I have an iPhone 4 running 4.2.1. I would like to upgrade to iOS 5 but don't have access to a computer. I read something about FOTA. Does that mean I can upgrade to iOS 5 without a computer?
I have a Iphone 3g that is unlocked and jailbroken running 3.0.1. For some reason once or twice a month my phone will say it has signal but nothing can be done on the phone that has to do with the mobile network. This is why I feel as if i should upgrade. Hopefully it will solve this issue, because getting signal to come back takes, a couple hard restarts and usually syncing with my mac.
I have watched some videos online that say that i can go into cydia and download blackra1n install the source and it will unlock it but i'm pretty sure that is after you update the OS to 3.1.2. Can someone shine some light on this for me?
upgrading from 1.1.3. I want to upgrade to the new software version but then it would need to be jail broken again is this possible is it even advisable .
I am new to this and I know the phone is old but I don't see myself buying a new i phone I just want to be able to add some more applications.
I have a desktop running win xp and phone version software is 1.1.3. model number a1203
I have been using a 3GS iOS 5.1 backed up to iTunes. (some data also on iCloud)I bought a brand new 4S and it was all going so well until .. "The backup cannot be restored to this [iOS device] because the software on the [iOS device] is too old."

Looks like the iPhone was shipped with iOS 5.0 after 5.1 was available. Irritating. Really irritating. So I set the 4S up as new phone, updated to iOS 5.0 and now have a shiny new 4S iOS 5.1with no data that is merrily syncing an empty phone with iTunes and iCloud and I still have a beaten up 3GS iOS 5.1 with all my info on it.I have a backup of the old phone but I don't know how to get that onto the new phone. I've tried iTunes/summary/restore which sets of an 803MB download - that's still going but I'm thinking I may have the same problem again.
I just upgraded phones from a 3GS to a 4S on AT&T. I was using the 4S for a day before I backed up everything from my old phone to the new one. On the new phone BEFORE the backup I could use visual voicemail and siri understood me.
Now after I have backed up everything from my oldphone to the new one, visual voicemail is gone (and it's asking for a password to check voicemail, I don't know I had a password), and Siri doesn't understand the same things.
I am having a problems with my iPhone 3GS, its slow unresponsive and the some of pixels on the screen, seem to have burnt out! No doubt they will have to give me a replacement, is there any chance that they will replace it for the 4? Rather than giving me another 3GS?
I have an iphone 4 and made un upgrade to ios 5.1 yesterday, and so far that was a big mistake. My phone started to overheat terribly - when I am using or charging it, and also the battery drains way too fast and it takes ages to charge it. I have tried restoring and hard reset, but nothing changes. I have searched the forum, but most people are having problems with battery drain, not the overheating.. I don't know what could be the cause of that and what do I do to get my normal phone back!
i have just upgraded my iphone 4 to IOS 5.1 and since then no one can hear me during phone calls, i thought may be the mic went down, but it works fine during voice notes and vid recording!
I have a iphone3g and i try to upgrade but now im stuck with the code error 1015. It shows to connect to iTunes but everytime i try it shows same error.
I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 5. Now I am having trouble activating it as it's telling me that the SIM card is not supported and won't proceed with the activation process. I also tried connecting it to iTunes but got the same error message. 1. How can I restore it to its previous IOS so I can use it again? or 2. What should I do to complete the activation so I can begin using it with the new IOS?
I recently got my sister's 'old' iPhone 3GS after she upgraded to an iPhone 4. What I'd like to know is, can an iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.2.1 be upgraded to iOS 5.0? If so, how do I do this (step-by-step) without losing any of the apps she had installed on the phone <note: the iTunes on my iMac's not allowing me to transfer her apps (things she purchased) because she purchased them - I don't really want to lose them, but if I can't avoid it, then, I'll just deal with it>
On the same note, I have a friend with an iPhone 3G; he claims he used to have a 4G card in it, but inadvertently locked himself out of the PUC card and forgot the password. is his phone upgradeable from iOS 3.x.x to iOS 5.0?
We started upgrading this morning and 3+ hours later it hasn't move. The iphone is on the apple icon with a sliver of the progress bar filled and it's not moving. Itunes is frozen on the Updating iPhone Software, again with only a sliver of the progress bar moving
First, what can we do to get it moving?
Second, we are actually going away for the weekend and not sure what we can do. Can we disconnect the phone and just restore it?.
I have an iPhone 5 running IOS 7.1 and when 7.1.1 was released in April, I tried the update, and it bricked my phone. Luckily, I was able to roll back the upgrade. Now that 7.1.2 has been released, can I upgrade directly from 7.1 to 7.1.2, or do I have to first update to 7.1.1? I'm afraid the phone will just brick again.Â
I recently got the new 3gs after my 3g broke. I dont have any of the apps i bought and i dont have them saved on itunes. (i thiyght backing them up on my computer was a waste of time, stupid me.) is there aby way to get my apps back? Would it have saved in the app store? It says to buy the app on my phone but im scared if i click that then log in that it will recharge me.
The only thing I _really_ wanted in iOS4 was multitasking but that's a no-go for the 3G. Are there any other things in the new OS to make it worth my while upgrading?
Can't power off iPhone when on charger, after a couple of seconds after powering off the Apple Logo will appear and the phone will power on again. Only happened after upgrading to iOS 5.1
I decided to try to unlock my iPhone 3gs (was on Orange UK - moving to a monthly contract on 3) and so connected it to my PC (running Windows 7) - this is the first time I've ever connected it to this PC and the first time in probably 18 months that I've hooked it up to itunes on a PC at all (everything I've bought has just been via the phone). I started by backing up - that took a *very* long time (at least 12 hours, but I had to leave it all day and overnight so I can't be certain of the time). Then I unlocked the phone, as per instructions from Orange - that seems to have worked fine. Now, after prompting from itunes, I'm attempting an upgrade to iOS 5.1 (I think I was on iOS 4) - this is after transferring all my paid content to itunes. It says that it's backing up - it's been going for about 2 hours now, and it's about 5% of the way through, judging by the progress bar. Is this really going to take me as long as it looks like? Why do I need another backup if I've just carried one out? Can I cancel this (by clicking 'Stop') without bricking my phone?
Since i updated my iphone 3GS 32G from IOS 4.3.3 to IOS 5.1, the phone crash and shut down several times. To restart it, i have to plugged it. Each time, I checked the battery level, it appears at about 50% and whatever apps i use. It crashed with Photo, Tiny Tower, Blokus apps. I don't try other apps yet. I already make a complete rescue. Unfortunately, i can't downgrade to IOS 4.3.3.
I have a 3gs and I am upgrading to a 4s in a few weeks. Please can anyone offer help in transferring my current 3gs content across to my 4s and then 'emptying' my 3gs to pass across to my friend to use. I have icloud but to be honest I'm struggling to follow how the transfer would 'work' and I'm scared I'll lose something.
what to do when outlook isnt being used nor was icloud. is there a way to get back to a previous version without restoring back to the orriginal settings?
