Backed up before updating, even though the update assured me everything would be preserved. All the messages are still there, but the contacts are gone. Apps, photos, everything else backed up and restored with no problem, just contacts are gone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i download an update for about 4 hours, it crashes at least twice in the process, and then when everything is finally working, I notice my contacts are completely gone. The ones that sync from facebook are fine, but I don't care about those. Lots of them are gone though. I have no idea what they were saved in before. What account... etc. This happened last time i updated the system, but i had my old phone so i just went to at&t and had them add them all. i didn't think it would happen again, but IT DID!

The applications it refers to are often either My Verizon Mobile or Messaging. I believe it started when I updated. Is there a way to stop this? Also, my contacts were all deleted about an hour ago. Fortunately, most of them were recovered within about 15 minutes, but none of them have their corresponding pcitures, and my phone is not collecting contact information from Facebook as it used to. Also, when I view a certain contact, it becomes linked with my own information, even after unlinking and deleting my own contact. How can I fix this mess and retrieve contacts from facebook?

This morning all my contacts were fine, but when I went to send a text message this afternoon, I noticed that some of my contact names had disappeared and it was just their number in the message thread. As I looked through all the contacts that had just disappeared from my text messages, I noticed that all of them had been added since I got my new phone a little less than a year ago. I deleted them and replaced them with my own since I wrote down my contacts just incase and as I did this it started to do the same to the person whos numbers were restored on my phone. When I tried to get the person's numbers back it downloaded the other person's numbers on my phone. How do I restore the person who lost their numbers and get the other numbers on my phone off?

Currently I am weeding my Outlook contacts and deleting loads, how can I make sure that these amendments/deletions are then synced on my phone? I.e. a one way operation so that the deleted and amended details from Outlook are implemented on my phone. I recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1. Instead of hooking it up to my iMac and updating it through iTunes,I just updated when my phone showed a notification in my System Prefrences app; hooking my phone up to a power source and connecting to Wi-Fi.When it was finished updating, everything seemed to have worked like a charm. That is until I checked my Memos. The 15 memos I had on my phone, all of which were rather important to me, were gone.I was pretty surprised and angry to see that the update deleted all of them.
