my iPhone 4 is supposed to be factory unlocked - and it works with all German carriers - I also checked one sim-card from Ireland, which also worked. However, I can't activate the iPhone with a Chinese sim-card or Thai sim-card. The error message "sim not valid" shows up. I tried those two sim-cards with an iPhone 4S of a friend (also factory unlocked), and both worked perfectly. My assumption is that my iPhone is only unlocked for European carriers?
I have a few cards in the app Cards (it sends personalized paper greetings and birthday cards through the mail) that show in my history (already sent cards as well as drafts). Is there any way to remove these cards from the app?
I know this is probably vague since the new iPhone hasn't been released yet, but I would like to buy the iPhone 4 at its release, from AT&T without the contract ($599/$699), because I move to Germany a few weeks later. As far as I know it is still locked to AT&T then. Could you use it with a German sim card. How do I activate or can I avoid an activation and how can I use it in Germany? Do I need to wait for an unlock? I don't want to buy it in Germany because it is far more expensive and I don't want to use it with the standard-iPhone carrier.
I recently updated my iPhone 3g and am irritated with how slow it's running as I've heard a lot of people are. I've read about downgrading to the old OS but I'm beginning to consider jailbreaking it. I only have a few questions and i was hoping someone would know:
1) I'm planning on spending 6 months in SE Asia toward the end of this year. I'd like my phone to work there if possible. I'll completely admit that I've not researched this topic enough but my general question is, can I jailbreak my phone and then enable it for use in SE Asia, if so how? 2) Would jailbreaking the phone make it more difficult in some way to enable it for use there?
Unintelligible questions I know and I apologize but I have no idea with where to start for all of it.
I've got several friends in Japan with iPhone 4s and I was wondering if I can do some FaceTime with them. I know it uses WiFi but will dialing a foreign number bring extra charges? Thanks!
Im going to the US this summer for a long excursion, i intend to take a large amount of photos on my iphone, i just wondered if i 'places' still worked when 1.data roaming is turned off and 2. if airplane mode was on for obvious reasons i dont want to come back after 3 months and find that i have a phone bill of over a thousand pounds because i left data roaming on.
have an unlocked backberry bold.Since working in Romania it has decided to register itself as a local handset and my original UK sim nolonger works. This is the second BB Bold this hs happened to? How can get it to register to the correct network. tried all the sndard stuff (please note I used to work for Orange helpdesk for BLackberries so I am not a novice
I have an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9560 from Verizon wireless. I took the phone with me to Israel and got a sim card and blackberry service through a carrier here called cellcom. Everything appears to be working fine except for SMS.When I text some people they never get the text and I get no bounce back informing me of an error. On the other hand some people I can text fine. I think the problem has something to do with the country code and the leading 0 infront of all numbers here. All the numbers are stored in my phone as such.. 052-796-0124. The country code is +972 but does not need to be dialed. I can call these numbers no problem from my address book, but when I text there is no problem. When I recieve a text from people who I myself cannot text, I can reply no problem to their inital text. I cannot start a conversation however. I have tried playing with those smart dialing settings. I changed the country to Israel and have tried leaving it as a USA number and saying the numbers are 9 digits and to not dial the 1. Neither option works.Any ideas here?
When I hang up after a call, or when I have a message, a song which I did not download plays. Here is the kicker-it plays when my phone is on silent! Any ideas?
I had an iphone 4 and I just upgraded to the 4s, didnt go to the store just put my iphone 4's sim card into the the 4s, and its giving me an error message ''SIM not valid'' whats the problem? The error message goes on to say ''Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activated iphone
I just recieved my replacement iphone 4 today, when I turn it on it says insert sim to activate, when I do that it says sim not valid but on top left displays vodaNZ(as im from nz). Keeps saying insert the sim your iphone came with. It doesn't say activate your ipone using apple id and stuff like that. All it says is insert sim to activate. Could it be a corrupt sim or hardware issue?
Now I'm in a foreign country and don't know what to do! I also bought a microsim with internet data and it also does not activate. The iphone is unlocked from the carrier, at least they say that but Apple in Germany told me the phone has a restriction only for south america...
I just bought a brand new iphone from US' apple store to use in Canada with Rogers. I cut my own sim card and inserted into the sim tray of the iphone 4S. Unfortunately, it's reading the "insert a valid sim with no pin lock to activate iphone." My 4S is unlocked and it says so on the receipt as well. I've tried rebooting it and everything but it still reads that same message. I was wondering if it's something wrong with my iphone? should I go exchange it? I know the SIM isn't damaged because it still works on my blackberry despite the size.
I got my iPhone4 from the US and was using it for the past 3 months, iPhone4 after upgrading to 5.1.1 shows sim not valid or no service. I use IDEA service in India. All my contacts and photos have been deleated.
Does anyone know if I can use 2 sim cards with one iphone 4? I had my iphone stolen last week but I am getting one next week for work. My personal iphone was new with a 24 month contract.
So I want to know if I can use both sim cards with the one phone?
I haven't seen anything stating that the email we all received stating that our iPhone4's would arrive Wednesday the 23rd and not the 24th is a real true from Apple.com email.Mine is in route to my local FedEx facility but still shows the 24th (yes I know what the email says even though it says the 24th it still will be the 23rd).
I am buying my friend's 3Gs iphone, and I have already a 3G. Can I simply swap my sim card into her old phone, and continue using my current plan and number through AT&T, or do I have to call AT&T to do any activating of this new phone?(her old one)I'm hoping I don't have to call them at all (what a hassle). Can anyone let me know of their experiences doing this and if that is all there is to it or is there more?
I'm trying to transfer one iPhone to another. I've backed up the old iPhone, but I'm wondering about the sim card. Do I have to physically move the old sim card from the old phone to the new one? If so, how do I do this?
my dad got my an iphone for christmas and he wanted me to use my virgin sim card in it so i had to jailbreak it and unlock it so i did and it was working perfectly fine until one night. I was watching tv on my phone and decided to go to sleep the phone had 33% battery left so i thought ok it should last the whole night when i woke up the next morning my phone died on me. I tried putting it on charge and turned it back on but to shut itself down for some reason even thought the battery by then was roughly 50% so i tried restoring everything back to original software and now it wont recognise the original orange sim card it came with when i got my phone. I have also tried using an virgin simcard just in case and also used an 02 simcard aswell for good measures but nothing all i get is
"There is no SIM card installed in the phone you are attempting to activate. Please dissconect and insert a SIM card into the iPhone"
I'm working on rolling my own MDM service, and I'm trying to combine the SCEP and MDM payloads as the MDM protocol document from Apple suggests. I created my own SCEP web service in C# .Net and I know that the device can get a valid certificate when I just send the SCEP payload. However when I also include an MDM payload that points to the SCEP payload's UUID via the IdentityCertificateUUID key, I get the following error, "The enrollment server did not provision a valid identity certificate." This configuration is the one that is sent after the user chooses to install the initial enrollment configuration (step 1 of phase 2 in this diagram). The device doesn't appear to even make an attempt at connecting to my server, and thanks to server side logging I know that it never reaches my SCEP web service page. This seems to indicate that there's something wrong with the certificate I use to sign the payload. I've separately tried signing it with my SSL certificate (from a pre trusted root authority), my customer MDM push certificate (chained from our vendor cert), and my self-signed root certificate authority certificate (created via makecert.exe) that the SCEP service uses to issue new certificates (i.e. device identity certificates).I've looked at the output from the iPCU (iPhone Configuration Utility) when I create a profile with both the MDM and SCEP payloads, and it isn't a valid profile (I've even tried copying it nearly wholesale). However when I install the profile via the iPCU the error doesn't come up and it begins the SCEP enrollment process without issue.A side note - using a preexisting MDM vendor is not an option here.Below is the profile I'm using:
