($30 monthly). I learned that I could turn off the Data Usage on the phone itself so that the network does not recognize my phone as a Smartphone and incur Data usage charges. I then called AT&T back to cancel the Data Plan. This was not easy and I insisted that I was using my old Motorola Razor again; otherwise they would not reverse the Data Plan charges.
Since then, my phone has not been able to send or receive any SMS text messages. I also get no error messages whatsoever. This feature had previously worked. Now it doesn't. When I send a text message, it appears to have gone through, but my text recipient indicates otherwise. I also tried to send a text message with my mom's Nokia, but with MY SIM card in it and vise versa; and neither options worked as well.
What is going on? I have been on many forums and can't figure this out. I'm guessing that this is a carrier issue; however, because I got the Data Plan reversed and was adamant about not using a BlackBerry, I can't exactly call them to complain.
I am a company phone that has text messaging disabled. Does anyone know of any apps (free or not) that I can download to get the texting service?

I purchased music on itunes on my iphone and the songs won't show up in my music library on the phone. They are on my computer itunes library but it won't let me transfer the purchases back to my phone (which I have never had to do before). Never had this problem before this week when purchasing music on my iphone.My Itunes library on my laptop is slightly different from my Iphone library so I don't want to erase and sync the entire library.

i send about 100-150 text messages a day. And thats about all i use my phone for. i have an iPod Touch for music video, wifi, etc I live in a small town and not sure if we even have 3G but they do work. So how long would my battery last? I would like a whole 2 days but you know. And my other question is can it be charging and on vibrate only, at the same time. Make no sound but still vibrate because my phone now doesnt do that and it is really annoying

So, I have a 3GS that I bought a year ago and just loaded iOS4 when it came out. Two issues are: Phone randomly wakes up when iPod is on when I'm listening to music. It happens when it changes songs. It doesn't do it with every song but every now and then, I'll notice the lock screen light up and it shows the current song playing and everything. I thought it was because someone was trying to call me or I was getting a message but there's nothing there.
Also Yahoo! mail is having mail pushed to the phone when I have all settings for push off within the e-mail settings. Anyone have any issues like this? I really don't want to but should I just restore the phone again?

When I plug in my iPhone 6 Plus to the USB and connect as iPod, I cannot play music I've selected through my vehicles infotainment system. I have a 2013 Honda Accord. All previous versions of iOS have worked almost flawlessly in this car and my last one. However, since purchasing the iPhone 6 Plus, I have had nothing but problems with using my car as an iPod connecting to the audio system. Sometimes it just says "loading"... this flashes back and forth, but it never loads. Other times, it will load, and I can browse my music and podcasts.
However, when I select a song, it will not begin playing. I can go to the "Now Playing" section of my Music app and see that the song I had selected has been chosen, but I have to click the play button on my iPhone to make it play. I have Siri Eyes free, and it construes to work. However, Siri seem to be getting less useful all the time. This whole issue has really got me upset. I paid $1,000 for this phone. It is supposed to Just Work.
I assume it is a software issue; I wish the would get around to fixing it. I, personally, find this unacceptable. This is a core function of the phone. I don't really care about health apps... Apple Pay is cool... but they should not do a single thing that messes up the core functions of the phone. Being able to connect to my car and listen to music is why I paid Apple's ridiculous price to upgrade to 128 GB or RAM. This is like upgrading the software and not being able to make phone calls for 3 months until they finally release some random software update.

Well for some reason everytime i receive i text message from a friend or some random person, my music stops. As far as I know, on other blackberry device that i had in the past, the storm, tour, curve, the music would keep on going and I would be happy with it. I can use my BB to access the web using free wi-fi as i have been doing with my last 4 smartphones.Big mistake. i have been charged 55 us last month, for data transfer use , i ran to my planŽs assistance office ( telcel in Mexico ), and the answer i got was. you have to get a data plan from us to be able to use wi-fi ( obviuosly i stared at her , just nodding my head ).There is no point in having a device that has acces to wi fi networks , if i cant access the wi fi network without you data plan, so i got the lady to bring the tech guy. His response was...naaahhh...it will access the wi fi. but weŽll charge u anyway. you need to disable the network from the phone and only leave the wi fi option on so you can access without any other charge, but this will leave you with no phone connection.

I have a bold 9000 on Vodafone which has been unlocked. My phone provider is on O2 and I have internet access plan but not bis plan. I would like to know if I can install an O2 os on and then some way use my internet access on my O2 sim card to access the net on bold 9000?
