For the last couple days, my iPhone wouldn't dictate anything I say and Siri just keeps saying, "I'm really sorry about this..." I've had issues in the past but they would usually resolve themselves within a few minutes. The only thing I can really think of that's different is that I had AT&T change my iPhone number a couple weeks ago.
Or if not who would be the better resource, AT&T support or Apple support?

Siri and text dictation have both stopped working. I have checked the settings and they are on, have restarted and reset as instructed in the user guide if a problem, still not working.

Started last night. Worked intermittently. Now can't understand a thing I stay -- using the approved phrasing, too. What's going on???? I upgraded because I wanted siri!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem on and off since getting my Photon, but now I can't seem to fix it after power recycles, battery pulls, and uninstalling new apps.
When I press the microphone key on the keyboard to use voice dictation, all I see is the microphone with a red line through it and a message above that saying "Voice Initializing" and it just hangs there. I've let it do that as long as five minutes, but with no success. I can still use the Google voice search bar and the voice commands app, just can't do voice from the keyboard.
Iphone 4S. New update. Can turn off dictation but still have Siri on?

The iPhone 4S has two microphones, one on the top next to the headphone jack, and another on the bottom next to the 30-pin connector.
Does anyone know if one microphone or the other is better for use when talking to Siri or doing dictation?

The voice to text option is not working anymore on my iPhone 5s. When I press the microphone button and talk, it looks like it's processing but then just stops and never enters text. Siri won't answer either when I talk to it.

so over the weekend, while I was away from home, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. It happened suddenly, and the only preceding events I can think of were that (1) we had heavy rain but I kept the phone in my pocket and neither my pocket nor the phone were wet when I took it out after the rain had passed (2) I downloaded the F1 timing app which initially had some crashing issues. I'm not sure if either of these contributed but it's possible. While the home button wouldn't work at all when pressed, I found that the voice control was starting automatically (and calling my contacts without me knowing). This would suggest a long press of the home button I think however I couldn't replicate it with the button. To avoid calling more contacts from my pocket I turned the phone off but it turned itself straight back on and always went straight to voice control after starting up. I finally got around this by leaving the phone on flight mode while not in use. I also found the accessibility setting to have an on-screen home button which made the phone slightly usable but not ideal.
When I charged the phone that evening it came up with the recovery screen requesting that I plug into iTunes. As I was away and without my laptop I was not able to do this but got through the weekend by cancelling lots of voice control pop ups and a lot of flight mode use. Now I'm home I have connected to iTunes and a restore was required. I followed this right through, the restore completes and when it reconnects to iTunes it says it needs to restore again. At this stage I can unplug it, turn it off and on again and use it.If it's turned on while unplugged it will start ok and then can be connected to iTunes and synced but the voice control will still start automatically after turning on and the home button does not work at all.If it's turned on while plugged in it will be in recovery mode and request a restore again.

Voice dialing on my Bold 9700 has worked for a long time. The phone is only 2.5 months old.Since last night though, when I click voice dialing, it just says "Scanning contacts", it reaches 100% very quickly, and closes. It never prompts me to say a command.I've tried battery pulls, going into settings -> Voice dial, changing things, and it still happens. If I try to Adapt my Voice, it just scans the contacts, and closes like above. It's rather strange because I haven't made major changes to my phone. I'm still using the main oem theme, and I have absolutely no programs running in the background. (I've held the menu button to see what's open.)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from nokia maps 2.0 to version 3.0. Prior to this if i had my music playing and the sat nav giving me voice directions over the fm transmitter in my car the music would be stoppped while the voice read out the instruction over the radio speakers, this would then revert to the music playing over the fm transmitter again, oh how perfect it was. Now unfortunatley after upgrading to nokia maps 3.0 when my sat nav decieds to give me verbal instructions all sound is taken from the fm transmitter and comes from the phones internal speaker (not via my car stereo) and to top it all of it doesnt even shut down the music that is playing so i have to try and decipher the sat nav instruction over the music, is anybody else having this problem or is it just me and more to the point how do i fix i
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust recently my voice-dial over my bluetooth stopped working - when I hit the button on my headset, all it does it redial the last number I had dialed. I'm not aware of any phone updates since it last worked. I've powered the phone off and on and still no luck. It was bad enough when I had to "wake it up" in order to use it. This is very frustrating - when I'm driving, I'm on the highway. I'm not stopping regularly for traffic lights so I can dial!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was updating my iphone's software this morning, I believe there's a new system or something - my phone told me to update, while I did so my phone stopped working, the only image I can see right now is a picture telling me to connect to ITunes. ITunes isn't picking up my iphone either and its stating the software server could not be contacted.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy best friend and I both have iPhone 4s' and have been using iMessage since we got the phones back in December with no problems. Last Wednesday, we updated our iPhones to the newest iOS 5.1 update. The following day, she had turned her phone off because her wifi was acting up and wouldn't send her iMessages. She fell asleep before turning her phone back on. When i sent her a text, it was saying "sent as text message" under the couple texts I had sent her. When she woke up and turned her phone back on, iMessage wouldn't work and continued to send as texts. The next day she found that if we turn our "send as SMS" off, iMessage started working again. The same thing happened again last night and we tried the "send as SMS" thing again and it's still not working. We have tried everything and can't figure out how to get iMessage working for us again. This problem didn't ever occur until iOS 5.1 update

My IPhoneS stopped working right after I did the latest update which was yesterday. Now, the phone does not work at all. When turned on, the screen shows a picture of USB cable pointing to the ITunes logo. I have tried just about everything, and cannot get it working. It's like it is frozon. My ITunes does not recognize my device. Cannot dial out either. I desperately need to get it working.

A recent update (7.1) for iPhone has completely crippled my 4s wifi, it won't switch on.. most of the time I have no 3G either & the phone is mush slower than before. I've tried the online fixes ( reboot & reset) I've been to my local Apple Store, who inform me the phone can't be fixed & is out of warranty. I still have 6 months to run on my O2 contract...... is there nothing I can do about this. Â
View 2 Replies View Relatedthe auto-updating of apps stopped working on my iPhone (4s/iOS 7.1.2). Not sure if that's a coincidence but it seems like it stopped working immediately after iOS 8 got released to developers (on June 2), as if somehow the App Store got configured differently, preventing devices running iOS 7 to auto-update apps. Auto update of apps used to happen at night here, most likely when the system has been idle and plugged in for a while, but no more. I find apps to update every morning, nothing has been done automatically.
ps: I did de-activate reboot and re-activate auto-update, no change.
I updated my iPhone to 5.1.1 and cannot get a 3G signal and also cannot activate cellular data. The same problem happened to a friend of mine too.
